Lego Star Wars: Ewok Village (10236)

Lego Star Wars: Ewok Village 10236 box

This week Twitter was lighting up with messages and rumors about an upcoming Star Wars: Ewok Village set. It didn’t take long for Lego to confirm these rumors. With 1,990 pieces and a price tag of $249.99 this is a massive Ewok Village. The whole set comes with 16 minifigures. 7 of which are exclusive designs and only available in this village. The new set will be available for purchase from Lego Shop@Home in September.

The Ewok Village is built up around 4 trees and suspended in the canopy. There is so much brown and green that anyone making landscapes should be interested. Most Lego Star Wars sets are really cool starships and speeders, and it is rare to get a diorama or landscape based build. The set has been designed to replicate all of your favorite scenes from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. From the capture of Luke, Han, Chewbacca and Leia to the false worship of C3PO. Lego has even included details to help replicate the celebration after the Death Star is destroyed, for instance a set of drums made of recycled Stormtrooper helmets.

Hopefully more of these massive set pieces are coming in the future.

Ryloth Refinery Battle

I Scream Clone’s Ryloth Refinery Battle

Star Wars: Clone Wars is an interesting series, that doesn’t inspire as many MOC builds as the other Star Wars themes. This scene jumps out at you for its excellent use of color. The gooey green looking toxic water, and the tall dangerous looking red tanks. It all has a wonderfully industrious feel to it.

“The planet of Ryloth is the scene for a desperate battle between Shaak Ti, Eeth Koth and Commander Gree’s clones against the might of the Trade Federation. The refinery must be held lest the planets resources fall into the Separatists hands.”

Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser (75025) Announced

GRogall’s Photos: Star Wars Jedi Defender Class Cruiser The Old Republic

The newest Lego Star Wars set has been announced, and it is the Jedi Defender-class Cruiser (75025) from Bioware’s Star Wars the Old Republic. Every time I see a new set released from Lego based on The Old Republic it makes me smile. This is a set based on a video game, from the extended universe, ultimately based on the original films.

The Jedi Defender-class Cruiser comes with 4 minifigs, 3 of which are all new. 2 of the 4 happen to be Jedi’s, so thats great, and of course the obligatory Sith to fight with. The new spaceship comes with 937 pieces, and is rumored to be priced around $100. If so, that would make this a pretty good deal for a Star Wars set. The set should be out soonish, so if you cannot wait, just log in to The Old Republic and admire the Cruiser in all its digital glory.

Thanks to GRogall of Eurobricks for breaking the news on this new set, for more photos go here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77256&st=2125#entry1588701

Mos Eisley Cantina

ArSparfel’s Mos Eisley Cantina

One of the most iconic scenes from Star Wars is the hustle and bustle of the Mos Eisley Cantina. Lego has never done a good set based on the Cantina, which has caused a lot of people to take it on themselves.

This Mos Eisley Cantina is the creation of Flickr user Ar Sparfel. It has everything a good Cantina would need. The great central bar where Ponda Baba losses his arm, the band Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes rocking out, and even the booth where Han shot Greedo first. So much great stuff in a relatively small build. It even looks like a roof may have been built, which would be great to see in the future.

Lego Super Star Destroyer MOC, Release the KR-KN!

OchreJelly’s Super Star Destroyer: Release The KRKN

“After the death of the Emperor Palpatine and Lord Vader, the Empire made a last ditch attempt to thwart their enemies by rushing to complete their fleet of Venator class super star destroyers. However, by the time these vessels could be deployed, the Rebel Alliance had already developed its own super weapon, designation KR-KN.”

Iain Heath, also known as Ochre Jelly on Flickr, created Release the KR-KN!  His original goal was to liven up the Super Star Destroyer from is grayness. Make sure to read the whole store here. Lets make this happen in Star Wars VII.

UCS X-Wing Starfighter Reviewed

Brickset’s Huw Review UCS X-Wing Starfighter Front

An early review of the upcoming Red Five X-Wing Starfighter (No. 10240) has a lot of nice things to say. This UCS X-Wing is the most detailed and well built version yet. A huge leap forward from the original UCS X-Wing (7191). Everything that was wrong with the original has been fixed, especially the delicate wings. The only downside is the slightly small R2D2.

This set is destined to become one of those fabled Lego sets. Right up there with the original, cafe corner, and green grocer, in terms of the resale market. A set like this will always be in demand.

R2-D2 + Black + Gold = R2-Pi

Monsterbrick’s R2-Pi

R2-Pi is an awesome MOC based on the popular Lego Star Wars R2-D2 (10225). It really shows what you can do by color swapping and making slight modifications to an official Lego set. The end result is almost steampunk. If I flew an X-Wing , R2-Pi would be by co-pilot.

Monsterbrick, of Flickr, created R2–Pi.

Star Wars – Tour De Force

Oky’s Star Wars Tour De Force

R2D2’s secret passion is to ride in the Tour De Force. Where once a year the universes most elite bicyclists compete in a 23 day tour of Endor. Watch out R2D2, I hear that Anakin doesn’t play fair.

Oky from Flickr and Eurobricks created this awesome Star Wars Tour De Force concept.
