Lego Winter Village Market (10235)

Lego Winter Village Market (10235)

Lego has announced its latest entry in the Winter Village theme. The Lego Winter Village Market (10235) will be available in October, just in time for the upcoming holiday season. This new set will come 1,261 pieces and be part of the Lego Creator theme. The whole set will include 9 minifigures, with Lego specifically calling out that there will be 3 females, 2 males, and 4 children. Sadly most of these minifigs have been seen in other previous sets.

This Winter Village is actually a Winter Carnival. Featuring a brick built Merry-Go-Round, Bucket Challenge carnival game, and 3 food stands. The Carousel includes two horses, with some extremely lovely bridle printing. This set is great for filling in your Winter Village with more life and activity.

It is not too late to build your own Lego Winter Village. Some of the sets from previous years are still available, for instance the Lego Winter Village Cottage (10229) can still be purchased at Amazon.

Check out the official Lego Design video for all the details:

“Bring home the holiday spirit with the Winter Village Market, continuing the popular LEGO® Winter Village Series. Turn the handle and take a ride on the rocking horse as the carousel spins! Visit the carnival booth. Fill up on holiday and fair favorites including a pie, pretzel and croissant at the baker’s stand, chicken and sausage at the grill stand or sweet treats at the candy shop. Celebrate a holiday season full of traditions and building with the Winter Village Market! Includes 9 minifigures with accessories: 3 females, 2 males and 4 children.” — Lego

Lego Back To The Future: DeLorean Time Machine — Minifigure Details!

Just a few days ago the Lego Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine release date and early images were released. At the time the question was whether or not minifigs would be included. Now, BrickNews has verified that minifigs will come with the set when it is released on July 18th. A little Marty McFly and Emmett Brown (Doc) minifig will be piloting the DeLorean. The inclusion of these two minifigs has resparked interest in this new set, which will certainly be popular.

Not only that, but the DeLorean Time Machine will include instructions with alternate builds for the DeLorean. Featuring 3 different versions that will cover the whole trilogy. It also looks like instruction manual will include information and details from the Back to the Future trilogy will be included. Awesome!

Lego Back To The Future: DeLorean Time Machine — Release Details

Lego has finally released some official details about the upcoming Back to the Future: DeLorean Time Machine set. Almost two years ago this project started out on the Lego CUUSOO website. The DeLorean quickly earned its 10,000 votes and was surprisingly approved by Lego for release. There have been no details between the announcement and now. BrickFanatics quickly discovered this announcement from a Lego store newsletter. The Lego Back to the Future: DeLorean Time Machine will be released on July 18th!

Maybe Lego has been quiet on this for so long because the build has changed so much. Some would argue that it is noticeably more ugly. Also, no news on a Marty McFly, or Emmett Brown (Doc) minifig.

The Lord of the Rings, the Tower of Orthanc (10237) Reviewed @ Eurobricks

Rufus's The Tower Of Orthanc Review 1

The first full review for the new Lego, the Lord of the Rings, the Tower of Orthanc (10237) has been released, and it is over at Eurobricks. Rufus has written up a super cool review, showcasing every tiny detail of this towering tower. Oddly enough Lego has made two conflicting sets in the same release. To put it bluntly the Wizard Battle (79005) is a mini version of the Tower of Orthanc. So, if you cannot afford the full price, the smaller mini set is a good alternative. As Rufus points out in his review, the white wizard Saruman is actually different in both sets, meaning that if you are a completist then you will need both.

Rufus's The Tower Of Orthanc Review 2

Rufus's The Tower Of Orthanc Review 3

The Tower of Orthanc is a full six floors, with 2,359 pieces, and really is one of the tallest Lego models to date. It measures 28″ tall (71cm), which is over 2 feet! The inclusion a fully posable and working brick built Ent is wonderful. And although, the inclusion of an Eagle is also great, it is a shame that it is a molded figure. At least it can be replaced with the Lego Creator Fierce Flyer (31004) which makes a great brick built eagle.

The overall opinion is that this is a great set from Lego, which features an unbelievable amount of black bricks. The price to brick ratio (8.5¢) is also reasonable, which is rare for a licensed set.

Lego Creator: Sydney Opera House (10234)

Lego Sydney Opera House (10234) Box

Brickworld is currently happening in Chicago, and Lego has  decided to reveal a few new things. Besides the CUUSOO update, Lego has announced their next Creator set: the Sydney Opera House. This new model features 2,989 Lego pieces, built on three baseboards with a modular setup. This approach to building allows this massive set to be moved around easily, without becoming flimsy or delicate. Australia’s most famous Opera House has always been a challenge for Lego to create. The modern curves and clean lines are not the easiest thing to render in Lego. Lego finally believes they have achieved it and will be offering the Sydney Opera House (10234) for sale this September.

“One of the 20th century’s most distinctive buildings- the Sydney Opera House™. Build the unmistakable shell roofline, waterfront forecourt and more with this authentic representation of Australia’s most iconic building. Employ a variety of new and advanced building techniques to recreate the complex forms, angled walls and subtle detailing of the real thing! Collect lots of dark tan LEGO® bricks including the rare 1x1x2/3 stud and 1x2x2/3 stud slopes, as well as a 48×48 stud baseplate in blue for the very first time!” — Lego

Lego has released a design video showcasing the new Opera House: http://youtu.be/30qZPIXEEHo

Lego CUUSOO 005 Review, NASA’s Mars Rover Curiosity Go!

It is official, NASA’s Mars Rover Curiosity is ready to… launch… as the next Lego CUUSOO project. Coming as no surprise to anyone (they have already approved 3 other science based CUUSOO projects). Curiosity was one of three projects considered, the other two were a Star Wars Jawa Sandcrawler, and a Portal 2 theme. No word was said about the Sandcrawler, but there is a little bit said about Portal 2. I will not ruin the surprise (don’t get too excited), you will have to watch the whole video to learn more.

Other CUUSOO news, still no official word or update on the upcoming Back to the Future Delorean Time Machine. Doc. Brown is getting impatient.

First Photos from the upcoming Lego Minifigures Series 11

Lego Minifigures Series 11 Photos: Yeti, Welder, Female Robot, Evil Robot, Scientist

The first photo of the upcoming Lego Minifigures Series 11 has been leaked. Featuring an Evil Mech, Scientist, Yeti, Female Robot, and a Welder. Not pictured here, and not yet confirmed are the figures Jazz Musician, Constable, Holiday Elf, Bavarian Woman, Scarecrow, Mountain Climber, Grandmother, Tike Warrior, Gingerbread Man, Barbarian and Dinner Waitress. The early rumors say that the set will be available sometime around September.

Lego seems to be going strong with the collectible minifigs. No one would have predicted 11 series for this theme. The detail and number of unique parts is what keeps these things going. So far this set is looking pretty good. And, hopefully the distribution will be reasonable. (Stupid Skydiver!)

Series 10 was just recently released, so make sure to pick up a couple of those before this one hits stores. Maybe you will even find a Mr. Gold?
