A Real Lego Minifigure Cosplay At SDCC

Tested Real Lego Minifigure SDCC

“Our latest project with Frank Ippolito lives at the intersection of creepy and amazing. For this year’s Comic-Con, Frank designed, sculpted, and painted a LEGO-inspired mask, made to look like a real-life version of a minifig. We’re calling it the creeppyfig, and it found its way home wandering through Comic-Con’s exhibit hall.”

The team over at Tested, created a real Lego Minifigure. And, it is amazing. They then walked the convention floor at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). The best part is Frank getting comfortable in the official Lego both. After you get past the beady eyes, and clammy skin.

Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) Build And Review

Swiss Ghostbusters's Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters 75827 Review

Swiss Ghostbusters got their hands on the upcoming Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) a few weeks early. The new set will be released in January 2016, at $350. They put together an extremely slick build and review video. This thing is huge.

“We are proud to present to you, just four weeks before the official launch, the official “Lego Ghostbusters Firestation Headquarter Set 75827 .” We want to share this joy with you and have made this short video review for you. In it you will see the building process of the set in a timelapse and a small review of the features of the Ghostbusters headquarters.

The pure building phase would take about 10-12 hours.
We had a lot of fun building this great set and we especially recommend it to any Ghostbusters fan.”

Swiss Ghostbusters is well known in the Lego community for creating the rejected Ghostbusters Headquarters over on Lego Ideas (CUUSOO) in 2014. You can catch up on the details of that over here: http://www.swissgb.ch/my-statement-on-the-release-of-the-lego-ghostbusters-firehouse-headquarters/

An Official Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters (75827) Coming in 2016?

Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters Firehouse

It sounds like an official Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters (75827) will be released in 2016! Over on YouTube, just2good released this scoop (here). The upcoming set will be impressive. The Firehouse will contain well over 4,000 pieces and cost somewhere near $350. This puts it in the same category as the Deathstar or the recent Avengers Helicarrier in terms of scope. The whole thing should open up, and be relatively modular. It will be interesting to see if it can fit in with the ever popular Modular Buildings theme. Good news, even though the release is 2016, the wait won’t be too long. The Headquarters should be released on January 1st, 2016.

The Cake Is A Lie. Lego Dimensions Portal E3 Trailer.

Lego Dimensions Portal Trailer E3

The Cake may be a lie, but this newest trailer is not. During E3, a new Lego Dimensions Portal trailer was released featuring a whole bunch of GLaDOS, Chell, and even a little bit of Wheatley. The gameplay is looking good. With a lot of Portal Gun mechanics being shown off. It looks like other Dimensions characters will be able to play in the Portal levels, including Batman, Homer Simpson, and Gandalf. It is not clear if you can take things like the Portal Gun into the other non-Portal levels. Which, if possible, opens up a whole lot of complicated stuff. Check out the full trailer below, it is pretty entertaining…

Lego Ideas Third 2014 Review (#013) Revealed

Lego Ideas 2014 Review

The latest Lego Ideas Review (Third 2014, #013) has been officially revealed. The next Ideas set will be the Marble Maze. This set will feature a fully working marble labyrinth. The kind with two knobs, marbles, and pitfalls all wrapped up in a wooden box (in this case a Lego box). However the final model will be designed, it will be featuring a good amount of technic building, which Lego Ideas hasn’t used too much.

The other proposed sets that didn’t make the cut in this review included the Avengers Helicarrier, The Goonies Inferno Pirate Ship, The Natural History Museum, The Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith, Jurassic Park Gate, a Piano, and the Flying Dutchman. No reasons for the denial were given. Lego did leave us with a little surprise, saying that they were still considering the F7A Hornet from the video game Star Citizen. Check out the full video below.

The Lego Lounge is a Basement in a House Designed for Lego

Jeffrey Pelletier Lego House Basement

Finding a place for a Lego collection can be a very difficult task. Every year more and more pieces get added, and eventually (for most of us) they end up in a huge unsorted pile. Slowly consuming a spare room, garage, basement, or office space. Most people never get past the point of sorting their collection into a few drawers and storage containers.

Jeffrey Pelletier, an architect, put his knowledge and skills into creating the perfect space for his Lego collection. His whole house has been designed to accommodate Lego. There are well over 250,000 pieces stored in this collection, and most of them are located in what looks like the most friendly basement ever built. With 9 foot ceilings, a full bar, and a whole room dedicated to building, this is the type of space that adults dream about.

Jeffrey Pelletier Lego House Basement Bar

The whole house is located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, and was originally built in 1902. After an extensive remodel in 2013, the 3,300 square feet house is a great example of how to showcase your love for Lego. The living space features extensive built-in shelving systems, modern furniture, and super colorful walls. Even the Lego Modular buildings have their own space.

The Pegasus Automaton. A Lego Kinetic Sculpture.

Amida's Lego Pegasus Automaton 02

An Automaton is a movable mechanical kinetic device, usually imitating humans. These machines were extremely popular from 1860–1910. Some of them had very basic movements, such as arms/limbs, but others were much more complicated. The best Automatons could write, speak, serve tea, and sing. Amida, of BrickLink, created their own Lego Pegasus Automaton. A kinetic sculpture created entirely out of Lego. By turning a single gear, this graceful beast can flap its wings, move its tail, and pivot its body. All these movements come together in a pretty lifelike animation of flying. The white, brown, gray, and gold color palette, and some of the small details (the crystal knob) create a piece that could fit into any Jules Verne, or Steam Punk collection. Make sure to check out the video below.

“This Pegasus Automaton is moved by a series of mechanical gears and cranks. The Pegasus of white, hovering and flapping her wings, is recreated in balanced and correct body proportions to give vivid feelings. The gearbox has an antique beauty in clockwork style.” — Amida
