Skylanders: Shroomboom & Trigger Happy

IScreamClone and Tazmaniac's Skylanders He Shoots He Spores

I Scream Clone and Taz-Maniac have created a pair of Skylanders Lego MOCs. Skylanders is a genre busting series of Action Figures that you can collect and play inside a digital world.  First showing up a few years ago, the concept and execution of the Skylanders system completely surprised everyone. The pure popularity of the game/figure system means Activision is printing gold. Here, in Lego, are two of the Skylanders: Giants characters, Shroomboom and Trigger Happy. They use many of the more advanced building techniques which in this case makes them a bit more fragile. These two little creatures sure look cute, but I’m sure they can hold their own.

Sadly these will not work with your Portal of Power. Maybe someday.

Normandy SR2 — Mass Effect Lego

BennyBrickster's Normandy SR2 - Mass Effect Lego

The Mass Effect Trilogy is one of the most famous modern RPGs of all time. The epic story of Commander Shepard and his legendary crew have inspired an almost unparalleled amount to fan art. Including countless Lego models. The main focus for most Lego builders is the sleek Normandy SR2 starship. The SR2 is the successor of the cutting edge SR1. Making its first appearance in Mass Effect 2, this Cerberus built ship has no comparison, everything about it is lightyears ahead of its closest competition.

Benny Brickster, of Flickr, took over seven months to complete this MOC. The sleek design is especially troublesome, and was recreated here without being too bulky. Curves are always hard to do correctly in Lego, but the larger scale of this spaceship allows it to keep a smooth profile. Also note the beautiful Normandy text, and the SR2 logo; completely made out of standard Lego bricks.

“I’m Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite” starship in the galaxy.

Bioshock Infinite: Beast of America

CoolWhip's Lego Bioshock Infinite: Beast Of America

BRING US THE GIRL, WIPE AWAY THE DEBT.

“The year 1912. Deep in debt, Brooker Dewitt has only one opportunity for a clean slate: rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious girl imprisoned since childhood in the flying city of Columbia.”

CoolWhip's Lego Bioshock Infinite: Beast Of America Detail

Bioshock Infinite is one of those video games that just oozes story and style. Everything from the colonial Americana design, to the patriotic propaganda helps to reinforce the wonder and horror of the world of Bioshock. Many great MOCs have been built based off of Bioshock concepts, usually around the Big Daddy character. This build is one of the first seen based off of the newest Bioshock game, and certainly one of the only ones that try to recreate the setting in Lego.

Note all the details contained in this section of the flying city of Columbia. Brooker Dewitt and Elizabeth hiding behind a vending cart for safety. The Tin Soldier, Turret and Handyman all mixed in with the chaos. There is even a billboard. This is a great MOC that will hopefully inspire more Bioshock builds.

I Choose You Charizard!

Retinence's Pokemon Charizard

Pokémon Red and Blue had the best starting Pokémon of all the games. Each one was memorable and interesting. Squirtle, a water turtle, who would evolve and have a cannon on its back. Bulbasaur, a grass monster, who would end up with a giant poisonous flower growing out of it. And Charmander, a baby fire dragon. Although no poison flower  or cannon, Charizard was a dragon, which means he is the best. For many people, Charizard accompanied them all the way to the Elite Four. Who knows how and why Pikachu became the Pokémon mascot, Charizard eats Pikachus for breakfast.

Flickr user Retinence created Pokemon: Charizard MOC. Believe it or not Charizard is actually incomplete with a few minor details still being worked on. Go check it out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/retinence/8811179745/

The Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter – Lego CUUSOO Project

Legend of Zelda, Iron Knuckle Encounter

WesTalbott has proposed a Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter project over at the Lego CUUSOO page. This is not the first time the Legend of Zelda has made an appearance on the CUUSOO page, but it is by far the strongest proposal. Lego has said in the past that a previous Legend of Zelda theme would be too expensive to produce due to the need for custom molds. WesTalbott took that news and created the Iron Knuckle Encounter, which would only require 1-3 custom molds. The most important new mold that would be needed is for Links hat. A new sword and shield would be nice too, but those were not designed to be a requirement.

Having Link fight a brick built bad guy is really fun, and certainly appealing to the AFOL market. And, just look at all those wonderful jars, they are just begging to be broken! The whole set would feature said pots, lots of skulls, rupees, and even a boss key. Even the double sided play set provides a lot of play features, and looks great.

In the last few months a lot of the Lego CUUSOO project proposals have become much more realized, probably a side effect of Kickstarter. The Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter features a lot of artwork to go with the proposal, such as a mock up for a Lego box, and a wonderful poster!

The only problem with a Legend of Zelda theme is acquiring a license. Nintendo has never worked with Lego, and is currently working with K’NEX. Stranger things have happened though. Lets all hope that Link can get the treatment he deserves.

Atlas and P-Body from Portal 2

Eldeeem's Portal 2: Atlas and P-Body

ATLAS and P-Body, also known as Blue and Orange, are everybody’s favorite playable robots from Portal 2. They were created by GLaDOS as a means to replace human subjects in the Cooperative Testing Initiative at the Aperture Science Enrichment Center.

Fun robot fact: ATLAS (the round one) is male, and P-Body (the tall one) is female.

Here they have been recreated in Lego. The overall shape and design match up pretty well when compared to the source material. A difficult achievement, considering how intricate and non-Lego like their design is. This MOC is a perfect example in how integrating rubber bands into your builds can help you build the impossible. Check out the rubber bands wrapping around their core, and delicate joints.

For comparison, make sure check out ATLAS and P-Body in the cooperative trailer from Portal 2. Now to spend an hour watching Portal 2 videos on YouTube…

ATLAS & P-Body were built by Eldeeem and can be seen over at Flickr:

Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser (75025) Announced

GRogall’s Photos: Star Wars Jedi Defender Class Cruiser The Old Republic

The newest Lego Star Wars set has been announced, and it is the Jedi Defender-class Cruiser (75025) from Bioware’s Star Wars the Old Republic. Every time I see a new set released from Lego based on The Old Republic it makes me smile. This is a set based on a video game, from the extended universe, ultimately based on the original films.

The Jedi Defender-class Cruiser comes with 4 minifigs, 3 of which are all new. 2 of the 4 happen to be Jedi’s, so thats great, and of course the obligatory Sith to fight with. The new spaceship comes with 937 pieces, and is rumored to be priced around $100. If so, that would make this a pretty good deal for a Star Wars set. The set should be out soonish, so if you cannot wait, just log in to The Old Republic and admire the Cruiser in all its digital glory.

Thanks to GRogall of Eurobricks for breaking the news on this new set, for more photos go here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77256&st=2125#entry1588701

Lego Yoshi

Bruce Lowell’s Lego Yoshi

Bruce Lowell created a very accurate Yoshi out of Lego. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island is by far one the the best Nintendo games ever made. The stylized art direction means that this games graphics hold up decades after its release. Bruce even included some of the iconic green hills in the background. The only thing missing from this Lego Yoshi build is a little baby Mario.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes Trailer

It looks like a new Lego game is due out this October. This time the theme will be Lego Marvel Super Heroes. The goofy style that TT Games has perfected over this past decade looks like a perfect fit.

UPDATE: A new E3 trailer for Lego Marvel Super Heroes is here: http://everydaybricks.com/lego-marvel-super-heroes-e3-trailer/
