The Lego Time Machine

Everyone would want a Time Machine. Imagine what you could do with one. Carl Merriam built his own, which is inspired by the classic H.G. Wells novel titled The Time Machine. The novel was first published back in 1895, an important note as at the time the wooden and brass styling was considered futuristic. Now this style is more often associated with Steam Punk, which that is based on old science fiction novels. The red, brown and gold colors here work extremely well, and the blue highlights pop out in a good way. Lego sure has come a long way, something like this would have been impossible to build 10 years ago. As color and part choice was completely different a decade ago. You would have needed a Time Machine in order to build this. Just watch out for Morlocks.

Lego Bender On A Bender

Futurama is one of the best TV shows ever made, and it’s no wonder that some truly epic MOCs have been created. But none are as cute as this Lego Bender. This little robot is featured in a creation titled “A Saturday Bender.” This vignette features the little robot doing what he does best. Getting completely plastered while watching Saturday morning cartoons. The use of the Lego flexible tubes and some creative part use makes this the cutest Bender Bending Rodríguez ever. The Aquilax Fleet – A Lego Micro Space Project

Purple is an extremely unfamiliar color for most Lego builders. In the past Lego has associated purple with Lego Friends or other girl-targeted themes. But, purple is on the rise. A lot of the Super Heroes sets feature a good amount of purple, and the color is popping up in small amounts everywhere. The popularity of Lego Friends also means that it easy to acquire a lot of purple bricks quickly. Tim Goddard decided to create a whole Lego Space fleet in micro scale using purple. This collection of spaceships is known as the Aquilax Fleet. Featuring a Destroyer, Frigate, Flagship and a few smaller starfighters. The gold accents and white base color contrast with the purple perfectly. Creating very clean, but almost alien looking starships. By restricting the part selection, and focusing on a micro-build, the designer has forced themselves to get creating with the Lego pieces.

Tim Goddard has also put out a call for other Lego builders to contribute to a Micro-/Nano-Space Fly-In. Where you can “contribute to the rag-tag fleet of space-based Refugees, Imperiums, Federations, Independents, Raiders, Pirates, Aliens, Ancients & More.” Check out http://www.mocslug.com/fly-in2014/ for more details. Robots and Lego are a natural fit. The once successful Bionicle is getting ready to make a come back. In a lot of ways Bionicle is just a starting point for your own creations. With the right pieces and an active imagination one can create something awesome. This Lego robot is the creation of Nick V. It is titled Tarakia – Master of Mind and it is an example of what can be created with Lego. If Lego could release something like this as an official set, it would sell like crazy. But, this type of work is usually super delicate and will not hold up to play. Nick V. had been creating a whole series of these robots, and each one is super detailed and has a full backstory documented.

Become Legend with Custom Destiny Lego Minifigures

“Guardians are fighting on Earth and beyond. Join them.”

Check out these cool custom Lego Minifigures based on the sci-fi MMO Destiny. Living Legend spent months perfecting these Guardians. They feature unique vinyl stickers, and custom paint work. These Minifigs are ready to destroy their alien enemies, or spend hours shooting wildly into a cave.

Lego Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer #2 is Awesome

Guardians of the Galaxy is almost upon us. The early reviews are looking good. It is great to get some of the more obscure Marvel characters the attention they deserve. Maybe, they will be featured in an upcoming Lego Marvel game?

The Ultra Violet, a Deadly Lego Friends Mecha

The official Lego Friends sets can be a bit limiting. They are completely rooted in a city theme, with no signs of expanding into the other Lego themes (Pirates, Space, etc.) A great way to work around this is to create your own Lego creations. One of the best features about Lego is just how modular the pieces are, almost every Lego part can be used with another Lego part. Mark Stafford used his imagination and created a sci-fi themed Lego Friends mecha titled the Ultra Violet. The best part of these MOCs is the innovative use of obscure Lego pieces. Check out the pink baskets, lipsticks, telephones, lightsaber beams, and wood panels. Check out the Friends section for more examples of this.
