The Awesome Lego Imperial Star Destroyer Mark II, by Jerac
The Star Destroyer is one of the most iconic and cool spaceships ever designed. Almost every kid from the last 30 years has wanted their own. Most of them are disappointing in some way, either being way too small, or not detailed enough. So, Jerac decided to built his own Lego Star Destroyer. And, this one is not a disappointment. This Imperial Star Destroyer Mark II is one of the most impressive and large Lego Star Wars spaceships ever built. The clean lines and perfect design come together in a model that could be a stand-in for the films.
This Imperial Star Destroyer Mark II is nicknamed the Chimaera. It weights about 110 pounds and contains over 42,000 Lego bricks. It is 252 studs long which is about 6.6 feet, or 202 cm. This ship is massive and Jerac estimates that it cost over $5,000 in parts. The whole project took over 6 months to design and build.
You can go see the Chimaera for yourself in Swarzewo, where it is on display. There are plans in the future to add lighting to the ship, which would make it even more impressive.

New Lego Creator, Mini Cooper (10242) Revealed
Lego has announced that its next Lego Creator set will be the Mini Cooper (10242). This classic green vehicle is made up of 1,077 pieces with a price point of $99.99. The overall shape and impression of this set is a good match to the real life version.
The details are amazing, with one of the most beautiful car interiors Lego has ever produced. The only catch is that the steering wheel looks a little bit low, maybe it can be adjusted. Lego Gardening: Beautifully Themed Lego Flower Pots
Sometimes you want to build Lego. Sometimes you want to plant a garden. Sometimes you want to do both, at the same time. Jin Kai Soo has created a mini series of Lego flower pots. Built around popular themed sets. The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and the Simpsons make up the first round of pots. These vignettes have captured some of the most iconic scenes in Lego form, and then integrated living plants. The end result is amazingly beautiful.
The little details really stand out. The choice of plants in each plot is spot on. The knobby roots for the little Hobbits to hide behind. The mossy and lush plants recreating the Forest Moon of Endor. And, the tiny and in scale plants outside the dinner from the Simpsons movie. The other details are great too. The skeleton Stormtrooper and the hungry crocodile fit in perfectly.
These Lego flower pots have been proposed as a project over on Lego Ideas. Go check them out, and vote for them. Other ideas have been proposed, such as Life of Pi, and Jack and the Beanstalk. You can find more photos featuring construction and water flow allowences.

Lego Ideas, Winter 2014 Review Results – Female Minifigure Set
Lego has recently announced the results of their Lego Ideas Winter 2014 Review. This is the first officially branded Lego Ideas Review, but all of the projects were approved under the old CUUSOO system. This review had a whole lot of projects. With Macross, the Legend of Zelda, Adventure Time, Back to the Future, Sherlock, and Japanese Old Style Architecture being considered. In the end, none of these projects were approved, but an older Lego CUUSOO idea will be the 8th Lego Ideas model. The Female Minifigure Set (Research Institute) has been announced, with a release date of August 2014!
It is interesting that over time these reviews are becoming more and more opaque to the public. Check out the whole video below:
Bricksy: Lego Banksy Photography by The Brick Fantastic
“Never bring a gun to a fruit fight.”
Banksy is well know for his graffiti art, activism, directing and painting. So well known that his most famous works are being recreated in Lego. The Brick Fantastic has produced 20 different Lego Banksy vignettes based on the artists work. These are expertly made images. A great deal of work went into recreating each scene, with lighting and backgrounds that do their best to create a believable Lego world. These vignettes are also good example of using perspective and depth-of-field in your Lego photography.
You can even buy prints of your favorite pieces.
“Strong-arm Flower Delivery specializes in tragically forbidden love.”
“There is always hope. Especially if you tie it to your wrist.”

United Nations Headquarters Lego MOC
Lego has done a great job with its architecture theme. One of the best models is the Lego United Nations Headquarters (21018). Some of these models are small, and have been shrunk down. The UN Headquarters is one of the most successful examples of this. Even though it is small, a good amount of detail is still present. If you have ever wondered what a Lego architecture set would look like if money and piece count didn’t matter, then this United Nations Headquarters by Spencer_R is perfect. This is a spot-on recreation of the UN Headquaters and has recently been updated with the newer trans blue pieces. The flags and adjoining park have been recreated perfectly and give this Lego MOC a sense of scale.

The Lego Movie: Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (70816) Review at New Elementary
Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (70816) might be the most anticipated release based on The Lego Movie. It certainly has an awesome name. This ship comes in at 940 pieces at a $99.99 price tag. It should start showing up in stores in June (2014) and if your lucky it may already be there (UPDATE: Now on Amazon!) . This retro styled spaceship is a perfect modern recreation of that 1980’s nostalgia. This set has a lot of huge expectations, and most of them have been met.
New Elementary has received Benny’s Spaceship early, and has reviewed it with a focus on detail and parts. There are a lot of rare and updated versions of classic parts in this new set. The classic blue, grey and yellow color scheme has been preserved. The yellow trans pieces are especially nice, and while all of them have been updated from their 1980’s inspiration these updates have been improvements.
“It’s gorgeous and sleek and Spacers will feel like they’ve got several Christmases at once.”
One thing that reviews of Benny’s Spaceship have in common is how surprising the size of the set is. This thing is huge. The final build comes in at 64 studs long, which is equal to 2 of the normal sized baseplates.
The spaceship comes with 4 Minifigures, 1 Unikitty, and a few brick built robots. There is Robo Emmet, which is Emmets slick robot disguise. Wyldstyle in a spacesuit, including a cool blue hoodie piece. A Robo Pilot, with a Space Police color scheme. Unikitty is dressed up in a slick blue spacesuit and nicknamed Astrokitty. And, last but not least there is Benny.
