A Bicycle Automaton — Lego Build

A Bicycle Automaton — Lego Build

A bicycle can offer a feeling of freedom unmatched by almost any other vehicle. If I could ride a bike all day I would. This Lego Bicycle Automaton, created by parsom, offers just that fantasy. The first thing you notice is that the automaton feature is on full display. The design mimics the design of a bike, with a chain and two wheels. By turning the small crank the Minifigure will start riding, with wheels turning and the background changing. Every season is represented, it doesn’t matter if it is sun or snow, nothing will stop a good bike ride. This Lego MOC is up on Lego Ideas, so make sure to vote for it if you want to see something like this released by Lego. There is also a video to check out (below), which shows how everything works.

A Typewriter, Home Alone, And Seinfeld Are The Next Lego Ideas Sets!

A Typewriter, Home Alone, And Seinfeld Are The Next Lego Ideas Sets!

Lego has just released the results of their newest Lego Ideas review. The Third 2019 Review had twelve projects make the cut, and three of them have passed the review. The upcoming releases will include a Lego Typewriter (with working mechanisms), a Lego version of the McCallister House from Home Alone, and a Lego Seinfeld apartment set for the shows 30th anniversary. These three sets represent the kind of releases Lego Ideas tends to approve. There is the non-licensed toy/object, the classic television sitcom, and the nostalgic family friendly movie. As usual, these Lego Ideas pitches do not represent the final product, and there will probably be both minor and major changes in order to get these up to Lego standards.

Three of the projects that did not pass this round will have similar themes being reviewed again. That means that the Legend of Zelda, Futurama, and Queen all have a second change. The next giant sized review will feature 26 different projects, and the winners will be announced sometime in the fall of 2020.

Check out all the details, and watch the announcement video over on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/fe963822-d1c7-4abb-b961-2b0885a221ce

The Lego Collector’s New Shipment Just Arrived!

The Lego Collector's New Shipment Just Arrived!

As you start to collect Lego after a while it starts to take over. First a box, then a shelf, a room, and before you know it a whole house (and maybe a storage unit or office). But what happens when your Lego collection starts collecting Lego. That is exactly what is going on with this Lego MOC called “Just arrived” created by brick_expert. You can go vote for it over on Lego Ideas. The Lego Collector has let Lego overrun their room. But that doesn’t slow down amassing new sets. His newly finished Lego Star Destroyer looks great, but where should it be displayed? There are a lot of details in this build that are similar to real life. The overpacked shelves full of Lego models, the boxes of sets stacked up in the corner, and the carefully sorted drawers full of awesome pieces. A great detail is the brick built carpet on the floor. And the drawers in particular ended up being an amazing build. You can never have enough Lego bricks!

A Motorized Lego Lighthouse

A Motorized Lego Lighthouse, Day and Night

A lonely lightkeeper keeping all those ships from crashing into nearby rocks is a job for the most hardy. After months alone a shift change is eagerly awaited. This Lego Lighthouse is created by Roses Must Build. The main feature of this build is that a lightbrick mounted in the tower can be turned. A hand crank is hidden among the rocks, but the whole model is cleverly wired up for Power Functions. Hiding behind one of the rocks you can access a hidden door that controls the Lighthouse. Make sure to check out the video below to see it work. This scene has been built in nano-scale so that a sense of imposing loneliness can be properly portrayed. For shift changes, and supply refills a short dock can be used. Built into the rocky island are some precarious stairs leading up the island. On top you can find a very classic cozy house, and attached Lighthouse, all in classic red and white colors.

Lego Stitch, Now With More Arms!

Lego Stitch, Now With More Arms! Updated Lego MOC.

Stitch is the adorable alien, who just happens to extremely dangerous. This Lego Stitch created by Legohaulic has been updated to reflect both personalities. Compared to the previous build (check it out here) the newer model has been considerably redesigned. The “earth dog” version now has a bigger head, more SNOT building techniques, better fur, and bigger ears. The biggest change is that the model now supports the full “alien” version. With two extra arms, a bunch of extra antennae, and new pupils for the eyes. Lego Stitch stands at seven inches tall, and has thirteen different points of articulation. This new build is up on Lego Ideas (the previous model achieved over 10,000 votes!) so go vote for it if you want to see an official release!

Carter’s Secret. A Lego Escape Game.

Carter's Secret Mansion. A Lego Escape Game.

This is Carter’s Secret a Lego mansion created by Think Brick Studio. The build contains over 2,900 pieces with three Minifigures. The characters found around the mansion include Carter, Oria and Toms. The house has been designed as a modular building, with six separate and removable parts. The finished build looks like an old run down building out in the middle of the woods. The only clue that something is not so simple is the huge planetarium off to the side. The mansion is actually a huge playset, with an open back. This design comes in handy when you start to uncover the mysteries inside.

Carter's Secret Details. A Lego Escape Game.

The mansion is hiding many secrets. As this is a Lego Escape Game. You have exactly 60 minutes to uncover all the mysteries and save the lead Minifigure Newt Carter. The game is set in four stages. The first of which has you entering the mansion on the ground floor. After you figure out what is going on, you will slowly reveal more rooms to the mansion until it is complete. Will you be able to make it to the planetarium and save the day?

Carter's Secret. A Lego Great Escape Game.

Welcome stranger!

If you read this message, it means that you have successfully entered my home. Don’t worry, and please don’t go! I need your help. I run a very great danger, only you can succeed in getting me out of this mess. In my rush, I just damaged my old machine, it will self-destruct in an hour! I got stuck in it. Join me in the planetarium as soon as possible and activate the telescope. But for that, you will have to look for the bulb on the second floor! Be quick, I need some oxygen supply!

Come On In And Listen To Mr. Radio

Come On In And Listen To Mr. Radio

Mr. Radio is a Lego MOC built by Brohirrim. It was inspired and submitted into the Lego Ideas “Music to our ears!” contest. A challenge to build “anything and everything to do with music” and the top four winners get prizes, and maybe even a chance at a Product Review. This Lego radio is an old cabinet design, with built in speakers and even a surprise or two. The gold colored detailing and the cut out design for the speakers is a really great detail. Even the channel indicator in the center, being a Lego compass, works well. The big secret is the radio lab hidden inside. Where you can go tinker and broadcast all day and night. The front panel opens up and you can even see the backside of the speaker drivers.

GLaDOS, Chell, And Wheatley – Portal 2 Lego

GLaDOS, Chell, And Wheatley - Portal 2 Lego

Lego Dimensions had a bunch of surprise licenses. One of their best was the Portal video game set. It featured a Minifigure of Chell, a Turret, and a Companion Cube. But, that little set left many people hoping for more. Thats why it is great to see the Lego Ideas submission called “Portal 2 – GLaDOS vs Chell and Wheatley” make its way to the top. This Lego build features the computer GLaDOS which is currently in charge of the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. Things have gone a bit poorly so Chell and Wheatley are there to make things better (or worse). GLaDOS is fully detailed, and yet surprisingly movable. There is even a hidden cake if you can find it. A Companion Cube and Turret compliment the scene which you can see in the video below.

Rule An Island With The New Lego Pirates Of Barracuda Bay (21322) Set

Lego Pirates Of Barracuda Bay (21322) Set

Lego has surprised their Pirates fans by announcing a new set. The Pirates of Barracuda Bay (21322) is the newest Lego Ideas release. It looks like the famous Black Seas Barracuda has been shipwrecked. But, the crew are making the best of it and turned the remains into a pirate island. With 2545 pieces, and 8 Minifigures. Lego has priced the set at $199.99/€199.99 with an April 1st release.

This set has the greatest play feature Lego has ever released. The pirates can work together, fix up the wrecked Barracuda and take to the seas. All three sections can be removed from the island, and combined into a full remake of the Black Seas Barracuda. You could say the sandy island is a really fancy display stand.

The new ship has a lot in common with the original 1989 release. It is a remake but with a lot of details updated to more modern Lego building techniques. Some of those new details include a completely reworked bow and stern, a fully furnished interior, and a new curvier hull. The new Black Seas Barracuda is instantly recognizable, and yet almost completely new.

Lego has revealed an updated new backstory for this set. Inhabiting this island is Captain Redbeard, Lady Anchor, Robin Loot, Tattooga, Pirate Twins Port and Starboard, Quartermaster Riggings, and Jack “Dark Shark” Doubloons. Also included are two prisoners, who have long since expired (skeletons). There is even a secret buried treasure that can be discovered.

Discover the captain’s cabin, food store, kitchen, bedrooms, supply dock, farm, toilet, jail cell, tavern and hidden treasure, plus lots of fun accessories, 8 pirate minifigures, assorted animal figures and 2 skeleton figures to inspire action-packed stories. This set includes an island that can be split in half and rearranged. The shipwreck can also be dismantled and reassembled to make a ship inspired by the Black Seas Barracuda pirate ship LEGO model from 1989.”

Winnie The Pooh And Blacksmith Featured In New Lego Ideas Review

Winnie The Pooh Featured In New Lego Ideas Review

Lego Winnie the Pooh is one of the next Lego Ideas sets. Featuring Poohs house in the 100 Acre Wood. The submitted design features a removable roof, with a fully furnished interior. It also features minifigures and brick built figures for Eeyore, Piglet, Pooh, Rabbit, Tigger, and Owl. It will be interesting to see what the official set will be, and if it will contain so many custom minifigs.

Blacksmith Featured In New Lego Ideas Review

Also approved by Lego is the Medieval Blacksmith. The announcement specifically complimented the colors and overall design. The submitted model is a rather large set. With removable roof/floors (like in the Modulars) and fully furnished interiors. This is an extremely detailed Blacksmith model and it will be interesting to see what Lego cuts out before the official release.

New Lego Ideas Review 2nd 2019

Lego also offered an update on the Anatomini project. They announced that ultimately they would pass on the design. It was a very cool project, but maybe some people don’t like to think about what is inside a minifigure…
