Today (January 28th) is the start of the Lunar New Year 2017, and the celebrations will last though most of February. This year stars the Rooster. People born in years of the Rooster are supposed to be honest, intelligent, confident, and diverse. All perfect traits for Lego builders. ZiO Chao has been hard at work building a bunch of Lego Lunar New Year MOCs honoring the Rooster over the last month or so. The star of the build is the Rooster himself. A highly detailed and voluminous bird made of Lego pieces. The shapes and feather details are not easy to work with in Lego. Check out those tail feathers!
The bird is accompanied by a few builds of writing. These super complicated shapes are not at all friendly to the squarish Lego brick. What is amazing is just how legible the final MOCs are.
The super popular video game Overwatch has at least 23 characters, and that number is growing. With the newest being Sombra. Many people have been building Lego Overwatch MOCs based on these characters for a while now. Lego builder shm03337 has been creating a whole collection of Overwatch heroes. They have currently built nine, which seems like a lot but is not even half of them. This is a huge project.
The group consists of Lego versions of D.Va, Bastion, Torbjorn, Soldier 76, Mercy, Reaper, Pharah, Reinhardt, and Genji. The D.Va stands out for just how much work went into it. Not only did shm03337 build the character but they also built her mech suit. D.Va can also fit inside the suit, with some “slight” modifications to the Lego figure (removing legs). Then there is Bastion who has his Lego bird, Torbjorn with his awesome beard, Mercy’s wingspan, and Reinhardt’s huge hammer. There are so many characters, so if you do not see your favorite it might be added at a later time.

There is also a good 6 minute video that shows off all the little details for these Lego Overwatch characters. This was put together after the first 7 heroes where built, so a few of the newer ones are missing. It is a must watch video, especially to see how they all work.

One of the best comic book characters from the 80’s and 90’s is Tank Girl. She is famous for all of her adventures across a post-apocolypitic Australia. Not only does she have a tank, but a mutant kangaroo boyfriend, a collection of talking stuffed animals, and a core group of weird friends. This Lego Tank Girl is the newest custom Minifigure from Minifigs.me. She even comes with her own comic. Here is a Lego Star Wars collection of brick built figures based on Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. There is Princess Leia (the only human), R5-D4, R2-D2, and C-3PO. They are built mostly in scale with each other. R2-D2 and R5-D4 are great little builds with a lot of character. In fact the R2-D2 reminds me of the new and rare R2-D2 polybag (30611) from Lego. C-3PO is a great build, and a lot of time went into making sure he was perfect. The key was finding all the correct gold pieces. The Lego vent pieces as the torso wiring is a great solution. Last but not least is Princess Leia. Her brick built figure has the famous hair buns, and is much more posable then she looks. Check out the photos below to see what she can do. A rather large set was also built of the space ship Tantive IV. Allowing a recreation of one of the most famous scenes in the series.
The Princess Leia and R2-D2 were built as a tribute for Carrie Fisher and Kenny Baker. Below, you can really see how well these Lego figures work together. The title of this photo is “”Did you miss me?”

You too can relive 1984 with this Lego Apple Macintosh 128k. Ryan McNaught built the Mac, and almost everything else on the desk out of Lego. The Rubik’s Cube, Pencil/Pen Cup, the Pens, Calculator, Rolodex, and even that little Pencil are all Lego. The only thing that is not are the wires connecting the keyboard and mouse. This MOC took Ryan over 22 hours to build with some 4,500 pieces. There are so much beige bricks. Some of the best details include the retro multi-colored Apple logo, the keys on the keyboard, and the plates used as the rolodex cards. But the best detail is the screen and icon. This Lego Mac seems a little less happy then normal.
This is the Lego version of the Caterpillar P-5000 Powered Work Loader, also known as a Power Loader. It looks like Ripley is ready to fight, rather than power load space stuff. This little build is the creation of Andreas Lenander. Who creatively used the Lego fence piece for the cage. Also check out the joysticks and the tiny feet. Just be advised that an Alien is not included.
Just finished watching Frozen for the millionth time and you need more? Are the Lego mini-doll figures are just not enough? Then your only option is to build your own. Which is what YOS Lego has done with their Lego Anna & Elsa (Frozen) figures. These figures have a little bit of movement to them, you can turn their heads and hands. They also feature removable arms so that you can give them different poses. Not only that but Elsa has a whole giant ice “snake” as an accessory. The details are great, just check out the hair (which is way more complicated then it looks), and check out the details on Anna’s dress.

It looks like the heroes from Final Fantasy XV (Noctis, Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto) have stumbled into some sort of Lego MOC. Just another detour from the main quest. You wouldn’t want them to actually do what they are supposed to (which you don’t, the main quest is…). You could say the game has a few hubs in the open world portion. One of which is the Hammerhead Garage. Home of Cid and Cindy. For some reason they are more then happy to wash all of the dust and spiderwebs off the Lego Regalia. This Hammerhead Garage MOC is the creation of Joseph Z.
