The Lord of the Rings; The Council of Elrond in Lego
“If any of the Wise should with this Ring overthrow the Lord of Mordor, using his own arts, he would then set himself on Sauron’s throne, and yet another Dark Lord would appear. The Council Of Elrond is one of the most important scenes in the Lord of the Rings. This diplomatic meeting lays out the plans and sets up the events that would lead to the destruction of the One Ring. Lego has recently released an official set based on The Council of Elrond

A Lego Castle MOC: Welcoming The King
“Welcoming The King” is an almost perfect Lego scene. The biggest disappointment is that the display is not larger. A great way to show off your Lego MOC is by taking great photos of them. The overhead view with a plain or cutout background is standard, but when the camera is zoomed into the scene it can help liven it up. This is a great example. The crowd shot above, makes this parade look extremely lively, full on energy and sound. You can almost hear the crowd. Zooming in even further can highlight some of the tiny detail that would otherwise go unnoticed. For instance the banner (flag) saleswoman at the very edge of the scene is easy to miss. Yet here, the details have been brought out, creating what looks like a special Lego moment.
A Lego Castle MOC usually focuses on the main keep, but it is nice to see the rest of the castle and village. For instance this gatehouse leading into the city has been extremely well made. The classic Lego red roofs have never looked better. Check out the tiny windows that hint at a forced perspective.

Lego Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn Custom Minifigures
Baldur’s Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal)
Justin Stebbins, of Saber-Scorpion, has created a whole collection of custom minifigures. Showcasing most of the heroes and villains in Baldur’s Gate 2. Pictured above are minifigs for Jan Jansen, Keldorn Firecam, Aerie, Jaheira, Imoen, the Bhaalspawn, Minsc, Viconia De’Vir, Edwin Odessieron, Yoshimo, and Korgan Bloodaxe.
Most of these custom minifigures are accomplished with mini decals, stickers, and paint. This custom minifigure for Minsc and Boo ( a miniature giant space hamster) is a perfect example of what can be accomplished with such techniques.

Even the extremely popular drow (dark elf) Drizzt Do’Urden gets a custom minifig. With some amazing scimitars (from BrickWarriors, a custom Lego accessory store).
With the release of Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition
You can’t just make 15 minifigs without creating villains for them to play with. A custom Lego Sarevok, Amelyssan the Blackhearted, Jon Irenicus, and Bodhi are ready to terrorize the town of Athkatla and the surrounding lands of Amn.
Justin Stebbins has worked hard on these figures, some of them going through many different revisions. See if you can spot the changes between Jon Irenicus, Bodhi, and Amelyssan the Blackhearted.
Dungeons & Dragons based custom minifigures are becoming more and more common. Lego has been releasing new weapons, accessories, and hair pieces in the recent Lord of the Rings and Hobbit theme that transfer perfectly to other fantasy based themes. Hopefully we will be seeing many more of these type of projects.

Legends of Brickdom: Assassination
“The task assigned to Tarduan was simple enough: kill a certain Platinus commander involved with the planning of invading Daien, and take any intelligence he could while at it. It was good money too. Tarduan’s services usually went to the highest bidder. In these times of war, the government was the highest bidder.
After dispatching the guards, he rushed into the commander’s quarters and slew him with a quick stroke of his sword before his target had a chance to reach for the ceremonial sword on his desk. Flipping through documents, rifling through chests and drawers, he pocketed valuable documents, even ones which were not his target. Those could be easily sold to other kingdoms for good profit. However, something caught his eye. Several maps and aged parchment scrolls describing a certain object. One of the legendary god weapons, named Athor’s Gift. After quickly scanning the description, he was sure that investigating such an artifact would be worth his time. He also noted that the translations had been recorded weeks ago, meaning others would most likely be after it too. Tarduan would have to hurry.” — Legends of Brickdom
An interesting trend has taken hold in the Lego Castle community. The concept of creating a community based fantasy story and recreating scenes and locations in Lego is truly interesting. The Legends of Brickdom is one such story. These groups are currently creating some of the most impressive Lego Fantasy MOCs, vignettes, and scenes. Here is Ryclen’s first entry into the LoB group. The “Assassination” is amazing. Full of details, such as the stained glass, red carpet, the bookshelf, and one very well made desk. This Lego scene looks alive.

Lego Minifigures Series 11 Reviewed by WhiteFang @ Eurobricks
The new Lego Minifigures Series 11 is just starting to show up in stores. The packaging color will be a deep green, which matches the “holiday” theming of this series. At least three of the minifigs have a winter theme, including the Gingerbread Man, Yeti, and Holiday Elf. It looks like Series 11 is another great release. Although the distribution may cause the more desired minifigures in this set to be rare or uncommon.
WhiteFang, over on Eurobricks, has written up the definitive review. Every few months another Minifig Series is released and WhiteFang is there with an extremely detailed writeup. These figures have proven to be some of the most interesting that Lego produces. The sheer amount of new parts and detailed printing separates these from the normal minifigures from the other Lego sets.
“To me, this series remain a huge importance in the LEGO history and affirming my belief that all of these minifigures in the past, present and future series will continue to be regarded as part of the ‘Golden Age’ for the LEGO CMFs theme.”
The bad news for Series 11 is that the distribution is not at all friendly for the collector. The rarest figures are the most desired, Scarecrow, Tiki Warrior, Grandma, Jazz Musician, Bavarian Lady, and Dinner Waitress. This means that if picking out these figures from an opened box, the chances of finding these are extremely low. There are only two complete sets per box. Lets hope you like the Rock Climber, Welder, Constable, or Yeti as these are probably the minifigures you will find.
