The TwinBee, A Lego Mech Homage

rongYIREN's TwinBee Lego Mech

This stout Lego Mech is called the TwinBee, and is the creation of rongYIREN. The TwinBee is an homage or recreation of the ship from the NES/SNES video game. A series that started way back in 1985 in Japan, and seems to still be going with an iOS / Android release in 2013 titled Line GoGo! TwinBee. This homage manages to keep the arms, which are essential for dropping bombs. The Lego version has some awesome jets, large enough to outrun anything else. It even manages to stand out as something unique in The Lego Mech or Robot genre: http://everydaybricks.com/category/robots-2/

This Lego Transformers Optimus Prime Is More Than Meets The Eye

Ralph S's Lego Transformers Optimus Prime Truck

Lego and Transformers seems like a pretty good match. The problem is that the recent movies and the cartoons take extreme liberties in the design. Usually there is no way these robots could fit into a tiny car. Since a computer can cheat and hide away a lot of the conflicting elements, the films get away with this. When you are working in Lego these conflicts need to be carefully worked out. Ralph S has created an extremely detailed Lego Optimus Prime. What separates this from all the other Lego Transformers MOCs is that this one can actually transform. The truck from is a good looking Lego MOC, even if you didn’t know what was hiding inside. Then with some careful transforming, Optimus Prime, stands tall. At 45-50cm in height, this makes the models scale at 1/22. Even better Optimus can stand on his own (although don’t sneeze around him, and don’t tell the Decepticons).

The Cake Is A Lie. Lego Dimensions Portal E3 Trailer.

Lego Dimensions Portal Trailer E3

The Cake may be a lie, but this newest trailer is not. During E3, a new Lego Dimensions Portal trailer was released featuring a whole bunch of GLaDOS, Chell, and even a little bit of Wheatley. The gameplay is looking good. With a lot of Portal Gun mechanics being shown off. It looks like other Dimensions characters will be able to play in the Portal levels, including Batman, Homer Simpson, and Gandalf. It is not clear if you can take things like the Portal Gun into the other non-Portal levels. Which, if possible, opens up a whole lot of complicated stuff. Check out the full trailer below, it is pretty entertaining…

Wall-E Will Be Cleaning Up Your Lego Mess Soon (21303)

Lego Ideas WallE Box 21303

The upcoming Lego Wall-E set has been leaked. It looks like a retailer uploaded some official artwork to their web store a little bit early, allowing us a sneak peak. The Lego Ideas #012, Wall-E (21303) will be released this summer, with a price point around $40-50. No one is sure yet on the final pricing, other then the Smyths Website is selling it for €57.99, which is most certainly marked up. Also according to the product listing this little robot will feature:

  • Flexible head and hands can open/close
  • Rotating wheels with tracks
  • Opening torso compartment

This little robot also comes with a small plant, and a mini version of the roach named Hal. Interestingly, instead of the fancy black boxes the Lego Ideas theme usually come packaged in, this one has a beautifully yellow design. Keep an eye out for more details, usually when a leak like this happens Lego is quick to officially release more information.

MFX [F] – Aztech Deity Reborn. A Golden Lego Mech.

Lu Sim's Lego Mech MFX-F Aztech Deity Reborn

Lego has always been a place to create your own Mechs. Even Lego has been officially releasing Mechs from at least 1984. Although the official bots are usually simple, the MOCs people have been creating are breaking new ground, in detail and awesomeness. Check out this golden masterpiece, the MFX [F] – Aztech Deity Reborn. It is the third version of the Diety created by Lu Sim. This version features a golden body, with black frame. And, if you look close enough, a little bit of red. The other big change is going with a thinner, more “feminine” type mech. This golden god is just awesome.

The Chicken Buster, A Hulkbuster Parody

Peter C's Lego Chicken Buster

“Did you know there is also a Thor buster, Magneto buster, even Galactus buster? Why not a Chicken buster?” — Peter C.

There have been a lot of Lego Hulkbusters over the past few years, most of them great. It is about time we get the other Busters. First up a Chickenbuster. It looks like Tony Stark woke up late, and grabbed the wrong helmet. He is ready to turn some villains into omelets. Look out. The Chicken Buster is the creation of Peter C, who is having a good time creating new ways to mock the Hulk.

The Lego Y-3 Walker Mech and Pilot is Crazy Good

nobu_tary's Lego Walker Mech Y-3 Pilot

This is the Y-3 Walker Mech and it’s Pilot.  It looks like it has been built out of broken machinery, but it is completely made up of Lego. This creation could fit in perfectly with the world of Mad Max. Scavenging the desert waste lands, looking for any oil or scrap. The unnamed Pilot is the real star of this show. Using a variety of obscure Lego pieces, Minifigure accessories, and inventive SNOT techniques, this guy (or gal) looks more organic then most Lego figures. The gas mask is an especially nice build, as is the use of the old Technic gears for the boot cuffs. The other little details are fun too, communicating that this Pilot is a collector of some sort.

nobu_tary's Lego Walker Mech Y-3

A crazy Pilot must have a crazy vehicle. The Walker Mech Y-3 is a chicken style walker barely big enough to carry one person. It has been outfitted with a luxurious orange bucket seat. The whole thing seems to mainly serve as a place to store knick knacks. Check out the boombox, coffee mug, road signs, and even Mia’s signature. This thing is full of awesome detail.

R.O.B. Joins The Battle. A Smash Bros. Lego MOC.

UnknownBrick Films, Nintendo Smash Bros. Lego ROB

R.O.B. is one of the most well known of the obscure Nintendo characters. This Robotic Operating Buddy originally started out as various pieces of plastic that interfaced with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was a trojan horse, used to get the video game systems onto retailers shelves by marketing the NES as a toy. R.O.B. was quickly abandoned by Nintendo for over a decade. It has found a new home inside the popular video game Smash Bros. UnknownBrick Films created this Lego version of R.O.B. and is quick to point out that it is not their main in Smash. This little guy is made with a whole 16+ pieces. The simple build captures everything you need to know about R.O.B. and is instantly recognizable. Now lets get a whole series of Smash Bros. Lego built!

The FriendsLoader, A Lego Friends Power Loader

Simon Liu's Lego Friends Power Loader

The Lego Friends are a lot tougher then they appear. Stephanie here looks like she is ready to load up some heavy cargo, or to kick some alien butt. There have been some great Minifigure scale Power Loaders, but this is one of the best Friends scale ones. It has even been dressed up with some pink; perfect for fitting in with all the other sets. This exoskeleton has some great details, especially the use of the Lego 1×1 round bricks. This Lego Friends Power Loader uses some common pieces, so it should be easy to build at home.

Lego Military Troopers: X78, X78/B, and X79

Devid VII's Lego Military Troopers X78

This Military Crew consists of the X78, the X78/B and the X79. These guys are sporting some of the best power armor out there. The X78 is a larger hard suit, perfect for tanking, that accommodates a Minifigure sitting down. Outfitted with a large rifle this guy is ready to fight. The X79 is the smaller armor, which makes it much more nimble. This power armor comes with rocket launchers and an automatic weapon. Finally the X78/B is an alternate version of the X78. This time accommodating a standing position, and a little bit more armor. These three Military Troopers are the work of Devid VII. Who shows off some excellent Minifigure scale building techniques. Check out how the standard legs are removed and the power armor is incorporated into the torso. Allowing a more realistic appearance (knees!)
