Looking For Flies On A Full Moon Night, Weretoad Lego MOC

Every full moon some people turn into Weretoads. For one crazy night, every fly around is in danger. The Lego Weretoad MOC is created by Letranger Absurde. Built as an entry into the MOC Wars, where the challenge was to create a Lycanthrope type character that is not a dog or wolf. The end result is a weird mix of human, toad, and monster. The brick built figure features some really interesting parts. You can find Overwatch themed shoulder armor used for the chin/neck, a car hood piece used for the torso, various gray silver/gold bricks in the arms, and even a red horn used for a tongue. A lot of joints feature a full range of motion which means that this Weretoad can be displayed almost any way you can dream of. Just make sure any flies hanging around are safe.

Lego Ultraman Will Save The World

Ultraman is a character from the Ultra Series, a collection of TV shows, films, and video games. One of the first giant monster fighting series from Japan. This Lego Ultraman (ウルトラマン) is created by Moko. The figure has a lot of interesting features, and is a deceptively complicated build. Ultraman has been built in parts, kind of like a bunch of mini builds, and then assembled at the end. This type of design means that each part looks complete, and every angle that you can view of the figure looks good. Ultraman is fully posable, and features a full set of articulation points. The head can move side to side, up and down, and swivel. The torso can turn side to side, while the arms move at the elbow and feature a neat double jointed shoulder. There are also joints in the wrists, fingers, pelvis, knees, and ankles. All of that means that this Ultraman can be displayed any way you can think. A Lego Fell Beast Is Hunting Hobbits

In The Lord of the Rings, the Nazgul almost found the One Ring a few times in their search. In the Two Towers, one of the most scary moments is when Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are hiding in the ruins of Osgiliath. The Witch King almost uncovers the Hobbits, but Frodo perseveres and they remain hidden. This scene has been recreated by Aaron Newman in this Lego MOC called “Wraiths With Wings!” The build features two main parts. The ruined tower base, and the massive brick-built Fell Beast that can perch on top. The dragon like beast is fully posable, and even features folding brick built wings. The full range of movement in the wings and in the body means that the beast has to be designed very carefully. There needs to be enough support to hold up all the weight, and all that weight needs to be perfectly balanced on two feet (and sometimes a tail). For some added support when perched atop the tower, there are a few technic pins holding it on. According to the designer this ended up being the hardest part of this build. One of the best details is the work done in the head and mouth of the Lego Fell Beast. The bright red tongue and sickeningly pink mouth contrast with the muted colors of the dragon. The end result looks terrifyingly great, it almost looks like it could be an official set. The final model 1,251 pieces, which is a bit less than expected.

Filming King Kong vs. Godzilla

King Kong vs. Godzilla is one of those classic film match ups. Everyone imagines how they think the fight would go down. In the film King Kong vs. Godzilla, from 1962 the two monsters fight it out on top of Mount Fuji, with Kong eventually emerging as the winner. An interesting story, but a lot of fans wanted to see them fight in a big city. This Lego MOC called “Filming a Giant Monster Movie” is created by Luis Peña. He imagines a big city battle between the giants in a film studio. The lighting trusses are a great use of the large Lego pieces. The black boxes work well as a frame, giving the scene the appearance of a set without adding too much detailing. The Lego architecture style buildings are a perfect use here, but the best detail might be all of the mini cars and vehicles. There is even a tiny fire engine doing its best at damage control. Maybe this time Kong will let Godzilla win?

Thomas The Train Is Haunting Your Nightmares - Lego MOC

“Thomas was never the same…” is a Lego MOC built by Leonid An. It is a horrific combination of Thomas the Tank Engine and a spider. A serene smile and eight legs ending in pointy red claws. This type of build is really interesting, as it is combining Duplo, Lego System, and Technic pieces. Most of the connections are made in the middle part of the train/thorax. A complicated setup of legs all meet up in this spot to support Thomas the Train. The two black printed circles on the cab of the train almost look like false eyes. A great detail. Something that may be haunting my nightmares.

Leave The Lights On When Hercules Is Around

Lego Monsters can be surprisingly horrifying. This Lego “Hercules” is a monstrous creation built by Buffoon. They used the scarab insect as inspiration. Which shows in the exoskeleton style design. A lot of these terrifying beasts use a lot of the Lego Bionicle pieces. I can honestly say that this build uses some pieces that are not entirely familiar. The skull head plates work well for the knee caps, but the other bright translucent blue pieces are really interesting. The plastic wings were used in a recent Ant Man release. Then there are a lot of horns, hooks, and hoses that connect everything together. A time tested way to make almost anything scary. The use of the transparent green/yellow is a great contrast to the blue and black. Maybe someone just needs to give it chance. Maybe Hercules just need a friend. Just make sure to leave the lights on.

Mmm Cookie… Look Out For The Lego Cookie Monster

The Cookie Monster is known for his unending appetite for cookies. It got him is a bit of trouble in the last few years, and the Monster had to start a new diet. One of moderation and healthy eating. But, he still enjoys a good cookie or two. This Lego Cookie Monster is the work of kosbrick. Built as part of a challenge/contest called H2H MOC Duel. The goal was to build a character inside a 16x16x16 stud area. This build is instantly recognizable. The body of the Monster uses studs to mimic the furry texture of the Muppet. With two googly eyes, and wide jaws. Another great detail is the base. Which just happens to look like cookie dough. The real Cookie Monster would approve of this Lego MOC.

It’s A Lego Beholder! Grab Your Sword, d20, And Fight.

This Lego MOC is the creation of Ben Cossy, and titled “Fighting the Beholder.” It looks like these five friends have an uninvited guest on their quest. The Beholder is one of the more famous baddies from the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual. A giant floating eyeball with tentacles caped with even more eyeballs (eleven eyes total!). Adventurers need too beware the petrifying eyebeams, sharp teeth, and over sized jaw. Not only that, but they are telepathic and psychokinetic so make sure your brain and intellect are up to the challenge.

This quest through the Underdark is an excellently built scene. The D&D theme captures the spirit and danger of the game. Check out the slightly uneven Lego tile flooring, and the cavernous walls. This is another example of great lighting, making the Lego look as best as it can. The special effects added in later are also well done, and help to animate the magic effects. Lego does similar effects for their marketing too. Now lets just hope this Lego Beholder is the last boss…

This Lego Xenomorph Is On The Prowl

The Alien Xenomorph is an iconic figure in science fiction. Instantly recognizable, and yet it can blend in and hide almost anywhere on a spaceship. Their standard variants of Egg, Chestburster, Facehugger, and Queen are all terrifying. There is also an interesting feature to them. The Xenomorph can be born with some of the aspects of their hosts. The Dragon Alien (dog), Newborn (human clone), Predalien (Predator), Deacon (Engineer), and the Neomorph (spores). This Lego MOC is the creation of _Zenn, and is called the Prowl Xenomorph. It was created for the Space Jame 2018 as an Extraterrestrial Entry. It captures all the details expected of a Lego Xenomorph. Check out the black Lego hands used for the tail, and the Lego arms hidden inside the chest.

Tan’thu The Ancient Entity – A Horrific Lego MOC

Lovecraftian Horrors are something you do not see so much in Lego. There has been a rise in their interest and Lego has even tried creating their own (Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum – 76060). Here is Micah Beideman’s horrific Lego monster, titled Tan’thu: The Ancient Entity. This MOC does a great job of creating the bulging and bulbous body. The eyes and tentacles display a lot of “inside-out” Lego tires. A somewhat popular technique in MOCs these days. The gaping maw is technically impressive. The repetition of elements works extremely well. And, by including a ship (at the center of the display) acting as a reference the humongous size of this Entity is presented.

If you were wondering exactly what was going on behind the scenes to create this beast. Check out the assembly of some of the eyes below. There are over 70 eyes that needed to be built.
