The International Hotel, A Cool Lego Modular Building

lgorlando's Lego International Hotel 01

It seems like every major city has an International Hotel. And, it is about time your Lego city got one too. An International Hotel would fit perfectly in the Lego Modular Building theme. The stark white trim, gold accents, and light blue color of this hotel gives this hotel a very regal look. This is the place all the rich Lego Minifigures would stay. There is a lot going on with the facade here. In a lot of ways this Lego International Hotel feels like an official Lego set. The little details, like the white round piece in the windows, the clock, and the grey statues all feel like something Lego would do. Which is a compliment. This is a really cool modular style building.

Lego Scooby Dooby Doo, Where Are You?

Lego Scooby Doo Rumors

If there was one theme I was not expecting to hear rumors that Lego would produce, its Scooby Doo. It seems that Lego has been working on a spooky theme, and now its seems an official Lego Scooby Doo theme is the top contender for this release. This new theme would be hitting shelves around May or June of 2015, and will consist of 4 sets. It seems that the iconic Mystery Van, a Haunted House, and two unknown sets are in the works. With the whole gang represented in Minifigure form. Fred, Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, Daphne, and Velma. Also expect to see a few of the monsters represented. I wonder if they will be regular Minifigures wearing costumes? Because that would be fun.

Hothbricks reported on a Lego Scooby Doo theme first. Their user Miniworld seems to be confirming rumors too: http://www.hothbricks.com/2014/11/rumeurs-2015-grande-roue-nouveau-theme/#comments

Lego Lowrider, Flamingo Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

Alex Jones's Lego Lowrider, Flamingo Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 01

It looks like the Lego Friends have a new ride, or maybe Homer Simpson upgraded the sedan. Either way this Lego Lowrider is awesome. Alex Jones (Orion Pax) created this MOC titled the “Flamingo Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.” It is always interesting to see what people can do with Lego pieces, especially those that have a limited color palette. It features a tri-tone paint job (hot pink, pink and purple), with chrome accents and whitewall tires. The car has hot pink wood paneling and the windshield is even transparent pink.  This Oldsmobile has style.

Hartinih Liauw's Lego Friends Corner

What happens when you combine the Lego Friends Downtown Bakery (41006) with the famous Lego Cafe Corner (10182)? You get a Lego Friends Corner. The ground floor hosts an extremely popular bakery and pastry shop. Up to the second floor is a hip pet hair salon, where all the super cute dogs and cats go to get groomed. Then on to the rooftop is an outdoor area and garden for your pets. Which includes a tiny birdhouse, a dog bath, water fountain, and a peaceful garden. The new Detective’s Office will be released around January of 2015, which is only 2 months away. The Detective’s Office (Detective’s Agency) is a new direction for the Lego Modular Buildings. This new release will add a more seedy or bad section to town. It is a huge change in tone that the Modular theme needed. “Because I’m a wild animal.” A Fantastic Mr. Fox Lego Painting

Hilary Leung's Fantastic Mr. Fox Lego Painting

This Lego Fantastic Mr. Fox mosaic (or is it a relief?) is spot on. Capturing all of the feeling from the film. Wes Anderson has a lot of style, and the 1-point perspective shots that he is famous for are a perfect fit for Lego. This Lego mosaic is titled “Because I’m a wild animal.” and is currently on display at the Wes Anderson themed Art Show (at the Gladstone Hotel) by The Toronto Animation Community. Check it out if you are in the area.
