A Gleaming LOTR Lego Minas Tirith in Micro Scale

lisqr's Lego Minas Tirith Micro Scale

If there is one The Lord of the Rings set that everyone is waiting for an official release it is Minas Tirith. The problem is that almost any set that Lego designs will disappoint LOTR fans in some way. It will be either, too small and toy like, or small and expensive. A minifigure scale version of Minas Tirith is just not feasible. With this in mind, Flickr user, lisqr proposes a Lego Minas Tirith in micro scale. Even in the tiny scale this is a huge MOC at 65 studs across and 35 bricks tall. The gleaming white walls look ready to withstand any invasion. All the major details of Minas Tirith are here, the 7 ringed levels, the Citadel, the Tower of Ecthelion, and the White Tree.

A Lego CUUSOO page has been created for this project. As lisqr says: “Minas Tirith, the greatest fortress in Middle Earth, deserves to be immortalized in Lego bricks. The Lord of the Rings theme feels incomplete without it.” Check it out here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/58380

Friendly Fire with these Lego Friends Cyborgs

LarryLars's Lego Friends Cyborgs Friendly Fire

These Lego Friends inspired cyborgs are the creation of Larry Lars. Who has been refining the robotic body for a few years now. Which has paid off well with these awesome cyborgs. The first one (white, black hair) was created in 2012, while the newest (white, red hair and blue) are from 2013. The compact building style looks extremely delicate, but the end result is worth it. This is a great example of the Lego telephone being put to use. These Lego Friend Cyborgs look like they could fit into a Masamune Shirow manga (Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell).

LarryLars's Lego Friends Cyborgs Say Hello To My Little Friend

Lego made a smart move by allowing the Lego Friends figures to fit into the Lego System. This allows the various body parts to be mix and matched with other Lego pieces. The Lego Minifigure style hair can be used on the Friends figures. This greatly expands the available hair styles for your figures. Here the Lego Friends head has been matched with the anime style Minifig hair from the Exo-Force theme.

High Velocity Ice Cutting Speeder. A Lego Ice Planet Themed MOC.

A Plastic Infinity's High Velocity Ice Cutting Speeder on Ice Planet

One Lego theme that you don’t see very often is the Ice Planet 2002 theme. This was the Lego Space theme from 1993 through 1994. It had a heavy emphasis on blue and white bricks. The theme contained a lot of white haired minifigures and the coolest (pun!) accessory ever made: the transparent orange chainsaw (6117). The High Velocity Ice Cutting Speeder (HiVICS), by A Plastic Infinity, is a cool MOC based on Ice Planet. This is a compact speeder in the SNOT style, with come really inventive use of Lego parts. For instance, the blue baseball cap and the Bionicle (?) pieces. The Lego hoses also lend a sleekness to the speeder that works well.

A Plastic Infinity used one customized Lego piece in this built. If you can spot it, make sure to go over to the Flickr page and let them know!

“I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…” Pokemon Lego Ash and Misty

lisqr's Pokemon Lego Misty

Pokémon is still going strong today with the recent release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the Nintendo 3DS. Even the original Gameboy games are being sought after and collected today by fans. These original games, titled Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, lead to a television show spinoff. The original animated series made its debut in 1998 with a prime after school timeslot. The show took many liberties compared to the Gameboy games. With a whole cast of reappearing characters that were not present in the original games. The two most memorable are Ash, and his friends Misty and Brock. Two of these have been carefully recreated in Lego by lisqr.

Lego Misty is a great SNOT style figure. With her super orange hair and trademarked blue shorts and yellow tanktop her design is spot on. The anime style hair and eyes are especially good. Lego Ash on the other hand is wearing his (oversized) red and white hat. His design allows him to have more articulation then the Misty figure. I can just imagine him hassling a Lego Pikachu.

To get the best impression of these MOCs make sure to play the Pokémon theme song. “I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…”

Na Na Na Na BA NA NA BATMAN! – Lego Despicable Me Batman Minion

JesperGirl's Lego Despicable Me Batman Minion

“Na Na Na Na BA NA NA BATMAN…. …POW!!!”

There is something enduring about the multitudes of Lego Despicable Me Minions. All sort of builds have popped up everywhere. One thing they all have in common is personality. For some reason the pill shape body and giant facial features of the Minions translates into Lego very well. Jesper_Girl, of Flickr, has recently shared their own Batman Minion; titled “Na Na Na Na BA NA NA BATMAN… …POW!!!” The basic design is built off of the Minions created by Bricksben. The Batman costume is excellent. Especially the Bat belt and cowl.

The Despicable Me Minions are some of the most popular posts on LegoGenre, so check them out here: http://everydaybricks.com/tag/minion/

Bioshock Lego, The Amazing Handyman

Mr Scare Chrome's Lego Bioshock, The Amazing Handyman

In Bioshock Infinite the big bad guy is more often then not the Handyman. These huge mechanical men would be integrated into a robotic body as a way of prolonging their lives. Too bad Booker DeWitt came along and killed a whole bunch of them. This Minifigure scale Handyman is great. The minimalistic treatment to the robotic body is a great fit, and the minifigure head is a perfect match for their character. This Iron Man, Mark VII Armor is a posable Lego Figure

mmccooey's Iron Man Mark VII Armor Lego Figure

The Iron Man Mark VII Armor is instantly recognizable. With a good contrast between red and gold this armor is one of the popular. Flickr user Mmccoey has designed a fully posable figure of Iron Man with Lego. There are over 50 points of articulation, if you count all the movable pieces of armor and the individual fingers. The size of this figure and all of its features match up with most of the non-Lego action figures. This thing has missile launchers, wrist mounted lasers, anti-personnel missiles, air-to-ground missiles, flares, and propulsion jets. This figure also features 6 yellow Lego light bricks (in the photos here they have been manipulated in Photoshop to be blue). Whew!

Happy Lego Lunar New Year

ryouta22's Lego Happy Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year. The year of the Horse is ready to begin. Flickr user Ryoutachan22 posted this super cute collection of the 12 Zodiac signs. Believe it or not, these were built by a 7 year old. Which, puts my own building skills to shame. These cute animals are a great example of how much variety you can achieve with only one shape (sphere).

Can you can match up the Rat, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Bird, Dog, and Boar with their Lego representation?

Lego Batman and Robin, Joker’s Funhouse / Gotham Park. Fully Animated MOC.

Brickbaron's Lego Batman and Robin, Joker's Funhouse

Batman and Joker go together like peanut butter and jam. No other hero / villain duo are as famous or an entertaining. It seems that in every version of Batman (the Comics, original TV show, the Tim Burton films, the Animated Series, the various video games or the recent Christopher Nolan film trilogy) these two eventually have an all out showdown. Usually involving some sort of abandoned theme park or funhouse. Lego has released their own version of the funhouse with “The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape (6957).” As awesome as that set is, one has to wonder what it would be like if money was not an issue. For instance, Brickbaron created “Lego Batman and Robin, Joker’s Funhouse” as a tribute to several Batman video games. This giant automaton funhouse is so much fun. This is Lego at its best.

Joker’s Funhouse is a fully animatronic and extremely well lit MOC. Make sure to check out this YouTube video:

http://youtu.be/95gUCiT_-A8

There are three levels built into Joker’s Funhouse, and each one contains a story. On the left side is the entrance to “Gotham Park.” At one time this little seaside park would have been a blast, but has since rundown and has been taken over by Joker and his goons. The entrance to the park features an intense fight with Batman, 2 goons, Killer Croc, and the Scarecrow. There are many hidden features, such as Robin up on the roof ready to surprise some bad guys.

Brickbaron's Lego Batman and Robin. Joker's Funhouse, Goons

The whole scene is topped off with a dilapidated roller coaster. Which leads over to the right side of the pier, where a spinning ride has been taken over by Joker and the Penguin. Here Batman and Robin are in a desperate fight for their lives as an army of armed penguins is closing in. The simple spinning mechanism add a lot to the energy of the funhouse.

The interior of the Gotham Park is by far the most deadly. Robin is in a fight for his life against Poisen Ivy and her carnivorous plants. While Harley Quinn is holding Commissioner Gordon hostage over a boiling pot of Lego. Which is not distracting Two Face from torturing an innocent girl with explosives. The Riddler seems to be hosting some sort of decoding game show, while Catwoman is off in the corner stealing diamonds. The whole time this is going on, Batman is fighting a giant robotic version of the Joker in the center. Whew. Even more impressive is that everything is animated with technic and lit with fancy dramatic lighting.

Brickbaron's Lego Batman and Robin, Joker's Funhouse, Two Face

Gotham Park is a masterpiece MOC. It perfectly captures the mood and feeling of a funhouse thats been taken over by the Joker. Brickbaron spent some two months working on this creation. And has since been bringing it around to various Lego conventions. Joker’s Funhouse made its debut at Brickcon 2013 in Seattle.
