Cleared for Landing, an Extraordinary Sci-fi Hanger by Raoulosos

Raoulosos' Lego Sci-fi Hanger 1

Lego and Science Fiction go together perfectly. You might even say it is one of the most preferred ways to render futuristic ideas in the present. Here is a starship hanger that shows off exactly what Lego can do. With a lot of great details, for instance: the LCD display (not Lego), Japanese signage, two rafts, two owls, and even a tiny frog. This is also a great example on how to repurpose your seemingly useless Lego pieces.

Most important to this Hanger is the use of color. By using complementary and contrasting colors, Raoulosos, is able to highlight certain details that would otherwise go unseen. Especially apparent with the starship, the tan and green make sure that it stands out from the scenery.

Lego Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Baseship Concept made of 16,387 Pieces!

Garry King's Lego Battlestar Galactica: Ralph McQuarrie Baseship Concept

Battlestar Galactica is one of the more influential science fiction television shows. With an original series from 1978 and a re-imagined series from 2003, along with spinoffs (Caprica), books, comics, video games and more. It is a simple idea, a race of robots built by humans, known as the Cylons, rising up and engaging in war with their creators. But, a whole lot of political intrigue, sabotage, spies, and love triangles create a series that is hard to resist.

Garry King's Lego Battlestar Galactica: Ralph McQuarrie Baseship Concept Top

Garry King has built a massive Lego Battlestar Galactica MOC. This Lego Cylon Baseship is based on an original concept from Ralph McQuarrie. Who was a designer and illustrator for many famous Science Fiction properties, including Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars and E.T. Here Garry King has expanded on Ralph McQuarries sketches by adding all the details. With 16,387 Lego pieces and weighing in at 36.69 pounds (16.64 kg) this is one epic Lego model. The model is large enough to support 3  separate landing bays on the top of the Cylon Baseship. The color choices here help break up the monotonous grey, and combined with the Lego greebling really sell this Baseship.

Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica.

Olivia’s “Flash” – A Lego Friends MOC

Shuppiluliumas's Lego Friends MOC: Olivia's Flash

“I spend hours inventing things. I can reuse and recycle almost anything.” — Olivia (Lego.com)

According to the Lego Friends website, Olivia would like to be a scientist or engineer. Fast forward to the semi-distant future and it looks like Olivia has accomplished her goal. Having just completed building her new spaceship, nicknamed “Flash,” Olivia is ready to see the universe. Knowing that it would be a lonely adventure, Olivia also invented and built a robot copilot named SNAFU (Stellar Navigation Artificial Friend Unit).

This is a super retro Lego rocket ship designed by Shuppiluliumas. This Lego Friends MOC is featuring a very sleek design, dinner plates for engine details, and even an umbrella for the rocket. Accompanying Olivia is a fun little robot, made out of a bunch of tiny parts. This is one elegant starship.

New Super Heroes (Batman): Riddler Chase (76012) with Lego Flash!

Lego Super Heroes: Batman, Riddler Chase 76012

The Lego Super Heroes will be getting a new set this winter. The Lego Super Heroes, the Riddler Chase (76012) will include one of the most requested minifigures: the Lego Flash. The new set will also include minifigures for Batman, and the Riddler. The Lego Riddler Chase is an odd set. Who knows why the Riddler is drag racing with the Batman, who will both loose to the Flash. But, watch out, the Riddler has a banana!

With 304 pieces and a price tag of $29.99, Lego has positioned this set in the affordable range, which surprisingly most Super Hero sets are. Make sure to pick up your Lego Flash, and the rest of the set, in January 2014 when it goes on sale.

(Flash Gordon does not have super-speed)

New Lego Star Wars Announced for March 2014: a Lego AT-AP (75043)!

Star Wars Lego AT-AP

This past weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) Lego announced and revealed a whole lot of new sets. One of which is a new Lego Star Wars AT-AP (75043). This is a new version of the older Lego Star Wars AT-AP Walker (7671), which has proven to be extremely hard to find. The AT-AP (All Terrain Attack Pod) made its first appearance in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It looks like this version will feature five minifigures, a Wookie, Clone Trooper, and three Battle Droids. Gone are the bright red and lime green detailing, giving this Lego AT-AP a much more realistic design. Not to mention vastly superior feet and legs. This new Lego AT-AP will include a total of 717 pieces and will priced at $69.99. Due out in March 2014.

Lego Batman: the Video Game: the Cake sure looks delicious. Designed and baked by Elisa Strauss, www.confetticakes.com, for the official Lego Batman: The Video Game launch party. The cake itself is red velvet.

Lego Friends MOC: Mia’s “Beauty”

Shuppiluliumas's Lego Friends MOC: Mia's Beauty

“Taking her concerns for animal health and welfare to the skies, Mia teams up with veteran gunner Oscar and takes to the skies in ‘Beauty’ a retro-inspired, environmentally conscious low-emission long range scout.”

A Lego Friends MOC with humor and great design is Mia’s “Beauty.” This is a great 1930’s style airplane. With a very fun use of a Lego Friends sticker to create the pin-up girl art, that was so common during this era. “Beauty” is outfitted with a twin propeller (twin-prop) engine and a really cool glass canopy. Mia is ready to fly the skies in her lime green long range scout. Mia’s copilot is her hedgehog “Oscar.” A dangerously cute gunner.

Mia’s “Beauty” is a great example of combining the Lego Friends theme with the other Lego themes. This, along with the Lovely Hotel is one of the most memorable Lego MOCs in the recent years.
