Digging For Iron In The DSN Mine

Digging For Iron In The DSN Mine - Lego MOC

The DSN is digging for Iron ore in this Lego Mine created by General Hughes. The Iron Mine is also known as the Jean Douglas Memorial Base inside the DSN. This build is a part of the Decisive Action 4, a collection of Lego MOCs that are creating a fictional world. The whole scene fits in a 20×20 stud base, but expands way up, 3 feet up! In the lower most level is the Ore Transport system responsible for transporting the minerals from tunnel to tunnel. The green LED lighting looks really great here, and helps to highlight the stone/cave design. On the second level is the main mining operation. The green lights being used again to highlight the giant drilling system. The third level reveals that the iron ore is being transported via rockets. The red LEDs help to differentiate this man made level from the lower green lit caves. Finally on the surface you can find the rocket being loaded up with ore from below. A perspective built micro city can be found on the hills, and a brick built background reveals other rockets blasting off.

Going On Holiday With Lego

Getting Carried Away on Holiday, Lego MOC

This is “Getting Carried Away on Holiday” a Lego creation built by Ted Andes. A humorous scene with a bunch of out-of-towners getting caught up in some sheep. There is a lot going on here. The European style cottage is a great build on its own. With a gray sloped roof and very clean white walls. The white Lego snake piece used for chimney smoke is a great detail. The farm grounds, and the small street in front look like the proper scale. And the herd of sheep are great. These little animals have exposed studs recreating their wool fur. A great example of using texture in a Lego build. The best detail might just be the brick built background. With giant 3D clouds and an ocean horizon, it helps establish the rest of the scene. The barge in perspective is just genius.

It’s The Final Battle, A Lego MOC

It’s The Final Battle, A Lego MOC

The Hero has finally made it to the end, and is ready for the final battle. An epic fight with a giant, made up of a whole bunch of other Minifigures. “The Final Battle” is the creation of SeanBr1cks, who built this Lego MOC as an entry into the Lego Ideas contest. The giant is the star of this build, and amazingly it keeps the Minifigures shape very well. If you look carefully you can even see it has two eyes. It is also rare to see a brick built background. Here it is a bunch of plates turned up on their side. It works well, and is better than a plain white or grey background. Hopefully our little hero brought an extra life or two, or at least a health potion… he’s going to need it.

“Brick Patrol I” by Peter Fendrik, Lego Star Wars 3D Art

PeterFendrik's Brick Patrol 3D Lego Star Wars by Peter Fendrik

There are a couple of (internet) famous art pieces done involving Lego. One of those is “Brick Patrol I” by Peter Fendrik. This 3D Lego Star Wars render is almost perfect. The composition works well, the depth of field is great, and the color are vibrant. This is how everyone imagines their Lego bricks while building. What really makes this are the two Lego built planets in the background. These Lego Stormtroopers make a perfect desktop background.
