The Lego Atari 2600, With Pitfall And Space Invaders

The Lego Atari 2600, With Pitfall And Space Invaders

The Atari 2600 was one of the first popular video game consoles. Originally offered in the late 1970s, the wild success eventually led the video game crash of 1983. Recreating old retro video game consoles in lego is very popular. This lego Atari 2600, created by -derjoe-, manages to keep the most defining feature of the console: its fake wood paneling. The choice of orange for the background fits the era perfectly. Not only is the 2600 made of lego, but the joystick, power adapter, Space Invaders video game cartridge, and the Pitfall video game box are also all lego. The black vented slots are present, as are all the toggle switches. The only thing missing is an old tv to play it on.

The details present are all very well done. Check out the Pitfall box, a super complicated design of lego plates creating the famous artwork. The toggle switches on the console even have room to be pushed up or down. The Atari logo is a a great micro-build all on its own. Even the joystick controller has some amazing details. Gotta Collect Them All – Lego Fabuland Maxifigs

Lego Fabuland Maxifigs MOC Group 2

Lego Fabuland has a storied past. The Lego theme ran from 1979 to 1989, and had over 100 official sets released. Not quite Duplo and not quite Lego, Fabuland was in this weird in-between space. They were one of the first themes to be licensed out to non-lego products. Including books, vinyl records, and puzzles. There was even an official Lego television program called Edward and Friends that aired in 1987 and 1988. The most recognizable part of the Fabuland theme are all the characters. There are well over 50 of them. They were bigger than Minifigures, and included sculpted unique faces/heads.

Lego Fabuland Maxifigs MOC Hannah Hippo

This collection of Lego Fabuland Maxifigs is created by Koen Van Der Biest. These MOCs are expertly made and really show off the personality of their Fabuland characters. It looks like Catherine Cat, Bonnie Rabbit, Wilfred Walrus, and Maximillian Mouse make up the first group. Then there is Hannah Hippo with a wheelbarrow. In the next group is Peter Pig, Freddy Fox, Charlie Crow, Clive Crocodile, Bianca Lamb, Peter Panda, and Edward Elephant. (I may have mixed up a couple of them…)

At the current rate, all of the characters will be built in 3-5 years. These animals are on their way be one of the greatest Lego MOCs ever. Check out all the Fabuland Maxifigs or Maxifigures over here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/61911005@N03/32652006037/

Cute Mini Vignettes For Lego Minifigures Series 19

Cute Mini Vignettes For Lego Minifigures Series 19

The Lego Minifigures Series are fun to collect. They always look great too, especially when displayed in a group. One of the best ways to show off your collection is to build little mini MOCs or vignettes. These Lego Minifigures Series 19 vignettes are super cute. Created by zaru_soba, they show off all the different figures and create a mini story. The personality of each minifig matches up perfectly with their scene. The video gamer battlestation, the bathtub wave surfer, the dog sitter, and the retro gardener are some favorites. What is great is that these type of MOCs take relatively few pieces to build.

A Lego Gumball Machine – Not For Human Consumption

Anthony Sejourne Lego Gumball
“I think this set can seduce a lot of people because it is an ancient and modern object at once, it can remember the childhood memories for some.

Je pense que cet ensemble peut séduire un grand nombre de personnes car c’est un objet ancien et moderne à la fois, il peut rappeler les souvenirs d’enfance pour certains.” — Anthony Séjourné

This cute little Lego gumball machine is a great retro styled MOC. It even features a spinning dial/handle. It does not take coins though, and the gum balls are not edible. This project is the work of Anthony Séjourné, who has a Lego Ideas page: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/166207

Relive 1984 With This Lego Apple Macintosh 128k

Ryan Lego Apple Macintosh 128k

You too can relive 1984 with this Lego Apple Macintosh 128k. Ryan McNaught built the Mac, and almost everything else on the desk out of Lego. The Rubik’s Cube, Pencil/Pen Cup, the Pens, Calculator, Rolodex, and even that little Pencil are all Lego. The only thing that is not are the wires connecting the keyboard and mouse. This MOC took Ryan over 22 hours to build with some 4,500 pieces. There are so much beige bricks. Some of the best details include the retro multi-colored Apple logo, the keys on the keyboard, and the plates used as the rolodex cards. But the best detail is the screen and icon. This Lego Mac seems a little less happy then normal.

These Lego Classic Sega Arcade Machines Are Radical!

SpacySmoke Lego Classic Sega Arcade

Some of the most impressive Arcade Machines in the 1980s and 1990s were from Sega. They were the masters of the oversized deluxe cabinets. SpacySmoke has recreated some of the iconic cabinets in their Lego Sega Classic Arcade Machines series. These are built in scale for Minifigures. They would fit right in with the Lego Dimensions Midway Retro Gamer. A whole Lego arcade could be put built, where your Minifigs can spend Saturday nights.

There are four Sega Arcade machines. They are all based on the deluxe versions. One awesome detail is that these Lego MOCs replicate the movements of the real life cabinets. Out Run (one of the most famous racing games) features a Lego model that moves left and right. Just like the real game. Space Harrier (a weird shooter game) can move up, down, left, right and tilt. Thunder Blade (a helicopter game) can rotate. While Hang-On (a motorcycle game) tilts left and right.

The TwinBee, A Lego Mech Homage

rongYIREN's TwinBee Lego Mech

This stout Lego Mech is called the TwinBee, and is the creation of rongYIREN. The TwinBee is an homage or recreation of the ship from the NES/SNES video game. A series that started way back in 1985 in Japan, and seems to still be going with an iOS / Android release in 2013 titled Line GoGo! TwinBee. This homage manages to keep the arms, which are essential for dropping bombs. The Lego version has some awesome jets, large enough to outrun anything else. It even manages to stand out as something unique in The Lego Mech or Robot genre: http://everydaybricks.com/category/robots-2/

The Golden Girls Lego Living Room and Kitchen Modular Set

lostsleep's The Golden Girls Lego Living Room and Kitchen Modular Set

The Golden Girls Lego Living Room and Kitchen Modular Set is the creation of lostsleep. It took this Lego Ideas project only a few weeks to obtain over 10,000 supporters. The show set is about as accurate to the classic television show as you could expect. It features the iconic round table, a foyer, and living room all set up like a live television show set. You just need to add your live audience, cameras, and production crew. The four main women are instantly recognizable. You have Dorothy, Rose, Sophia, and Blanche. This is such an awesome set, and I cannot wait to see what the official Lego response will be!

lostsleep's The Golden Girls Lego, Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia

“This is a recreation of the Golden Girls House used in filming the popular 1980’s show that is still watched daily around the world. It is the Foyer, Living Room, and Kitchen built like a TV set, with one wall removed and a full view into the space.  It comes with 5 minifigures including Dorothy, Rose, Sophia, Blanche, and Stanley.  It has been meticulously recreated to have opening cupboards and fridge in the kitchen, Wicker Sofa and Chairs, a hallway backdrop, a storage closet in the kitchen, and an outdoor area with potted plants and a hose.

I have recreated many classic scenes from the show, including a visit from Burt Reynolds, Rose shooting Blanche’s Vase, Dorothy Playing “Grab That Dough” and Rose rescuing her Teddy Bear from a mean little girl.”

The Crystal Voyager, A Lego Space Buggy

Karf Oohlu's Lego Space The Crystal Voyager

The Crystal Voyager is ready to cruise across the moon in style. This space buggy is the creation of Flickr user Karf Oohlu. They found a great use for the various Lego clear spheres. Even the most obscure, and seemingly useless Lego piece can be used creatively with a little imagination. The tiny T. Rex style hands are a nice touch too. Perfect for taking samples of moon rocks. The Crystal Voyager is a great example of retro futurism, just make sure your classic Lego spaceman has a lot of Tang, and freeze-dried ice cream for his journey. Hey, maybe he is listening to Journey too.

Lego Arcade Machines. 1980s Style.

BreaksBricks's Lego Arcade Machines 1980

Do you have fond memories of Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Zaxxon, and Street Fighter 2? BreaksBricks does, and has created an amazingly rad Lego Arcade over on Lego Ideas. Their Lego “Arcade Machines 1980!” contains all the pieces to create your own Arcade. These would also fit in at any Pizzeria or Movie Theater. These Coin-Ops even include a money changer and gumball machine. These machines have been created for maximum nostalgia but an interesting proposal makes them sticker friendly. Meaning you could create your own stickers to transform these cabinets into your favorite games. Surprisingly Lego and the classic Arcade Machines go together pretty well. There are many different creations out there.

BreaksBricks's Lego Arcade Machines 1980 Detail

Lego Arcade Machines 1980 includes:

  • Stand up arcade machine with joystick control
  • Stand up arcade machine with driving wheel control
  • Cocktail arcade machine with stools for seated playing
  • Classic change machine with dollar slot and coin tray
  • Classic gumball machine filled with 1×1 round plate gumballs!

“These machines would really stand out on display shelves and attract a lot of attention from Lego enthusiasts of all ages. Many Lego builders like myself grew up obsessed with video games and would naturally gravitate towards kits that feature nostalgic arcade machines from their childhood.”
