Lego Creator Detective’s Office and Barber Shop (10246)

Lego has officially released details on the new Lego Creator Detective’s Office and Barber Shop (10246) Modular Building. Information for this new set leaked earlier this week (see here and here). It looks like this set is two different buildings, like the Pet Shop, but the Detective’s Office and Barber Shop are joined together into one building. This set has been designed with a story in mind. Detective Ace Brickman, a Mysterious Woman in Red, and a Police Officer snooping around are all part of the plot. The set comes with 2,262 pieces and will retail for $159.99. With a January 2015 release.

On the ground level of the Detective’s Office is a pool hall, called the Highlander. Amazingly it looks like the there is some underground betting going on too.

The front of the building features two balcony and a hidden fire escape. Perfect for sneaking around.

Next door is a barber shop which features a real mirror. Thats right a real Lego mirror.

New Details. The Detective’s Office, a Lego Creator Modular Building (10246)

The new Detective’s Office Modular Building (10246) is getting ready for release, and the back of the box has been leaked. The front of the box and the first details were leaked just a few days ago. This Modular is looking good. The Detective’s Office will be two-stories, and the Barber Shop will be three-stories. The little details look great, there is an emergency escape from the Office, some wanted posters, a safe full of money, mirrors in the Barber Shop, a pool room, an old style toilet, and a full apartment above the shop. It looks like your Minifigures can get into a lot of adventures here.

The Detective’s Office, a NEW Lego Modular Building (10246) Revealed

The first image for the upcoming Lego Modular Detective’s Office (10246) has just leaked. Lego has been able to keep these new Modular Building releases secret for much longer then their normal releases. The new Detective’s Office will be released around January of 2015, which is only 2 months away. The Detective’s Office (Detective’s Agency) is a new direction for the Lego Modular Buildings. This new release will add a more seedy or bad section to town. It is a huge change in tone that the Modular theme needed. This set features the duel building design that was popular in the Pet Shop (10218). A Detective’s Office and Barber Shop. And, as usual a lot of interesting parts are being used. A whole ton of the new Lego brick-pattern pieces are used to build the Detective’s Office. A few Unikitty tails used for the roof detailing. There is even the new ball joints being used as column decorations. Everything needed to create your favorite film noir scenes are here. Including a woman in a red dress!

The Lego Creator Fairground Mixer (10244) Revealed, a Magical Traveling Carnival

Lego has recently announced the new Lego Creator set, the Fairground Mixer (10244). A great complimentary set for the Grand Carousel (10196). The Fairground Mixer arrives aboard a huge truck, along with all the other pieces for a traveling carnival. The Mixer ride can be unfolded from the truck, and in a few easy steps it can be ready to ride. The ride features some ingenious mechanicals allowing it to spin and turn with the help of a hand crank. If that seems too laborious, then you can hook up your own Lego Power Functions for a fully automated experience. The Fairground Mixer will include 1,746 pieces at $149.99. It will be available this June, 2014.

The Fairground Mixer comes with a whole lot of other stuff too. A ticket booth, a dunk tank, and a strongman game (high striker). All of this can be packed up on the two include trucks for easy transportation.

These two trucks are really neat, and Lego has done a great job squeezing all of the rides and details onto these fully functioning vehicles.

What would a traveling carnival be without the crowds. Lego has included 12 Minifigures, which seems to be very generous (compared to their other recent releases). There is the quintessential queasy man who is holding it all back after a ride on the Mixer. A female carnival guest and two children (boy and girl).

There is also another female guest ready for some fun. A strong man challenger. A truck driver/ride operator. And, a juggling man/carnival employee.

Finally there is the ticket booth operator, two more children (boy and girl) and the dunk tank lady.

Lego Parisian Restaurant Modular Building (10243) Reviewed by Huw

Lego has been steadily releasing new Modular Buildings for the past few years. The recent, Palace Cinema (10232), and Town Hall (10224) have proven extremely popular. The newest set is the Parisian Restaurant (10243) which should be hitting shelves in the near future. Huw, from Brickset, has recently posted an early photo review of this highly anticipated set. The Parisian Restaurant comes with the now standard 3 step instructions. Which, should take anywhere from 5-9 hours to complete.

There are a whole lot of new and rare pieces included this time around. The most recognizable is the new Lego Scooter. This little red Vespa influenced scooter is extremely cute, and fits in perfectly with the Parisian Restaurant. Also included are a whole lot bricks in the new Olive Green Lego color. Since the whole building is based on this rare color, the Parisian Restaurant is probably the best source for these parts.

Featuring five Minifigures, a chef, waiter, two restaurant patrons, and the female scooter pilot. As usual, these included Minifigs all feature the classic smiling Lego head. I like to think of the blonde man as a Lego Owen Wilson.

Huw notes that the increased detail means that the Restaurant takes longer to build. All three floors are furnished, with the bottom floor featuring an impressive amount of details. From the fully tiled flooring, to the full kitchen, everything here looks great.

The Lego Parisian Restaurant is an excellent new entry in the Modular Building theme. The previous two seemed to be missing a certain spark for some fans, but this set has reignited their enthusiasum. The other good news is that there are no stickers this time around. Everything here is given the premium treatment from Lego.

Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243) Modular Building Revealed!

During Brickcon 2013 Lego has officially revealed the newest Modular Building, the Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243). This is a very different modular then the recent releases from Lego. The building doesn’t completely fill (vertically) the 32 stud baseplate. Instead having a small outdoor patio on the roof of the first floor. The first floor is an extremely detailed parisian restaurant. With a small apartment (Murphy bed!) on the second floor, and an artist studio at the top. This set will come with 2,469 pieces at a price of $159.99. The Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243) will be available to purchase in January 2014.

The Parisian Restaurant feels like it has been influenced by the rare Lego Market Street (10190) Modular Building. Although this new restaurant seems to avoid the problems that Market Street had. A more standard design that fits in with the other Modulars, and much more carefully thought out features. It looks like this set will fit in nicely with the latest Modular Buildings.

It’s very busy in the Parisian Restaurant. As a scooter zips by, inside the waiter rushes between the tables as the nervous young man gets ready to propose with the ring! It’s just as hectic behind the scenes, with the chef busily preparing the food. The Parisian Restaurant has a fully-stocked, blue and white tiled kitchen with tableware as well as a cozy apartment with pull-down bed, kitchenette and fireplace. Lego Sydney Opera House (10234) Review by Drudoo @ Eurobricks

The new Lego Sydney Opera House (10234) has been reviewed by Drudoo over at Eurobricks. With 2,989 pieces and a $320 price tag, this new Creator set is one of the biggest Lego releases this year. To say that this is only an upgrade to the original Lego Architecture Sydney Opera House (21012) is an understatement. Everything about this set is different and it even hides a few surprises. There are so many pieces and bags that the set comes in multiple boxes, just like the massive Lego Star Wars Death Star (10188). Lego made the smart decision of including the instruction manuals and such in a separate card board reinforced bag. Preventing the problem of bent instruction manuals. It would be nice if this would become standard for all their sets.

As the base for the Opera House is built up, it is noted that this whole set is extremely sturdy. With none of the wobbly problems that some of the larger sets in the past have had. The Lego Sydney Opera House contains so much tan, but does a good job of not being boring. The set really starts to get interesting when building the “sails.” These structures are surprisingly technical, and are not as simple to build as they look. Using a combination of technic and advanced building techniques to achieve the correct angles and placement of every part.

Lego Creator: Sydney Opera House (10234)

Brickworld is currently happening in Chicago, and Lego has decided to reveal a few new things. Besides the CUUSOO update, Lego has announced their next Creator set: the Sydney Opera House. This new model features 2,989 Lego pieces, built on three baseboards with a modular setup. This approach to building allows this massive set to be moved around easily, without becoming flimsy or delicate. Australia’s most famous Opera House has always been a challenge for Lego to create. The modern curves and clean lines are not the easiest thing to render in Lego. Lego finally believes they have achieved it and will be offering the Sydney Opera House (10234) for sale this September.
