Lego Macross VF-1 Valkyrie + Fast Pack + Armored by maxvf1

maxvf1's Lego Cuusoo: Lego Macross VF-1 Valkyrie + Fast Pack + Armored

Macross (also know as Robotech) is one of the most famous anime series from Japan (Gundam being the other). First appearing on television in 1982, Macross has been steadily available across a variety of formats. The most recent incarnation is the movie Macross FB 7: Ore no Uta o Kike! (Macross Dynamite 7: 15th Anniversary) and the Macross 30: The Voice that Connects the Galaxy video game. This science fiction series is centered around gigantic mecha robots known as variable fighters (veritech fighters in the Robotech variation). These variable/veritech fighters, commonly referred to as Valkyries were essential during the first Human-Alien war.

The VF-1 Valkyrie looks like a modern fighter aircraft, but it has the ability to transform into different modes/configurations. The standard space/jet fighter mode, the GERWALK (guardian) mode, and the Battroid (Battloid) mode. The GERWALK resembles a “chicken walker” style mecha and has VTOL capabilities. While Battroid mode is a full humanoid mecha. The pilot of the Valkyrie is Hikaru Ichijyo.

The Lego Macross VF-1 Valkyrie + Fast Pack + Armored is the creation of maxvf1, and has a fully detailed Lego CUUSOO proposal. The proposal is for a single VF-1 Valkyrie that can transform between all three modes (Fighter, GERWALK, Battroid) while retaining the detailing and design from the Macross series. The designer, maxvf1 has even included many variations that could be produced. Including the VF-1S and VF-1J. Although the focus is on the VF-1 Valkyrie. Even a hanger dock and Armored variations have been proposed.

These Macross Valkyries are extremely well made. Featuring fully posable articulation, and transformations (check out the YouTube video below). These are exceptionally accurate models. If for whatever reason this project never makes it out of the CUUSOO process it would be great if instructions could be provided. Mecha MOCs are always in demand.

The designer of these VF-1 Valkyrie mechas, maxvf1, has kept up a great and detailed Lego CUUSOO page here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/638

Tessa And Her Despicable Me Minions

LegoTessa's Despicable Me Minions

The supervillain Gru has a whole army of Minions. They come in all shape and sizes, but have one thing in common, they are all lacking in the intelligence department. For Minions, oddly enough, they have a whole lot of heart. Often finding themselves in situations of maximum comedy. With the new movie (Despicable Me 2) almost here, a whole lot of Despicable Me MOCs have been popping up. Tessa has created an amazingly simple version of Lego Minions. Using a small amount of common Lego pieces, almost anyone can create these little guys. They sure are cute.

Tessa has even provided simple instructions, showing how to put these little guys together. Make sure to check it out over at YouTube: http://youtu.be/BCh5njxThm0

The Amazing Lego Great Ball Contraption (GBC) Layout 2012.9

http://youtu.be/sUtS52lqL5w

The Lego Great Ball Contraption (GBC) Layout 2012.9 is an incredibly famous MOC. The whole thing is built using a modular system. A total of 17 modules combine to create this massive contraption. It runs 500 Lego balls, at a rate of 1 ball per second, through a 31 meter course. Featuring zigzag stairs, pneumatics, shooters, trains, screw and spiral lifts, elevators and conveyor belts. Lego bricks, technic and Mindstorm, all come together in a very unique machine. One thing is certain this Lego machine is loud.

The Lego Great Ball Contraption (GBC) 2012.9 is a creation of YouTube user Akiyuky, more contraptions can be found on his blog: http://legokarakuri.blog91.fc2.com

The Lego Movie: Official Teaser Trailer

The Lego Movie Poster

The first theatrical Lego movie is on its way and the first trailer has been released. Surprisingly The Lego Movie is a 3D computer animated film, which you would almost be fooled by the trailer. The computer graphics look like sculpted plastic. Giving the impression of a perfectly lit stop motion film. The Lego Movie is starring Chris Pratt, Will Farrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman. The whole project is directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs).

“The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.”

New details and a new trailer debuted this week, reaffirming early impressions that this will be a great game. The first piece of great news is that it will feature open-world gameplay, like Lego City Undercover, and also include the traditional platforming gameplay, like Lego Star Wars. It has also been confirmed that New York city, Manhattan, and Loki’s Lair will all be playable locations.

Lots of Marvel characters will be featured in the game, with Wolverine, Captain America, Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Mr. Fantastic, Thor, Deadpool, the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Sandman, and Loki all getting the digital Lego treatment. Harry Potter Meets A Rancor

“Hagrid has always been obsessed with strange and dangerous creatures…but his newest pet may prove to be more than he bargained for!”

Lego Harry Potter has always seemed like a theme that hasn’t received the proper respect it deserves. And, that is why it is good to see a very well made video mixing up Harry Potter and Star Wars. I especially like the use of non-Lego parts in the backgrounds, they seem to blend in very well.

Harry Potter Meets A Rancor, created by TheBrickShow, is now on YouTube: http://youtu.be/z4OARND31d0

Lego Star Wars: Ewok Village (10236)

Lego Star Wars: Ewok Village 10236 box

This week Twitter was lighting up with messages and rumors about an upcoming Star Wars: Ewok Village set. It didn’t take long for Lego to confirm these rumors. With 1,990 pieces and a price tag of $249.99 this is a massive Ewok Village. The whole set comes with 16 minifigures. 7 of which are exclusive designs and only available in this village. The new set will be available for purchase from Lego Shop@Home in September.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXE5KYeHGDc

The Ewok Village is built up around 4 trees and suspended in the canopy. There is so much brown and green that anyone making landscapes should be interested. Most Lego Star Wars sets are really cool starships and speeders, and it is rare to get a diorama or landscape based build. The set has been designed to replicate all of your favorite scenes from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. From the capture of Luke, Han, Chewbacca and Leia to the false worship of C3PO. Lego has even included details to help replicate the celebration after the Death Star is destroyed, for instance a set of drums made of recycled Stormtrooper helmets.

Hopefully more of these massive set pieces are coming in the future.

Lego Iron Man’s Suit

How does Tony Stark get his Iron Man suit on? Keshen8 has a good idea on how that would go, with Lego Iron Man’s New Suit. With extra smooth animation, good sound effects & dubbing, and even some special effects that all combine to create a great Iron Man spoof.

Also check out the background. The whole thing takes place in the Hall of Armor, which is probably one of those sets everyone wishes Lego would create.

Lego Casino Royale

Bricktease uploaded this frame by frame remake of the opening of Casino Royale in Lego. These projects are impressive for how much work it takes to get the camera angles just right. Make sure to check out the frame by frame comparison below to see just how accurate everything is. I do believe that Lego James Bond is my new favorite, way better then Roger Moore. Maybe for the next film we can replace Daniel Craig with a minifig version of him. Do Do, Do Doo, Do Do Dooooo…
