Lego Minifigures Series 12 Review (71007) by WhiteFang

Whitefang Lego Minifigures Series 12 Review

Lego is back with an all new release of their Collectible Minifigures theme. There are a total of sixteen unique Minifigs in the Lego Collectible Minifigures Series 12.
With a recent departure to do some spinoff (The Lego Movie, and The Simpsons) it is good to see Lego pick up where they left off. These new figures will be available in October, although if you are lucky you may find them in stores now. This new series is by far the most detailed, with a whole lot of fancy new sculpts and printing. The only bad news is that Lego has carried over the higher price point that was first used in The Simpsons, $3.99. This feels like the maximum price Lego can sell these for.

One new thing about this release is that every figure comes with a code to activate itself on Lego Minifigures Online.

Whitefang Lego Minifigures Series 12 Complete Set

A super detailed review of each figure has been posted by WhiteFang over on Eurobricks. These reviews have earned their reputation for greatness. You cannot find a better review anywhere. In each box of Series 12 you will find 3 complete sets of Minifigures. Lego seems to be doing a better job of choosing which ones are the most wanted. With the most common being: Video Game Guy (5), Space Miner (5), and Swashbuckler (5). The uncommon Minifigs are: Wizard (4), Battle Goddess (4), Dino Tracker (4), Pizza Delivery Guy (4), Rock Star (4), and Piggy Guy (4). Finally, the rare figures are: Hun Warrior (3), Fairytale Princess (3), Lifeguard (3), Prospector (3), Jester (3), Genie Girl (3), and Spooky Girl (3). The biggest surprise here is that the Princess is a rare figure, with the recent popularity of the Disney Princess Lego theme it doesn’t make sense.

The best thing about these figures is that everyone has a different favorite. As for me, I will spend my time looking for a Gamer (and maybe a Wizard).

So far, only the set names, release date (November 7th!), and price points have been revealed…

First Image of the New Lego Minecraft Micro World: The End (21107)

Lego Minecraft Micro World The End 21107

The first photo of the new Lego Minecraft Micro World: The End (21107) has been revealed. The new set will be available sometime this summer (2014). The set designer, Steen, is showing off the new set. Which will feature the Endermen and an Ender Dragon. This is the forth set in the line, and if Lego were to discontinue the theme this would be the perfect release. Or, maybe there are still other Minecraft Micro Worlds in the works…

I wonder how this set will fit in with the other Minecraft Micro Worlds.

Custom Lego Minifigures from BrickUltra: Wave 2

BrickUltra has just released information about their Wave 2 release of their Custom Lego Minifigures. These new Minifigs are digitally printed, meaning that the quality and detail is amazing. These feature printing that completely covers the Minifig head, arms, and legs. The first four Minifigures all appear to be based on popular video games. I recognize Titanfall, and Borderlands 2, but for some odd reason I can’t place the other two. They are being sold for $30, and ship will be shipping in March.

BrickUltra's Custom Lego Minifigure: MechPilot

“Prepare to drop! Each Mech Pilot’s body armor is equipped with a jet pack which allows them to hop across the battlefield! Despite these abilities, the Mech Pilot can still be squashed like ants if they are not careful around an enemy Mech.”

BrickUltra's Custom Lego Minifigure: Psycho

“Psychos are bandits who have gone insane with a freakish obsession for loot. Shirtless, wearing a white mask and dressed in orange pants, these outlaws can be immediately identified by their homicidal cries, psychotic laughter and constant desire to get into close combat.”

BrickUltra's Custom Lego Minifigure: Ultra

“Ultra was constructed by a famed scientist/adventurer, who experimenting in high-intelligence robotics. Ultra became sentient and rebelled, hypnotizing the scientist and brainwashing him into forgetting that Ultra had ever existed. He immediately began improving upon his rudimentary design, quickly upgrading himself.”

BrickUltra's Custom Lego Minifigure: Carmine

“In the Carmine family, military service was simply an expectation; they didn’t do it for a sense of duty or honor or patriotism. Instead, they “simply loved to shoot guns, blow stuff up, and never turn down a knock-down, drag-out fight.”

My First Game Console (Sprite Edition): A Lego NES + Instructions.

Chris McVeigh's My First Game Console, A Lego NES

A good amount of Lego fans have at one point or another fallen in love with the Nintendo Entertainment System. The NES was originally released in 1983 in Japan with red and gold styling. The black and gray system didn’t show up until 1985 in North America and 1986 in Europe. For many people this would be their first video game console. Most kids at the time could be found in front of their TV having an adventure with Link or saving the princess with Mario. A good many of these kids were also enjoying the Lego Classic Space or Castle theme at the same time.

Chris McVeigh (Powerpig) has created a great Lego NES MOC with only 220 pieces. The end result is the main console, two controllers and two games. Perfect for some multiplayer. The cartridges can even be inserted into the NES. Although you may need to blow on them first.

The coolest thing ever, is that Chris McVeigh has provided super detailed instructions for you to build a Lego NES at home. Check out the PDF for a parts list. If you don’t happen to have all the necessary pieces My First Game Console (Sprite Edition) is available for purchase through Chris McVeigh’s online store. With preorders shipping out in about 2 weeks.

Lego Team Fortress 2 Upward. Blue vs. Red fighting for Lego hats.

CaptainInfinity's Lego Team Fortress 2 Upward

Team Fortress 2 is a free-to-play first person shooter. The whole economy for the video game is sustained by an elaborate real world market for hats. Everything from iPod earphones to Sam & Max caps. The game has a certain timeless charm to it, and that is because it has some great art design. The cartoonish look translates into Lego pretty well. CaptainInfinity has created this MOC diorama titled Upward. Based on one of the most famous and popular levels in Team Fortress 2.

CaptainInfinity's Lego Team Fortress 2 Upward Blue Team

Upward depicts the epic struggle between team Blue and team Red. It appears that team Red is currently in the lead, as 1 of the Blue team members has met their untimely end. Thats not even counting the Spy sneaking up on the Sniper. There are a few details in this MOC that really stand out. The “Red” billboard is a good example of some advanced building techniques. Especially that “R.“ The other charming detail is the skeletal remains buried underneath the mine.

“I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…” Pokemon Lego Ash and Misty

lisqr's Pokemon Lego Misty

Pokémon is still going strong today with the recent release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the Nintendo 3DS. Even the original Gameboy games are being sought after and collected today by fans. These original games, titled Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, lead to a television show spinoff. The original animated series made its debut in 1998 with a prime after school timeslot. The show took many liberties compared to the Gameboy games. With a whole cast of reappearing characters that were not present in the original games. The two most memorable are Ash, and his friends Misty and Brock. Two of these have been carefully recreated in Lego by lisqr.

Lego Misty is a great SNOT style figure. With her super orange hair and trademarked blue shorts and yellow tanktop her design is spot on. The anime style hair and eyes are especially good. Lego Ash on the other hand is wearing his (oversized) red and white hat. His design allows him to have more articulation then the Misty figure. I can just imagine him hassling a Lego Pikachu.

To get the best impression of these MOCs make sure to play the Pokémon theme song. “I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…”

Bioshock Lego, The Amazing Handyman

Mr Scare Chrome's Lego Bioshock, The Amazing Handyman

In Bioshock Infinite the big bad guy is more often then not the Handyman. These huge mechanical men would be integrated into a robotic body as a way of prolonging their lives. Too bad Booker DeWitt came along and killed a whole bunch of them. This Minifigure scale Handyman is great. The minimalistic treatment to the robotic body is a great fit, and the minifigure head is a perfect match for their character.
