“I want to be the very best, Like no one ever was…” Pokemon Lego Ash and Misty

lisqr's Pokemon Lego Misty

Pokémon is still going strong today with the recent release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the Nintendo 3DS. Even the original Gameboy games are being sought after and collected today by fans. These original games, titled Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, lead to a television show spinoff. The original animated series made its debut in 1998 with a prime after school timeslot. The show took many liberties compared to the Gameboy games. With a whole cast of reappearing characters that were not present in the original games. The two most memorable are Ash, and his friends Misty and Brock. Two of these have been carefully recreated in Lego by lisqr.

Lego Misty is a great SNOT style figure. With her super orange hair and trademarked blue shorts and yellow tanktop her design is spot on. The anime style hair and eyes are especially good. Lego Ash on the other hand is wearing his (oversized) red and white hat. His design allows him to have more articulation then the Misty figure. I can just imagine him hassling a Lego Pikachu.

Na Na Na Na BA NA NA BATMAN! – Lego Despicable Me Batman Minion

JesperGirl's Lego Despicable Me Batman Minion

“Na Na Na Na BA NA NA BATMAN…. …POW!!!”

There is something enduring about the multitudes of Lego Despicable Me Minions. All sort of builds have popped up everywhere. One thing they all have in common is personality. For some reason the pill shape body and giant facial features of the Minions translates into Lego very well. Jesper_Girl, of Flickr, has recently shared their own Batman Minion; titled “Na Na Na Na BA NA NA BATMAN… …POW!!!” The basic design is built off of the Minions created by Bricksben. The Batman costume is excellent. Especially the Bat belt and cowl.

The Despicable Me Minions are some of the most popular posts on LegoGenre, so check them out here: http://everydaybricks.com/tag/minion/

A Lego Minion Maid Named Phil + More…

LegoAdmiral's Lego Minion Maid

Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 have proven to be extremely popular. This is mainly do to the little Minion character. The little Minions appear to be stupid (although some seem to geniuses) but full of personality. Even with these limitations they find themselves in a variety of situations where they end up ruining an experiment, or getting hurt. Even so, they might one day end up saving the planet.

Lego Admiral, from Flickr, has created a smorgasbord of Lego Minions. The newest is “Minion Maid – Phil” and features a little Minion dressed up as a maid, complete with a vacuum cleaner. Take a good look at the vacuum, because it is genius. The shape of it is spot on, and best of all it is built with relatively few bricks. The Lego Minion design is based on 3D sphere building techniques. This gives the Minions a very rotund appearance. Lego Admiral has created 3 basic body types that can be mixed and matched with varying hair and eye combinations. This semi-modular design means that these can quickly multiply into a full blow Minion army.

These Minions even have their own Lego CUUSOO page: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/47231. Each one can be built with 220-250 Lego bricks. Meaning that they are not overly complicated or cost prohibitive.

The Adventure Time Project, A Lego land of Ooo at Lego CUUSOO

jazlecraz's Lego Cuusoo, The Adventure Time Project

Lego and Adventure Time are an almost perfect match. Fans of both have been hoping for Lego to pick up an official license. Jazlecraz has created an incredibly detailed Lego CUUSOO project based on Adventure Time. This is the best way to get Lego to notice the demand for Adventure Time. There are currently over 9,000 supporters for this project, and when it hits 10,000 Lego has to officially review the proposal and make a decision. Lego has officially commented on the Adventure Time Project, and noted that no new molds would be created for a CUUSOO project. Meaning that the minifigures have been set aside in favor for a micro scale theme. Everybody would still love to see Finn, Jake, BMO, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, and Lemongrab get their own microfigures.

The Adventure Time Project is focused on created one amazing micro scale Tree Fort. Consisting of about 400 Lego pieces in its current incarnation. This means that it would fit in with the current $34.99 price point that Lego has favored for their CUUSOO theme. There are also six micro scale Lego sets that have been added as a bonus. Showing what could be done if this becomes a full theme. One thing is certain, if these were real there would be a whole lot of Finn and Jake figures.

The Simpsons Family Lego

madoruk's The Simpsons Family Lego

Lego is getting ready to release an official Simpsons theme next year. There are rumors that the the Collectible Minifigures Series 13 will be entirely Simpsons Minifigs. If you can’t wait until 2014 for these releases then your own imagination can get a jump start on the Simpsons fandom. For instance, Madoruk created The Simpsons Family in the Lego miniland scale. The whole family is pretty well represented. And, the use of mosaic building techniques is a perfect match to the animated style.
