Lego Minifigures Series 14 is still on shelves, the Halloween theme is a tough(er) sell after October. The good news is that Series 15 (71011) is on its way. With a January 2016 release date the first official images have started to appear online. This time they are going with an eye-popping orange color scheme. Lego is also sticking to the (slightly expensive) $3.99 price point.
This time the sixteen Minifigs include: a golden Winged Warrior, an Animal Control Officer & Skunk, a Robot, a Janitor, a Jewel Thief, a Farmer & Pig, an Astronaut, a Black Knight, a Faun/Satyr, a Happy (Left) Shark, a Queen, a Wrestler, a Dancer, a Native American Mother, a Kendoka, and wounded Clumsy Man.
“Oh no, it seems like Mr. Craig’s Alarm Unit malfunctioned! He better hurry his way to work or a point might be added to his L4TE card!”
People do crazy things when they are late for work. Lego people are no different. Check out this Lego MOC by P Squiddy titled Late for the job! It is a perfect example of taking a solid MOC and creating a story around it. This isn’t just a flying car in the near/distant future, but a story being told about that future. The whole thing is achieved with minimal details, a few reactionary Minifigures is all it takes.
It has finally happened, the new Lego Ideas #010 set The Big Bang Theory (21302) has been released. If you made it to San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) this year, you were able to get your hands on the new set a few weeks early. As for the rest of the world, we will need to wait until August 1st. The whole thing is made up of 479 pieces and will be priced at $€59.99. This is not a cheap set, and the price per piece is high.
Brickset has posted one of the first reviews of this set (here). The review is full of high resolution photos, and walks you through the basic build process. It is also sprinkled with comments from Alice, who just happens to be a fan of The Big Bang Theory. Make sure to read the whole review!
“I think it’s a great set for TBBT fans that are not already LEGO fans because even I, who hasn’t played with LEGO for 10 years, wanted to build it just so I could recreate the set.…”
Lego Batman enjoys a good Saturday morning mowing the grass with his Bat MOWbile. Afterwards, he enjoys cruising down the highway to the local hardware store to pick up some weed killer. For his Poison Ivy problem.
This is a super simple Lego MOC that ended up being awesome. Check out the blade guard area. The Lego Bat MOWbile is the creation of lego_panda, and you can find more about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/3cnu3r/bat_mowbile/
Lego is once again offering a whole lot of exclusives at this years San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). There are at least 6 exclusives this time around. Last year you needed to stand in super long lines in order to purchase these, and most people who waited found out they were sold out. This year they are trying something a little bit different. Lego has set up a drawing/raffle system that winners will get to make their purchase at their leisure. Hopefully this system is an improvement. As usual, these are exclusive Lego sets so they will not be sold anywhere else. These have already started popping up on eBay at extremely high prices (here).
This year there will 3 sets, 2 minifigures, and 1 Bionicle exclusive. The 3 sets include DC Comics Super Heroes Action Comics #1 Superman, Marvel Super Heroes Throne of Ultron, and Lego Star Wars Dagobah Mini-build.
There are also 2 exclusive Minifigures this year. A Marvel Super Heroes All New Captain America (Sam Wilson), and DC Comics Super Heroes Arsenal.
Finally, there will be a transparent green Bionicle Mask exclusive too.
Lego has also set up a big giveaway. There will be a total of 46 exclusives given away over the weekend (July 9th 2015 — July 12th). In order to enter into the contest, you will need use Twitter to retweet a specific tweet each day. Rules and stuff can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/LEGO?sk=app_1107464609280941
The epic Lego Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu has just been announced. It is a massive 2,028 piece set, making this the ultimate Ninjago set. Not only that but it includes 12 Minifigures. These will include Lloyd, Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, Nya, Wu, Misako, Dareth, Postman, Jesper, and Claire. An easy way to get a full collection of the Ninjas in their rare black outfits. The main Airjitzu Temple is flanked by a Blacksmiths workshop and a Smuggler’s Market. All connected with a charming bridge. This set is very reminiscent of the super popular Medieval Market Village from a few years ago. There is even a fully working Shadow Theater in the Temples basement. With moving parts, and light up features. Another great thing about the Airjitzu Temple is that Lego has kept the craziness of the Ninjago theme to a minimum. Making this a great set for collectors.
This announcement is perfect timing for the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), where it will be displayed for all to see. The official release date of the Lego Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu will be September 2015, and if you are a VIP Member you can pick it up a few weeks early on August 18th.
“Join the Ninja at the beautiful Temple of Airjitzu! Enjoy the ultimate LEGO® NINJAGO™ building experience as you construct the majestic Temple of Airjitzu and surrounding village! The highly detailed Temple building has many delightful architectural features including Oriental–style decorated windows and sliding doors. The intricate wooden-frame-style walls of the nearby Blacksmiths and beautiful curved roofs of the Smugglers Market will also test your LEGO building skills. And with every Ninja included in one set for the first time, plus loads of other key characters, you can role-play all your favorite NINJAGO adventures. Take tea in the reception area of the Temple, practice your Ninja moves in the training room or join Wu in his study to read or paint. There a whole lot of details hidden away in this set, so make sure to watch the Designer Video below.
One of the most aggravating things about the Lego Minifigures is their limited articulation. They seem to have a problem reaching their face, or anywhere in front of their bodies. There a a few complicated solutions for this that involve rubber bands, and/or clips. These solutions stick to official Lego parts, but can be very fragile.
Crazy Bricks has a solution called Crazy Arms. And, the good news is they just released a Kickstarter for their solution (here). They have found a way to attach their own arms with using a removable and replaceable system that is completely compatible with Lego Minifigures. To start off with they are offering two different arms. One that is posed in front of the torso, and another that is stretched out to the side. These are easily the two most appealing poses.
The Lego Friends: Lovely Hotel is extremely charming and popular. This Lego MOC is amazingly difficult to find, but a few more photos of this modular hotel have surfaced. The Lovely Hotel made its first appearance at the Fujiyama Lego Camp ’12. This pink and purple Cafe Corner mod was displayed between the other town and train creations. This is a total conversion of the famous Cafe Corner (10182), replacing everything with Friends inspired details. This creation would fit in perfectly in any Heartlake City display, and would be at home in a Modular Building layout.
When entering the Hotels front entrance an Ice Cream parlor can be found on the first floor. Here the Lego Friends can chill out and watch the coming and goings of the crowded streets outside. The entrance into the building can be found on the right side of the building. The first two rooms occupy the second floor, accessible from the narrow staircase. Each room features a stylish bed, and vanity. On the top floor is the penthouse suite. This room is jam packed with a full bathroom, bed, vanity, telephone, chandelier, and even custom curtains.

There is going to be a new Lego Minecraft wave of sets released. The summer 2015 sets will arrive in August (although you will probably see them pop up a week or two early). It looks like there will be 2 smallish sets, and 2 large sets. It is interesting that there are no small impulse buy sets. The Lego Minecraft line is not the most affordable, and this release continues that trend. Two of these new sets will see the first Minifigures of Alex. The female counterpart to Steve. Maybe someday she will be able to sell a set all my herself. The new Snow Golem looks extremely goofy, and it’s good to see the famous Minecraft Wolf represented. The big mystery (at least for me) is the 154 graffitied all over the Nether set. If you know what it means, let me know in the comments.
The Dungeon (21119) is the smallest set and comes with Steve and 2 Zombies.
The Snow Hideout (21120) is a medium sized modular set with Steve, a Creeper and the all new Snow Golem.
The Desert Outpost (21121) is a large modular set, with Alex, Steve, a Wolf, and 2 Skeletons.
Finally, the big set this summer is The Nether Fortress. Featuring Alex, Steve, a Zombie Pigman, a Ghast, and Blaze.
Be on the lookout in August for these new Lego Minecraft sets.
