Lego Valor Hover Bike Inspired by Radio Kootwijk

Silvain's Lego Valor Hover Bike Inspired By Radio Kootwijk

Silvain, from Flickr, has created this futuristic hover bike out of Lego. There is a whole lot of detail and Lego pieces crammed into this little bike. The hover bike has been biult around an unofficial Lego piece, the BrickForge Tan Scooter. The Scooter does an admiral job blending in and looking like the official Lego pieces. There are also a few modified Lego pieces to assist with connections. And, a rare Lego Motorcycle Windshield from the 1980’s. This hover bike is fantastic.

Just remember to wear your helmets while flying the skies of New New York.

A Lego Breaking Bad Superlab Playset from Citizen Brick

CitizenBrick's Lego Breaking Bad Superlab Playset

Breaking Bad is wrapping up its final season and what better way to celebrate then with a Lego Breaking Bad Superlab Playset, designed and sold through Citizen Brick. Walter White is a high school chemistry teacher, who after discovering that he has lung cancer, decides to get into the local meth scene. By utilizing his scientific knowledge, Walter is able to quickly disrupt and ultimately conquer the meth trade. It is easy to say that Lego would never create an official theme for Breaking Bad. The details of this unofficial Lego Breaking Bad playset are amazingly accurate. The whole lab comes together in a modular design, with re-arrangeable walls, it is easy to display as one giant Superlab or three separate labs.

Lego Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn Custom Minifigures

Baldur’s Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal) is one of those legendary video games. Developed originally by BioWare and published by Black Isle Studios back in 2000. Recently there has been a resurgence of popularity with the release of the Enhanced Edition and various Kickstarter projects. Baldur’s Gate is one of the most successful Dungeons & Dragons PC games ever. Set in the Forgotten Realms campaign, a high fantasy world made famous by the author R. A. Salvatore. BG2 is an RPG full of tiny details, hidden secrets, and memorable characters.

SaberScorpion's Baldur’s Gate 2 Minifigure Heroes

Justin Stebbins, of Saber-Scorpion, has created a whole collection of custom minifigures. Showcasing most of the heroes and villains in Baldur’s Gate 2. Pictured above are minifigs for Jan Jansen, Keldorn Firecam, Aerie, Jaheira, Imoen, the Bhaalspawn, Minsc, Viconia De’Vir, Edwin Odessieron, Yoshimo, and Korgan Bloodaxe.

Most of these custom minifigures are accomplished with mini decals, stickers, and paint. This custom minifigure for Minsc and Boo ( a miniature giant space hamster) is a perfect example of what can be accomplished with such techniques.

“Go for the eyes Boo, GO FOR THE EYES!! RrraaaAAGHGHH!!!” — Minsc

Even the extremely popular drow (dark elf) Drizzt Do’Urden gets a custom minifig. With some amazing scimitars (from BrickWarriors, a custom Lego accessory store).

SaberScorpion's Baldur’s Gate 2 Drizzt Do'Urden Minifigure

With the release of Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition, came four new characters. Custom minifigures for Baeloth the Entertainer, Neera the Wild Mage, Dorn Il-Khan, and Rasaad yn Bashir the monk. Hopefully some day we will see these characters make it into Baldur’s Gate 2.

SaberScorpion's Baldurs Gate Enhanced Minifigure Characters

You can’t just make 15 minifigs without creating villains for them to play with. A custom Lego Sarevok, Amelyssan the Blackhearted, Jon Irenicus, and Bodhi are ready to terrorize the town of Athkatla and the surrounding lands of Amn.

Justin Stebbins has worked hard on these figures, some of them going through many different revisions. See if you can spot the changes between Jon Irenicus, Bodhi, and Amelyssan the Blackhearted.

Dungeons & Dragons based custom minifigures are becoming more and more common. Lego has been releasing new weapons, accessories, and hair pieces in the recent Lord of the Rings and Hobbit theme that transfer perfectly to other fantasy based themes. Hopefully we will be seeing many more of these type of projects.

Lego Justice League (JLA)

Bryant's Lego Justice League

The Justice League of America (JLA) is the ultimate superhero team. DC Comics first put the Justice League together in 1960. Originally featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter. Since then the superhero team has had a sort of revolving door for membership. Here, Flickr user Bryant, has imagined a Lego version of the team featuring the core members, plus Hawkman, Green Arrow, the Atom, and the Black Canary. Someday Lego may get around to creating official Lego minifigures for all the major DC Comics superheroes, until that time custom minifigs will have to fill in the missing heroes.

Bryant's Lego Justice League: Hawkman & Atom

Here are two of the custom Justice League Lego minifigures. Hawkman is a combination of decals and painting, while the Atom is a custom painted Lego trophy. That little Lego trophy makes a perfect Lego Atom.

Bryant's Lego Justice League Martian Manhunter & Green Lantern

Here is the custom Lego Martian Manhunter and the Green Lantern. Decals were used again to achieve the torso prints.

Bryant's Lego Justice League: Aquaman & Flash

The final two custom JLA members are Aquaman and the Flash. Once again showing off custom decals for the torsos. The old style Lego space helmet works great here too.

Lego Legion of Doom

Bryant's Lego Justice League Villains

But, we cannot forget the supervillains, even super friends have super enemies. Bryant has created a super lineup (based on Justice League Doom, Legion of Doom, and Super Friends) featuring Amazo, Captain Cold, Darkseid, Lex Luthor, Joker, Bizarro, Solomun Grundy and Black Adam. The big stand outs here are Darkseid, and Solomun Grundy. Adding a plate between the legs and torso works well but leaves me wondering how it was accomplished.

Iron Man 2: Custom Lego Whiplash

Surprisingly it is tough finding custom builds based on Iron Man 2. The recent Iron Man 3 and the original Iron Man get all the attention. Although some amazing work has come out of Iron Man 2. For instance, this custom Whiplash minifig. What really sets this minifigure apart is the custom lighting. Here “EL Wire” (Electroluminescent Wire) has been integrated into the figure, creating an amazing effect for the whips, Arc Reactor and backpack. Anton Vanko certainly looks ready to take on Lego Iron Man.

Indiana Jones Warehouse 51

BMW_Indy’s Indiana Jones: Warehouse

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’s Warehouse 51 scene is the focus of this MOC, created by Brian Williams (aka: BMW_Indy). Here, Indiana Jones is being chased by Irina Spalko and her soviet soldiers through Warehouse 51. An action packed scene that would set the tone for the entire film. Lego Indy had a very short run as an official theme from Lego, so it is always nice to see these minifigures pop up in MOCs.

This box diorama style is incredibly well made. This Indiana Jones Warehouse 51 is surprisingly tiny, at 48 x 32 studs this is only 50% larger then the size of a common base plate. The illusion of great space is created with some well placed mirrors. With great custom LED lighting, and over 60 custom stickers for the crates, the whole thing comes together in an incredibly lifelike diorama.

Brian Williams (aka: BMW_Indy) is responsible for this great Lego Indiana Jones Warehouse 51 build. Check it out on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brian_williams/8991760415/

Lego Stark Industries Armory / Iron Man Hall of Armor

becauseBATMAN's Stark Industries Armory, Iron Man Hall of Armor

The Iron Man Hall of Armor has proven to be a very popular Lego MOC build, even Lego has offered an official version of their own. From the small to the big, each MOC has its own charm. This version of the Hall of Armor is amazingly complete. Coming in at 5 stories, 4 of which store Iron Man suits, this build has to be one of the most ambitious. The first floor features Tony Starks lab, and the top floors contain the workshop, and even storage for a huge Hulkbuster Suit.

becauseBATMAN's Stark Industries Armory, Iron Man Hall of Armor LabbecauseBATMAN's Stark Industries Armory, Iron Man Hall of Armor Hulkbuster

What makes this build impressive is the massive amount of custom Iron Man minifigures. With 31 unique suits of armor, Tony Stark must feel like a kid in a candy store. Custom Iron Man minifigures are practically a whole separate genre of custom minifigs at this point. Some of the best work is coming out of this theme.

Some of the custom minifigures featured in the Stark Industries Armory are: Stealth Artillery Suit, Silver Centurion Mk. 2, Deep Space Suit, Enhanced Reactor suit, Prototype Stealth suit,  Hot Rod Red, Deep Sea Hydro suit, Long Distance suit, Silver Centurion retro-inspired suit, Hyper Velocity suit, War Machine 2.0 prototype suit, Prometheum-armor inspired suit, War Machine Heavy Duty, Godkiller armor, Bleeding Edge armor,  “Bones,” War Machine, Mk. 42 prototype, Mk. 42, Iron Patriot, Radiation-zone suit, Super Stealth suit, “Shotgun”, “Gemini”, and “Heartbreaker.”

Old Lego Truck

Carl Merriam's Old Lego Truck

This old style Lego truck makes you wish that Lego would release some historical sets. Treat it like the current architectural sets, but with a more historical/museum quality theme. This Lego Old Truck is designed by Carl Merriam, and can be viewed on Flickr. Using a window piece worked out perfectly for the old style radiator, and including such details as wooden spoked tires, and a wooden truck bed help to sell the retroness of this vehicle.

The wood tiles used to create the truck bed, were specifically chosen to showcase the custom printing from Print-A-Brick. They help to create a retro look to the pickup that would be harder to achieve without. The logo featured on the door is also a custom brick from Carl Merriam.

Lego Ghostbusters Cuusoo Project

Ghostbusters Cuusoo Project: Group

When somethings strange in your Lego drawer, “Who you gonna call? — Ghostbusters!”

BrentWaller has proposed a whole Ghostbusters theme over at Lego Cuusoo in celebration of the films 30th anniversary. Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore would all appear in Minifigure form, along with the ever popular Slimer. No one would expect these guys to capture these ghosts unprepared, so they come with a full set of Proton Packs, PKG Meters, and Ghost Traps.

Not only would you get the whole Ghostbusters team, but their headquarters too. The office is super detailed and surprisingly accurate. Because, of the sheer size and scope of such a build, this would probably be cut from the final set if Lego approves one.

Ghostbusters Cuusoo Project: Building

The last piece of the proposal is the Ecto-1, which is one of the most iconic vehicles in film history. Here it has been recreated in full Lego and even features some amazing lighting. The Ectomobile is based off of the 1959 Cadillac Ambulance and is instantly recognizable.

Ghostbusters Cuusoo Project: Ecto-1

Lego has been open to licensed Cuusoo projects in the past. Especially Back to the Future, which has been approved and is expected to be sold sometime before the end of the year. This is good news for a future Ghostbusters theme. Check it out on the official Cuusoo page: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/36088

The Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter – Lego CUUSOO Project

Legend of Zelda, Iron Knuckle Encounter

WesTalbott has proposed a Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter project over at the Lego CUUSOO page. This is not the first time the Legend of Zelda has made an appearance on the CUUSOO page, but it is by far the strongest proposal. Lego has said in the past that a previous Legend of Zelda theme would be too expensive to produce due to the need for custom molds. WesTalbott took that news and created the Iron Knuckle Encounter, which would only require 1-3 custom molds. The most important new mold that would be needed is for Links hat. A new sword and shield would be nice too, but those were not designed to be a requirement.

Legend of Zelda, Iron Knuckle Encounter, Figures

Having Link fight a brick built bad guy is really fun, and certainly appealing to the AFOL market. And, just look at all those wonderful jars, they are just begging to be broken! The whole set would feature said pots, lots of skulls, rupees, and even a boss key. Even the double sided play set provides a lot of play features, and looks great.

In the last few months a lot of the Lego CUUSOO project proposals have become much more realized, probably a side effect of Kickstarter. The Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter features a lot of artwork to go with the proposal, such as a mock up for a Lego box, and a wonderful poster!

Legend of Zelda, Iron Knuckle Encounter, Box Art

Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter Poster

The only problem with a Legend of Zelda theme is acquiring a license. Nintendo has never worked with Lego, and is currently working with K’NEX. Stranger things have happened though. Lets all hope that Link can get the treatment he deserves.
