From thedailymash, Lego ‘promoting unrealistic body image’:
“LEGO has been accused of making children covet unattainable squat, yellow bodies with c-shaped hooks for hands.
The Danish toy company was branded ‘dangerous’ and ‘irresponsible’ by a government watchdog, following complaints about the unrealistic physical standards its figures display.
Mother-of-two Donna Sheridan said: “My youngest son turned to me yesterday and said, ‘Mummy, I hope I grow up to look like a Lego man…”

Feeling like the wait is way too long for another Despicable Me? Thats okay, because the Lego community has been creating a whole lot of Lego Minions. There are Minions Parties, Mini Minions, Minion Maids, Batman Minions, and many many more. LegoGenre even has a whole section of these creations. The newest entry into the series is this collection of Minions! created by Yatkuu. My favorite of the bunch are the SuperHero themed Minions. Captain America and Batman Minion are instantly recognizable and hilarious. These little dudes have an interesting story:
“This series of Minions was inspired by my Nerdly-Minion and started as a project for the LEGO Store community window in Raleigh, NC. I meant to put these up on display for the release of the movie “Minions” due in July 15. I think the kids would have liked it.
Unfortunately, for reasons that I can’t really comprehend TLG decided to revisit the rules of the community windows and as a result these little guys will probably never see a LEGO store from up-close. Too bad.”
Yatkuu has been kind enough to post instructions for these guys, which you can find over on BrickFanatics: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/do-you-wanna-build-a-minion/

“Did you know there is also a Thor buster, Magneto buster, even Galactus buster? Why not a Chicken buster?” — Peter C.
There have been a lot of Lego Hulkbusters over the past few years, most of them great. It is about time we get the other Busters. First up a Chickenbuster. It looks like Tony Stark woke up late, and grabbed the wrong helmet. He is ready to turn some villains into omelets. Look out. The Chicken Buster is the creation of Peter C, who is having a good time creating new ways to mock the Hulk.

Hothlake City is a Lego Star Wars and Lego Friends crossover. Created by Tyler Sky and Frances Sky. It just so happens that this is not their only Lego Friends and Star Wars themed MOC; they also created the AT-AT Cleaning Station. The idea is to create something that appeals to both boys and girls, without being boring or dumbed down. The end result is a smashing success, as they have won the “Medium Planetary Structure” award at BrickCon 2014. The AT-AT is based on the official Lego AT-AT (75054) but has received an extensive paint job. These new Lego Friends mash-ups are very popular.
“After the Galactic Civil War, Stephanie & Andrea picked up this Army surplus AT-AT for dirt cheap, then retro-fitted it for use as Heartlake City’s latest Pet Taxi service.” — Tyler Sky

It was only a matter of time before we started to see Lego Friends and Lego Star Wars crossovers. Both of these contrasting themes go together much better then one would think. In fact most of the Lego Friends crossovers seem to go over well. Check out the Lovely Hotel, or the Paradisa Viper. The AT-AT Cleaning Station is the work of Tyler Sky. It is a huge display, and instantly grabs your attention. Everything you would expect is here, Tauntauns, a Snowspeeder, an AT-AT, Emma, Andrea, and even a defense turret. The only thing not present is snow.
“Meanwhile just outside the limits of Hothlake city, a repurposed AT-AT (now used as a pet taxi service) is getting a much needed weekly cleaning.
Keeping this mechanical marvel in top condition is no small feat, requiring the assistance of many helpers including a pair of drones, a couple of Tauntauns, and many friends. A repurposed turret installation helps to get water up to those hard to reach spots!
Emma and Andrea came along to help out after a long day of courier deliveries made with their new Land speeder. Landings are still a bit rough but she’ll get the hang of it soon enough!” — Tyler Sky
This AT-AT Cleaning Station recently made an appearance in a display window at the Vancouver Lego Store (November 2014). If you are quick enough, maybe you can see it too. Tyler Sky works on a lot of Lego Friends themed stuff, so keep an eye out for more featured displays.

Lego Minions are still going strong. There are so many of these things, and each one is different. This little dude was designed by Oliver Kude and features a great open smile and stumpy little legs. I could probably see a hundred more of these things and still enjoy them. Did you know that the Despicable Me Minions have their own language? It is actually a combination of various earthly languages into a kind of recognizable gibberish. For instance “Kanpai” is “cheers,” “Pwede na?” means “can we start,” “Gelato” means “ice cream,” and “Papoy” means “a toy.”

“Interrupting Lord Vader in his meditation chamber, Admiral Piett quickly found himself at the top of the imperial execution list.”
Who knows what Darth Vader gets up too in his meditation chamber. Whatever it is, you do not want to be the officer who interrupts his private time. Cpt. Brick imagines Darth Vader clowning around in his spare time. This Lego Star Wars MOC, titled A Bad Day for Admiral Piett, is a great example of the humor found in Lego.
