Great Scott! A Lego Back To The Future Tensegrity Build

Great Scott! A Lego Back To The Future Tensegrity Build

Emmet Brown would approve of combining Lego and Tensegrity Sculptures. The concept of a system of tension that can support itself, while not actually interacting with itself is a neat idea. They often create optical illusions where heavy things can appear to be floating. This Lego Delorean is perfectly balanced and is ultimately being help up by just three strings. There have been some basic versions of this trick, but lately they have been more and more complicated/themed. This Lego Back To The Future Tensegrity build is the creation of hachiroku24. The theming is great. The base depicts part of a road, and the unpaved shoulder on the side. With Marty on a brick built hoverboard. He is connected to one of the stings, which is a clever way to make him look like he is really hovering. In the end this is a perfect way to display a Lego Back to the Future 2 themed Delorean.

A neat bonus is that hachiroku24 has provided video instructions on how to build this yourself. Showing how the support structure is built, and even showing how to balance everything at the end. Check out the video below, or over here: https://youtu.be/9HjtvKjwe0k

Lego Doraemon Is Sad

Lego Doraemon Is Sad, レゴ ドラえもん

Doraemon is a robotic cat from the 22nd century. After time traveling to the past, he finds Nobita Nobi who he has been sent to help. He brought a four-dimensional pouch with him, where he stores gadgets and stuff from the future. This Lego Doraemon (レゴ ドラえもん) is the creation of Moko. A couple of the really interesting details in the Lego MOC is the use of the Lego Minifigure hammer for the eyes. The lower part of this face and chin are set at an odd angle, which helps give him a more 3D look. These type of angles are always difficult to make look natural, a lot of the time leaving large gaps, but here it works well. Too bad we don’t know why he is so sad.

This Lego Delorean Is Almost Outatime

Lego Delorean Is Almost Outatime

The Delorean will always be associated with the film Back to the Future. It is one of the most iconic vehicles in the movies. So it makes sense that there are a lot of Delorean Lego builds. The official Lego Back to the Future Delorean (21103) is an excellent version, but it is a little rough. Most people critiqued the way the hood was broken up into two levels of plates and not smooth. This version of the Delorean, by Łukasz Libuszewski is much smoother. It is a normal version of the car, not the time traveling one. The sloping hood here is very well done, but it does leave how it was achieved up to the imagination. It looks like it can only hold one Minifigure, which is the same as the official release (although with a simple mod, you can fit two). This Lego MOC is so well done I want to see it turned into the more famous time machine.

Doctor Who

Bruceywan’s Doctor Who

Check out this fun Doctor Who MOC built by Bruceywan on Flickr. The Eleventh Doctor is sporting a cool red fez and a Sonic Screwdriver. The snot techniques here are all top notch with no stud unaccounted for. The use of the Lego fez for the bow tie is brilliant. This build is a part of the Iron Builder challenge, which is a Builders’s Lounge sponsored competition. The challenge piece is the dark red cone (fez) and is currently in Round 6: BruceyWan vs. CMaddison.
