Staying Dry With This Lego Elf Retreat

Lego Elf Retreat

This Lego Elf Retreat is the creation of Inthert. It was built as an entry into the MOC Wars 2020, in the Armless category. Which meant the scene had to feature weapons that were not being used as weapons. With that in mind you might notice that almost everything in this Elf Retreat is built out of weapons. Check out the guns used for the tree trunk, the axes and rifles used as lumber, and even the quiver full of arrows being used as a stair step. The most inventive use though is in that chair at the lookout spot. The crossbows used for chair legs is inspired. The end result is one of the best looking minifigure scale chairs around. Ultimately, there are seven different types of weapons hidden around. It’s hard to tell if all of these walkways are built to stay out of the purple water because it somehow looks relaxing and poisonous. The lego doors being used for these walkways is also a great detail. Giving a recycling vibe to these elves. It seems very fitting.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Lego Sets Now Available (79011, 79012, 79013, 79014)

It is December which means that a new wave of The Hobbit themed sets are now available. There are a total of 4 sets mainly focusing on Dol Guldur. It would have been nice to see a little bit more of Mirkwood or even Beorn’s home. Maybe future sets will fill in some of these gaps. Lake Town Chase is the star of this wave.

Amazon has these new sets in stock, and they seem pretty popular. The holiday season has been kind and discounts between 10-20% off have been popping up on these.

The Lord of the Rings; The Council of Elrond in Lego

Disco86's The Lord Of The Rings, The Council Of Elrond in Lego 01

“If any of the Wise should with this Ring overthrow the Lord of Mordor, using his own arts, he would then set himself on Sauron’s throne, and yet another Dark Lord would appear. And that is another reason why the Ring should be destroyed: as long as it is in the world it will be a danger even to the Wise. For nothing is evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so. I fear to take the Ring to hide it. I will not take the Ring to wield it.” — Elrond, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The Council Of Elrond is one of the most important scenes in the Lord of the Rings. This diplomatic meeting lays out the plans and sets up the events that would lead to the destruction of the One Ring. Lego has recently released an official set based on The Council of Elrond and although a good set, it does not express the importance of this event. Disco86 has created the ultimate Council of Elrond. All the characters are here, Aragorn, Boromir, Elrond, Gimli, Legolas, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo. Some welcome and other not (Merry, Pippin & Sam). All of these little details are present in this scene. Speaking of details, check out the ground that Elrond is standing on. Using the cheese wedge Lego pieces is a great way to achieve a SNOT appearance with curved surfaces. The trees in this scene are also very well done, showcasing the recent colors added to the Lego collection. This is a beautiful Lego build.

LOTR: The Three Hunters

pif500’s LOTR: The Three Hunters

When Merry and Pippin are stolen away by the Uruk Hai in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (LOTR) it is up to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli to hunt them down. This little vignette recreated the scene of the three hunters running after the Uruk Hai through East Emnet and Rohan very well.

This is an excellent MOC to showcase the new building trend for Lego rocks. By placing them at odd angles and on their sides the rocks come off as much more fluid and organic. It seems that this is increasingly popular, which is good news, because it looks great. The green grass molding and wrapping over the rock looks great too.
