Lego Island was the first PC Lego game way back in 1997. It proved a success with over 1 million copies sold and multiple awards. The game described itself as: “There is so much to do on Lego Island: building, racing, flying, water jetting, skateboarding, and just kickin’ with your firends… unless you accidentally let the Brickster out of jail.” The video game had a small cast of characters. The police officer Nick Brick, police officer Laura Brick, the pizza delivery dude Pepper, the pizza chef Papa Brickolini, music and pizza fan Mama Brickolini, and finally the Infomaniac. This game oozes with mid 90’s attitude. The forced attitude that only companies at the time thought was cool.

Back in 2012 the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences built an automated Lego Mindstorms Bridge Layer. The Bridge Layer is some sort of truck that carries a folded up bridge. When it comes across a gap it can unfold the bridge, and travel over the gap. Once across, the truck then picks up the bridge, folds it up, and moves on. The Department of Electrical Engineering built this robot with Lego Mindstorms 2.0. It has been programmed with Robot C, and it communicates using Bluetooth. On board there are 4 servo motors, 2 linear actuators, 2 ultrasonic sensors, 2 touch sensors, and 2 color sensors. The Rebels in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back are a ragtag group of resistance fighters. They have desperately put together a fleet of starships and starfighters as they prepare to assault the Empire. This fleet is one of the most iconic scenes from Empire Strikes Back, and a lot of kids who saw it in theaters wanted to create their own in Lego. For many years this proved challenging; but now with a lot of time, artistic inspiration, and a lot of money, you too can create your own Lego Star Wars Fleet.
Mortesv, the self-styled Admiral of the Rebel Fleet, has spent a good chunk of time recreating the fleet in Lego. The whole project is mostly in scale. The stars of the show are huge Lego MOCs of the Redemption and Tantive IV. If you look carefully you can even find a few unwelcome guests among the fleet.
There are 52 ships represented here. 15 X-Wings, 16 Y-Wings, 6 B-Wings, 5 A-Wings, 3 GR-75 Medium Transports, 2 TIE Fighters, 1 Corellian Corvette (Tantive IV), 1 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (The Redemption), 1 Firespray-class interceptor (Slave 1),1 Lambda-class T-4a Shuttle (Tyderium), and 1 Millennium Falcon.
A whole system of clear support structures and connectors keep the Rebel Fleet afloat. This helps keep the focus on the ships themselves. With all the detail and greebling the last thing you want to do is hide anything behind ugly structures.
The Flight of the Conchords are a humorous folk band from New Zealand. They are most well known for their great HBO television show. It has been years since the show ended and the band has recently reunited for a tour. So it is no surprise to see a new Lego FOTC MOC.
There are a total of four vignettes in the series. The iconic bedroom, a tiny kitchen, a stage, and Murray’s office. Each one of these scenes is instantly recognizable and is great for displaying the Minifigures. Of which, we have four. There are the main characters Jemaine and Bret, the band manager Murray, and the crazy fan Mel. These are spot on, and no one is going to get these Minifigs mixed up.

The next big comic book movie is out now. This one seems to be very decisive. But, one thing is for sure. Suicide Squad has a very dedicated fan base, creating lots of amazing things in support for the film. MGF Customs has finished creating a whole line of custom Lego Suicide Squad Minifigures. There is Col. Rick Flag, Katana, Captain Boomerang, Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, El Diablo, and Killer Croc. These are some of the most details customs, especially the scales on Killer Croc and all the tattoos on Joker/Harley.
These custom Minifigs have a great showcase available to watch. Over 20 minutes of video covering the designs and all the details for each character.
Forrest Whaley, Sean Willets, Christopher Gearhart are pretty excited for the new Suicide Squad film. They teamed up to recreate the trailer with Lego. It features custom Minifigures, which look great. Almost everything here is built from official Lego pieces. Even the titles have been recreated with digital Lego pieces. Everything comes together into an exciting 42 second trailer. It might even be better than the film.

Lego MOCs come in all shapes and sizes, and some of the most remarkable are the also the largest. This is the Samurai Code; a gigantic MOC created by Ben Pitchfork. Just the cost to build something like this is something to marvel at. Thousands and thousands of Lego pieces make up this huge Japanese volcanic island. This project has a little bit of everything, a huge MOC, a Lego Ideas proposal, and time-lapse video.
Featuring an ancient shrine (or samurai dojo), a huge mountain lake, multiple waterfalls, a volcano, beach, rope bridges, islands, steep cliffs, winding paths, and lots of little secrets. This is a masterpiece.
The best part is the whole thing has been wired up with LEDs. Giving these twin peaks a whole new atmosphere in the dark. The lighting brings out new details, while creating dangerous shadows.
Lego Ideas Samurai Code
A piece of the Samurai Code has been carefully recreated as a Lego Ideas project. Go vote!

For this year’s Comic-Con, Frank designed, sculpted, and painted a LEGO-inspired mask, made to look like a real-life version of a minifig. We’re calling it the creeppyfig, and it found its way home wandering through Comic-Con’s exhibit hall.”
The team over at Tested, created a real Lego Minifigure. And, it is amazing. They then walked the convention floor at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). The best part is Frank getting comfortable in the official Lego both. After you get past the beady eyes, and clammy skin.
Swiss Ghostbusters got their hands on the upcoming Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) a few weeks early. The new set will be released in January 2016, at $350. They put together an extremely slick build and review video. This thing is huge.

It sounds like an official Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters (75827) will be released in 2016! Over on YouTube, just2good released this scoop (here). The upcoming set will be impressive. The Firehouse will contain well over 4,000 pieces and cost somewhere near $350. This puts it in the same category as the Deathstar or the recent Avengers Helicarrier in terms of scope. The whole thing should open up, and be relatively modular. It will be interesting to see if it can fit in with the ever popular Modular Buildings theme. Good news, even though the release is 2016, the wait won’t be too long. The Headquarters should be released on January 1st, 2016.
