Winterfell from A Game of Thrones in Lego

Winterfell, A Game of Thrones Lego

In A Game of Thrones, the castle of Winterfell is the capital of the North. In the beginning of the series, the continent of Westeros is ruled by the Iron Throne, and it can be divided up further into 7 smaller kingdoms. The northern kingdom is home of House Stark who live in Winterfell. The castle Winterfell supports Winter Town during the winter years, but during the summer years most of its citizens spread throughout the kingdom.

Winterfell with Bran Stark, A Game of Thrones Lego

This Lego Winterfell is the creation of Sered, who spent a whole lot of time on this MOC. The castle contains a surprising amount of details, including some fully furnished interiors, a Godswood, the Broken Tower, the Great Keep, and even little Bran Stark climbing around the walls. I wonder what he will find inside those closed doors.

Winterfell is a part of a greater diorama based on A Game of Thrones. Besides Winterfell, the locations of the Frey’s Twin Towers, and Castle Black are also showcased. The whole diorama is 288 studs wide, and 576 studs long. The project is the creation of Sered, Marco Cancellieri, Lothard McLotti, and Itaria No Shintaku. Recently the whole project was displayed at ItLug Latina 2013 Lugfest.

Castle Black from A Game of Thrones in Lego

Lego Game Of Thrones, Castle Black

In A Game of Thrones, Castle Black is the headquarters for the the Night’s Watch. A group of men who devote their lives to maintaining the Wall. Which is the primary defense against the Wildlings and the other things that live in the north. The castle is mostly built from ice and rock, and is nothing more than a small keep. One of the most defining features of Castle Black is the man powered elevator to the top of the wall. At one time there was also a huge staircase…

This Lego Castle Black is the creation of Marco Cancellieri (The Chancellor) who included it in a larger A Game of Thrones diorama. The amount of white Lego bricks present here is mind boggling, it must be a lot of work making sure they don’t yellow. The larger diorama also features Winterfell, and the Frey’s Twin Towers. The diorama is 288 studs wide, and 576 studs long. The whole project is currently being expanded. Maybe someday the whole of Westeros will be built…

Friendly Fire with these Lego Friends Cyborgs

LarryLars's Lego Friends Cyborgs Friendly Fire

These Lego Friends inspired cyborgs are the creation of Larry Lars. Who has been refining the robotic body for a few years now. Which has paid off well with these awesome cyborgs. The first one (white, black hair) was created in 2012, while the newest (white, red hair and blue) are from 2013. The compact building style looks extremely delicate, but the end result is worth it. This is a great example of the Lego telephone being put to use. These Lego Friend Cyborgs look like they could fit into a Masamune Shirow manga (Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell).

LarryLars's Lego Friends Cyborgs Say Hello To My Little Friend

Lego made a smart move by allowing the Lego Friends figures to fit into the Lego System. This allows the various body parts to be mix and matched with other Lego pieces. The Lego Minifigure style hair can be used on the Friends figures. This greatly expands the available hair styles for your figures. Here the Lego Friends head has been matched with the anime style Minifig hair from the Exo-Force theme.

High Velocity Ice Cutting Speeder. A Lego Ice Planet Themed MOC.

A Plastic Infinity's High Velocity Ice Cutting Speeder on Ice Planet

One Lego theme that you don’t see very often is the Ice Planet 2002 theme. This was the Lego Space theme from 1993 through 1994. It had a heavy emphasis on blue and white bricks. The theme contained a lot of white haired minifigures and the coolest (pun!) accessory ever made: the transparent orange chainsaw (6117). The High Velocity Ice Cutting Speeder (HiVICS), by A Plastic Infinity, is a cool MOC based on Ice Planet. This is a compact speeder in the SNOT style, with come really inventive use of Lego parts. For instance, the blue baseball cap and the Bionicle (?) pieces. The Lego hoses also lend a sleekness to the speeder that works well.

A Plastic Infinity used one customized Lego piece in this built. If you can spot it, make sure to go over to the Flickr page and let them know!

“I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…” Pokemon Lego Ash and Misty

lisqr's Pokemon Lego Misty

Pokémon is still going strong today with the recent release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the Nintendo 3DS. Even the original Gameboy games are being sought after and collected today by fans. These original games, titled Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, lead to a television show spinoff. The original animated series made its debut in 1998 with a prime after school timeslot. The show took many liberties compared to the Gameboy games. With a whole cast of reappearing characters that were not present in the original games. The two most memorable are Ash, and his friends Misty and Brock. Two of these have been carefully recreated in Lego by lisqr.

Lego Misty is a great SNOT style figure. With her super orange hair and trademarked blue shorts and yellow tanktop her design is spot on. The anime style hair and eyes are especially good. Lego Ash on the other hand is wearing his (oversized) red and white hat. His design allows him to have more articulation then the Misty figure. I can just imagine him hassling a Lego Pikachu.

To get the best impression of these MOCs make sure to play the Pokémon theme song. “I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…”
