The upcoming Ghostbusters film is getting its first Lego set. The new Lego Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2 (75828) is ready to go. The set features some awesome new pieces, including more Lego hair. You can never have enough Lego hair. It will be on shelves on July 1st 2016 for $59.99 USD. This puts it at $10 more then the original Lego Ideas set, but you do get 2 additional minifigures. I have a feeling that this set will be right at home in the Firehouse Headquarters.

The set features the Ghostbusters Erin Gilbert, Abby Yates, Jillian Holtzmann, Patty Tolan and Kevin. Plus some sort of red devil.

This Lego Transformers Optimus Prime Is More Than Meets The Eye

Ralph S's Lego Transformers Optimus Prime Truck

Lego and Transformers seems like a pretty good match. The problem is that the recent movies and the cartoons take extreme liberties in the design. Usually there is no way these robots could fit into a tiny car. Since a computer can cheat and hide away a lot of the conflicting elements, the films get away with this. When you are working in Lego these conflicts need to be carefully worked out. Ralph S has created an extremely detailed Lego Optimus Prime. What separates this from all the other Lego Transformers MOCs is that this one can actually transform. The truck from is a good looking Lego MOC, even if you didn’t know what was hiding inside. Then with some careful transforming, Optimus Prime, stands tall. At 45-50cm in height, this makes the models scale at 1/22. Even better Optimus can stand on his own (although don’t sneeze around him, and don’t tell the Decepticons).

When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth – Lego Jurassic Park Visitor Center

LDiEgo's Lego Jurassic Park Visitor Center

LDiEgo has created a new Lego Ideas project for a massive Jurassic Park Visitor Center. Lego is currently creating Jurassic Park World sets, but haven’t released anything from the previous 3 movies. It seems a project like this would be a perfect fit for Lego Ideas, which seems to have a soft spot for popular films. A few project have been proposed, but there has been no word on them from Lego (here).

LDiEgo's Lego Jurassic Park Visitor Center Modular

This modular style Lego Jurassic Park Visitor Center would be 2,623 pieces. Which is way more then any previous Lego Ideas release has contained. The whole complex features the Main Entrance Hall, “Les Gigantes” restaurant, a Kitchen, a Dinning Room, an Emergency Bunker, a Showcase Theater, a Control Room and a Genetics Lab. Also proposed are two dinosaur skeletons, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Sauropod. There would be one Raptor included, named “Clever Girl.” Plus six Minifigures: John Hammond, Tim Murphy, Lex Murphy, Donald Gennaro, Ray Arnold, and Robert Muldoon.

Oh Joy! — It’s A Lego Joy from Inside Out

Miro Dudas Lego Inside Out Joy

Check out this Lego Joy from the Disney/Pixar film Inside Out. This Lego MOC is based on the official Joy Poster, and it is pretty accurate, maybe a little less sparkly then the movie version of Joy. The details that really stand out are the blue hair, and the shoulders. Plus there is a creative letter “O” there too. This Lego poster is created by Miro Dudas, who happened to be be inspired by the recent “Angry” Lego figure. Maybe, we will actually get all of the feelings represented in Lego soon. If you spot any more, let us know!

A Lego Anger From Pixar’s Inside Out

Angus MacLane's Lego Inside Out Anger

In the past few years Lego has been adding new pieces/molds to their collection that really help create more expressive and smooth builds. A good example is this Anger, from Disney/Pixar’s recent film Inside Out. You just wouldn’t be able to build this ten years ago. This Lego figure is spot on, and the creator Angus MacLane, has set a high bar for any more Inside Out Lego MOCs. The SNOT style building is faultless. Check out those awesome teeth, and spot on tie. It’s hard to be Angry around this guy.

“This model took me a while to get right, but it was a lot of fun to build. The arm angle and scale were particularly tricky.
The general reaction to this MOC has been, “Neat! Where are the other emotions?” I’m fairly positive that my green, light yellow, lavender, and medium blue collection is not sufficient to do so. So I’ll let that be a building challenge for the rest of you.”

Lego Minions! Minions! Minions!

Yatkuu's Lego Minions! Party

Feeling like the wait is way too long for another Despicable Me? Thats okay, because the Lego community has been creating a whole lot of Lego Minions. There are Minions Parties, Mini Minions, Minion Maids, Batman Minions, and many many more. LegoGenre even has a whole section of these creations. The newest entry into the series is this collection of Minions! created by Yatkuu. My favorite of the bunch are the SuperHero themed Minions. Captain America and Batman Minion are instantly recognizable and hilarious. These little dudes have an interesting story:

“This series of Minions was inspired by my Nerdly-Minion and started as a project for the LEGO Store community window in Raleigh, NC. I meant to put these up on display for the release of the movie “Minions” due in July 15. I think the kids would have liked it.

Unfortunately, for reasons that I can’t really comprehend TLG decided to revisit the rules of the community windows and as a result these little guys will probably never see a LEGO store from up-close. Too bad.”

Yatkuu has been kind enough to post instructions for these guys, which you can find over on BrickFanatics: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/do-you-wanna-build-a-minion/

Feed me Seymour! A Little Shop of Horrors Lego MOC

Jordan Schwartz Lego The Little Shop Of Horrors

“I’m just a mean green mother from outer space and I’m bad!”

The Little Shop of Horrors is a great cult classic. It’s one of those rare horror musicals, that actually has a whole lot of heart. The films stars, Seymour and Audrey II, have great chemistry.  Jordan Schwartz has recently built their own Lego creation based on The Little Shop of Horrors. This little build features a simple but instantly recognizable Audrey II, which is accompanied by a Lego Minifigure of Seymour. This guy is also a great representation of Rick Moranis, and would be easily at home in many other Lego creations (Ghostbusters). Audrey II is looking very carnivorous, with a row of Lego teeth waiting to sink into some meat. What kind of hijinks will this duo get up to?

The Lego Movie Honest Trailer (with Epic Rap Battles of History – Nice Peter & EpicLLOYD)

Honest Trailers The Lego Movie

They fine people from Screen Junkies have just released an Honest Trailers for The Lego Movie. Full of awesome puns, jokes, and snark. They really got into this one. The video features a full parody of the Academy Award nominated song Everything is Awesome titled Everything’s a Product, sung by Nice Peter and EpicLLOYD from Epic Rap Battles of History. Make sure to check out the full video, and afterwords go buy some Lego.

Phil Lord built an Oscar for The Lego Movie

Phil Lord, The Lego Movie Oscar

The Academy Award (The Oscar) nominations for Best Animated Feature were revealed for 2015, and surprisingly The Lego Movie wasn’t among those honored. This year ended up being an incredibly competitive category for animation. With Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea, and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya pushing out The Lego Movie. This is such an oddity as most years do not even have enough contendors to fill up the nominations. With only 3 or 4 films competing. The Lego Movie did get one nomination for Everything Is Awesome in the Best Original Song category.

This didn’t stop the directors of The Lego Movie from having a little bit of fun. Phil Lord decided to just build his own Oscar, while Chris Miller helped people come to terms with the news.

I am Lego Groot

Almost everybody’s favorite Guardian of the Galaxy is Groot. This character has an interesting past, he started out as a villain all the way back in 1960. He didn’t reform his ways until he met Peter Quill (Starlord). It turns out that Groot is a Monarch (Floral Colossus) from Planet X. With the recent rise in popularity comes a whole lot of Lego MOCs. Not surprisingly most of them are trying to recreate the dancing “baby” Groot scene at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy. Here are just a few of the many Lego Groots out there:
