Rule An Island With The New Lego Pirates Of Barracuda Bay (21322) Set

Lego Pirates Of Barracuda Bay (21322) Set

Lego has surprised their Pirates fans by announcing a new set. The Pirates of Barracuda Bay (21322) is the newest Lego Ideas release. It looks like the famous Black Seas Barracuda has been shipwrecked. But, the crew are making the best of it and turned the remains into a pirate island. With 2545 pieces, and 8 Minifigures. Lego has priced the set at $199.99/€199.99 with an April 1st release.

This set has the greatest play feature Lego has ever released. The pirates can work together, fix up the wrecked Barracuda and take to the seas. All three sections can be removed from the island, and combined into a full remake of the Black Seas Barracuda. You could say the sandy island is a really fancy display stand.

The new ship has a lot in common with the original 1989 release. It is a remake but with a lot of details updated to more modern Lego building techniques. Some of those new details include a completely reworked bow and stern, a fully furnished interior, and a new curvier hull. The new Black Seas Barracuda is instantly recognizable, and yet almost completely new.

Inhabiting this island is Captain Redbeard, Lady Anchor, Robin Loot, Tattooga, Pirate Twins Port and Starboard, Quartermaster Riggings, and Jack “Dark Shark” Doubloons. Also included are two prisoners, who have long since expired (skeletons). There is even a secret buried treasure that can be discovered.

Level Up With Lego Super Mario Details And Video

Lego Super Mario Theme Details

Lego has revealed new details about their new theme based on Super Mario. Previously they showcased a short teaser video on MAR10 day, and now they are showing off a lot more of the theme. It is very clear in the provided details that this set is being produced for kids. The whole theme is a new direction for Lego, which they put best stating:

“Neither a video game nor a traditional LEGO brick-based set, LEGO® Super Mario™ is a new product line that features an interactive LEGO Mario figure who collects coins in real-life game levels created with LEGO bricks. The new line will let kids experience the playful world of Super Mario like never before. Super Mario will be brought to life in the physical LEGO world and new levels of challenge and styles of play will be part of the iconic LEGO experience enjoyed by generations.”

There is no release date or pricing details at this time. Lego did announce that more information is coming soon, with a planned release in the Summer of 2020.

Lego Goomba And Mario
Lego Super Mario Set

This new theme seems to fit in between Duplo and the Classic System sets. They share a lot in common with the recent Lego Junior sets. A lot of big pieces and simple building techniques.

The new sets features a bluetooth enabled Mario, with interactive screens and speakers. With these new electronic abilities Mario is able to interact with the Lego set by keeping scores, playing music, and setting a timer. He features realativly few brick customizing features. It looks like only the iconic Mario hat and a few 1×1 rounds are removable.

The new Lego Super Mario theme looks a whole lot like the Mario Party video games. The sets combine to create a board game looking layout. You could say they are recreating the platforming levels from the games. As you move Lego Mario around you can stomp on Goombas, defeat Koopa Troopas, swim past Bloopers, and embarrass Shy Guys. There is even a boss at the end, this time its Baby Bowser.

Lego Mario Party Video Game
Lego Shy Guy

Along the way Lego Mario can find some help. A brick built Lego Yoshi, a handy Warp Pipe, and even Toad’s house. Some quick notes about the theme: It seems that the interactive features are found in various new Lego pieces. The big feet piece found on Yoshi and the Shy Guy probably hides some of the electronics, as does the turtle shell on Baby Bower. There are also a lot of new plates. A very interesting design in the green plates topping the landscaping is that they are probably hiding other electronic bits.

The Lego Super Mario theme looks like a lot of fun for kids. The Mario Party design is interesting, and all the features of Bluetooth Mario could prove to be fun.

Lego Super Mario Theme Announced On MAR10 Day!

Lego Super Mario Theme Announced On MAR10 Day!

It’s a me, Lego Mario!

It’s MAR10 Day (March 10th), a celebration of everything Mario related. For the event Nintendo is pushing coupons and discounts on various Mario video games and products. But the surprising news is from Lego, they have announced an official Lego Super Mario theme coming soon. Not a lot of details are available, other than the announcement teaser. The short video shows off what looks like the famous Mario Mario in some sort of Lego form. Clearly not a Minifigure. It looks like a whole new type of figure. Judging by the mostly standard Lego arms, the body is much shorter and wider than normal. Perched on top is an almost square head. Not unlike the Minecraft theme, but with even less in common with the Minifig. It is also unclear if this will be a normal theme in the Classic system, or something closer to the Duplo system. Let us hope that Lego and Nintendo don’t forget about the best Mario brother… Luigi!

Stay tuned for more, and check out the Lego Super Mario announcement below (or here)!

The Little Lego Fiat 500 Is Ready To Paint The Town

Little Lego Fiat 500

The Fiat 500 is a classic car often seen across the European continent. The two door compact car was famous for its ability to fit easily into tight city streets. It was manufactured in Italy between 1957 and 1975. As the years passed, the smaller design mixed with the curvy styling quickly made this a collectible. All of which makes it perfect as the latest release of the Lego Creator theme.

The History And Future Of LegoGenre And EverydayBricks

LegoGenre 00001: In The Criminal Justice System

LegoGenre | 00001: In the criminal justice system…

The Early Days

LegoGenre originally started out as a Tumblr, way back in 2012. The name LegoGenre was selected, it was a reference to the multiple themes (or Genres) that are popular in Lego. So, the very first picture was posted in January and for over a year was the best way to find my photos. The whole project was a a way to engage with my reignited Lego obsession. And at that time, LegoGenre would focus on photos of Minifigures taken from their prospective.

For the first two months I was working on a daily photo challenge. That was going to lead to a creative burn out, so soon afterwards the project settled into a three photos per week project. It was a satifying time, and soon LegoGenre began to expand. Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts were established. The whole project was getting a good response.

One thing about the Lego community is that there are a few major places where photos and projects get shared. The biggest and more vibrant community is found on Flickr. So a new LegoGenre Flickr account was made. It quickly became time consuming to post each new photo on all these services. So it was decided that something needed to change.

LegoGenre’s LegoGenre Mosaic

LegoGenre.com And Blogging

In 2013 I chose to get out of the Tumblr system and venture off on my own. Once the idea was formed it was relatively easy to get started. It was decided to run the website myself and to use the WordPress platform. So in April of 2013 LegoGenre.com was officially born. As I was posting my photos of Lego on the new website, I though why not highlight Lego photos, MOCs and News from other people.

LegoGenre would slowly take off over the next few months, eventually finding a small audience. A big thanks to all the visitors and fans during this time. Your support and engagement helped to push LegoGenre into expanding and is a large part in why it stuck around.

The small ad revenue during this time kept the website online. (A thank you to anyone who clicked on them!) This activity lasted for a few years, but the slowing of traffic mixed with less posting put the website into decline. There were a lot of little things that bothered me about the site (more details in an upcoming post) and a change needed to happen.

EverydayBricks Lego Relief, LegoGenre and EverydayBricks

The Future Of LegoGenre And EverydayBricks

LegoGenre is now EverydayBricks! The new website is focused on loading faster. With less outside calls (less plugins and features). The new simpler design is also focused on providing a better mobile and tablet experience. Besides checking out the site every day, you can also follow LegoGenre and EverydayBricks on a new Twitter account: https://twitter.com/everyday_bricks which is focused only on website updates.

This is a great time for EverydayBricks. Some of planned content includes:

• Daily posts/updates. (Mostly MOCs from other people, and official Lego news. The Every Day Bricks.)

• LegoGenre Photos. (A focus on photos of Minifigures taken from their prospective.)

• More original reviews. (Lego Modulars, and other official sets, past and present)

• More original features. (Longer wordcount posts with thoughts on Lego, projects, and games)

Make sure to update your website bookmarks to http://everydaybricks.com and check back often to see all the new stuff. Thanks!

New Lego Minions Theme, Ready To Invent In April

Lego Minions Theme 75551 Brick Built Minions And Their Lair

Lego Minions are one of the most popular themes for MOCs. Almost everybody seems to like them, and there are a million different ways to build them. So it is no surprise that Lego has officially announced a new Lego Minions Theme. Five sets were revealed at the 2020 New York Toy Fair. The biggest set (and coolest) revealed is 75551 Brick-built Minions and their Lair. It features two substantial brick built minions, Kevin and Stuart. They look great on their own, but they also come with 3 Minion Figures/Minifigures. They also mention that you can rebuild Kevin into Bob, but exactly what is going on is unclear in the photos.

The surprise with this set is that the giant Minions can open up to reveal their hidden lairs/rooms. Kevin opens up into a tall laboratory. Perfect for inventing crazy stuff. While Stuart opens up into a bedroom. Full of toys and games. The new sets also feature Instructions PLUS, a new interactive set of building instructions for your phone and tablet.

Winnie The Pooh And Blacksmith Featured In New Lego Ideas Review

Winnie The Pooh Featured In New Lego Ideas Review

Lego Winnie the Pooh is one of the next Lego Ideas sets. Featuring Poohs house in the 100 Acre Wood. The submitted design features a removable roof, with a fully furnished interior. It also features minifigures and brick built figures for Eeyore, Piglet, Pooh, Rabbit, Tigger, and Owl. It will be interesting to see what the official set will be, and if it will contain so many custom minifigs.

Blacksmith Featured In New Lego Ideas Review

Also approved by Lego is the Medieval Blacksmith. The announcement specifically complimented the colors and overall design. The submitted model is a rather large set. With removable roof/floors (like in the Modulars) and fully furnished interiors. This is an extremely detailed Blacksmith model and it will be interesting to see what Lego cuts out before the official release.

New Lego Ideas Review 2nd 2019

Lego also offered an update on the Anatomini project. They announced that ultimately they would pass on the design. It was a very cool project, but maybe some people don’t like to think about what is inside a minifigure…

The Lego Batman Movie Soundtrack – Who’s The (Bat)Man

The Lego Batman Movie Soundtrack, Who's The Batman

The Lego Batman Movie has an amazing soundtrack. Make sure to listen to the films main single, it sums up the character from the film extremely well. “Who’s The (Bat)Man” is written and performed by Patrick Stump of the band Fall Out Boy. The song has a way of staying in your brain long after listening to it. “I’m 100% not Bruce Wayne!”

The other title track from the movie is “Friends Are Family,” with Jeff Lewis and Will Arnett. This is a more typical/expected pop song from the film, and it feels like it could fit right in with The Lego Movie.
