Lego Minifigures by 713 Avenue

The Lego Minifigures have sure made an impression. There are well over 150 minifigures spread across 10 releases (and 1 special Olympics release). From several Roman soldiers, to futuristic spacemen and robots, these collectable (or is it collectible?) minifigs have covered almost every topic and theme imaginable. It is hard to imagine just how many of these blind packages figures have been created. There are just so many…

Flickr user 713 Avenue has created many group photos showing off the amazing variety of these collectable minifigures. These would make for some great backgrounds if high resolution photos are ever released. For now 1024 pixels wide versions on Flickr will have to do.

The Lord of the Rings, the Tower of Orthanc (10237) Reviewed @ Eurobricks

Rufus's The Tower Of Orthanc Review 1

The first full review for the new Lego, the Lord of the Rings, the Tower of Orthanc (10237) has been released, and it is over at Eurobricks. Rufus has written up a super cool review, showcasing every tiny detail of this towering tower. Oddly enough Lego has made two conflicting sets in the same release. To put it bluntly the Wizard Battle (79005) is a mini version of the Tower of Orthanc. So, if you cannot afford the full price, the smaller mini set is a good alternative. As Rufus points out in his review, the white wizard Saruman is actually different in both sets, meaning that if you are a completist then you will need both.

Rufus's The Tower Of Orthanc Review 3

The Tower of Orthanc is a full six floors, with 2,359 pieces, and really is one of the tallest Lego models to date. It measures 28″ tall (71cm), which is over 2 feet! The inclusion a fully posable and working brick built Ent is wonderful. And although, the inclusion of an Eagle is also great, it is a shame that it is a molded figure. At least it can be replaced with the Lego Creator Fierce Flyer (31004) which makes a great brick built eagle.

The overall opinion is that this is a great set from Lego, which features an unbelievable amount of black bricks. The price to brick ratio (8.5¢) is also reasonable, which is rare for a licensed set.

First Photos from the upcoming Lego Minifigures Series 11

Lego Minifigures Series 11 Photos: Yeti, Welder, Female Robot, Evil Robot, Scientist

The first photo of the upcoming Lego Minifigures Series 11 has been leaked. Featuring an Evil Mech, Scientist, Yeti, Female Robot, and a Welder. Not pictured here, and not yet confirmed are the figures Jazz Musician, Constable, Holiday Elf, Bavarian Woman, Scarecrow, Mountain Climber, Grandmother, Tike Warrior, Gingerbread Man, Barbarian and Dinner Waitress. The early rumors say that the set will be available sometime around September.

Lego seems to be going strong with the collectible minifigs. No one would have predicted 11 series for this theme. The detail and number of unique parts is what keeps these things going. So far this set is looking pretty good. And, hopefully the distribution will be reasonable. (Stupid Skydiver!)

Series 10 was just recently released, so make sure to pick up a couple of those before this one hits stores. Maybe you will even find a Mr. Gold?

Lego Bob’s Burgers!

Plasmachild's Lego Bobs Burgers Sign

Bob’s Burgers is one of the best animated programs on TV right now. Everyone seems to have a favorite character, from the chef and father Bob Belcher, to the youngest daughter Louise Belcher. This Lego MOC features the restaurant and home of the Belchers. The green and yellow colors would fit right into a Modular Building scene. Everything is pretty accurate, just shrunk down to Lego minifig scale. I can imagine Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, Louise, Jimmy Pesto, Mort & Teddy all having their many adventures here.

Plasmachild, of Flickr, built this MOC. Make sure to check out all the details: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50349134@N05/6239498662/

Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser (75025) Announced

GRogall’s Photos: Star Wars Jedi Defender Class Cruiser The Old Republic

The newest Lego Star Wars set has been announced, and it is the Jedi Defender-class Cruiser (75025) from Bioware’s Star Wars the Old Republic. Every time I see a new set released from Lego based on The Old Republic it makes me smile. This is a set based on a video game, from the extended universe, ultimately based on the original films.

The Jedi Defender-class Cruiser comes with 4 minifigs, 3 of which are all new. 2 of the 4 happen to be Jedi’s, so thats great, and of course the obligatory Sith to fight with. The new spaceship comes with 937 pieces, and is rumored to be priced around $100. If so, that would make this a pretty good deal for a Star Wars set. The set should be out soonish, so if you cannot wait, just log in to The Old Republic and admire the Cruiser in all its digital glory.

Thanks to GRogall of Eurobricks for breaking the news on this new set, for more photos go here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77256&st=2125#entry1588701

Lego Tower Of Orthanc

Lego Tower Of Orthanc, from Brickset

Lego Lord of the Rings gets a new mega set this summer with the Tower of Orthanc (No. 10237). Poor old Saruman will have to live his downfall over and over again. Isengard has never looked better at 2,359 pieces. This will certainly take the majority of a day to build, which is not a problem. The problem is that at 6 floors tall, totaling over 2 feet tall (28in or 73cm), most people will not have room to display this set without having to specifically make room for it. Make sure to check out the the designers video below!

Lego Tower Of Orthanc Details

The Tower of Orthanc will come with minifigs for Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf, a random Uruk-hai, and an Orc Pitmaster. Not only that but you will get a rare Great Eagle, and a brick build Ent. You can now reenact all of your favorite scenes, such as the great wizard battle and defeat of Gandalf. One of the rooms of this great tower contains the Palantír of Orthanc (with a light brick!), where Saruman communicates directly with Sauron. You can even reenact Gandalf’s call for help, with a Great Eagle rescuing him just in time. Or, the fall and destruction of the tower as the Ent join battle with the evil Orcs. This set is full of fun details. Hopefully soon, we will get a Treebeard figure that we can add to the battle.

Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle Reviewed

Masked Builder’s Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle Reviewed

Iron Man 3 is almost here, and so are new Lego sets. The set that grabbed my attention right away was the Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle (76006). You get Iron Man and Warmachine, this alone makes this set the must buy of the series.

Masked Builder over at Eurobricks posted a great review. If you are avoiding light spoilers, beware. Some of the details of this set may spoil basic plot.

Mr. Gold Is Worth Gold

Series 10 Mr. Gold Minifig

Mr. Gold has been found, and on eBay happens to be as costly as gold.

The current Series 10 of the Lego Collectable Minifigures features a new super rare figure. For the first time Lego has packaged 5000 limited gold (plastic) minifigs randomly worldwide. When the series was first spotted about a month ago no one had a clue exactly how these figures would work.

And, work they do. The first Mr. Gold figures are up for sale from $500 to $1300. Wow.

ToysNBricks has a great write up about said figure, and even does some math about weather or not the investment is worth it.

Lego Collectable Minifigures – Series 10 Reviewed @ Eurobricks

Minifigures Series10 Reviewed by WhiteFang at Eurobricks

Who knew that we would already be up to Series 10 of the Lego Collectable Minifigures.

WhiteFang’s review of the newest set on Eurobricks is the definitive review.

It seems like I find myself blindly buying 2-3 of these every release, and while sometimes my luck is lacking, overall each new figure has found a home. Some of these like the Librarian and Roman Commander are very well done. And, who doesn’t image creating a huge Assassin’s Creed style battle with the Revolutionary Soldier.
