This Is No Cave. A Lego Space Slug.

This Is No Cave. A Lego Space Slug.

“This is no cave.” Those famous words spoken by Han Solo as they realize they could be trapped inside a giant space slug. This Lego MOC called “Space Slug Escape” is created by DarthBricks. This is an entry into Vignweek, a Lego vignette building challenge. The specific theme is space. The scene has been built on a 16×17 stud base. The asteroid is pretty accurate to Star Wars. The rock work is simple, and it help to focus the attention on the action happening in the center. The space slug is appropriately toothy. The transparent blue engine trail grabs your attention. And, the micro scale Millennium Falcon is perfect.

The Millennium Batwing — A Lego Star Wars Batman Crossover

The Millennium Batwing — A Lego Star Wars Batman Crossover

This is the Millennium Batwing created by amusered. It is an epic crossover between Lego, Star Wars, and Batman. Specifically, the red, black, and grey colors fit in with Batman Beyond. This is not a part swap build of the Lego Millennium Falcon, it is a wholly unique design. The biggest differences include the cockpit, and in the front the connected mandibles (is there a better term for those?). From design to the finished build the whole project took about a year. There is an incredible amount of greebling here. So many ports, grills, tubes, hoses, and transparent pieces. You can even find a pair of Lego keys. There is a furnished interior, but that will remain a mystery. I like to think that Batman spends some of his time playing chess. A question about this Batwing that comes to mind is… does Batman let Robin pilot?

In A Tiny Galaxy Far, Far Away – Microscale Lego Star Wars

In A Tiny Galaxy Far, Far Away - Microscale Lego Star Wars, Episode IV - A New Hope

These microscale Lego Star Wars models are the work of Rod Gillies. You cannot get much smaller than this. Each tiny model features a vehicle or two in its iconic setting. Most of these vignettes have been built off of a 4×6 grid, with a few exceptions going up to 6×6 studs. Microscale is an interesting challenge, you need to include just enough detail to get an impression while building as small as possible. These three sets are each based off of the original trilogy. The sets from A New Hope feature the Sandcrawler, Millennium Falcon, and a X-Wing and Tie Fighter. The little radar dish on the Falcon and the tiny s-foils on the X-Wing are especially well done. The sets from The Empire Strikes Back feature an AT-AT Walker, Luke’s X-Wing and Yoda’s Hut, and the Cloud City of Bespin. The X-Wing being sunken into the swamp is a great effect, as are the sunset stained clouds on Bespin. Finally, the three sets from Return of the Jedi feature Jabba’s Sail Barge, the Imperial Shuttle, and another Millennium Falcon. The tiny Sarlacc pit, and the pipes from the Death Star are a couple of the stand out details.

It’s The Ship That Made The Rainbow Road In less Than Twelve Parsecs. – A Falcon Recolor

Peter De Smet Lego Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon Recolor 01

If you didn’t pick up the Lego Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon 10179 you are probably not going to be able to attain it now. New in box will run you a couple thousand dollars. The original set is the second largest released by Lego at 5,922 pieces and a $500 price tag. The good news is that if you do not care about color, almost every piece is available in other releases. That is exactly what Peter De Smet did with his UCS Millennium Falcon Recolor. The end product looks like something that flew through the Rainbow Road.

The Rebel Fleet. A Lego Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back MOC.

“But the glow of the stars is just a faint glimmer compared to the magnificence of the kickass Rebel Fleet just outside!”

The Rebels in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back are a ragtag group of resistance fighters. They have desperately put together a fleet of starships and starfighters as they prepare to assault the Empire. This fleet is one of the most iconic scenes from Empire Strikes Back, and a lot of kids who saw it in theaters wanted to create their own in Lego. For many years this proved challenging; but now with a lot of time, artistic inspiration, and a lot of money, you too can create your own Lego Star Wars Fleet.

Mortesv, the self-styled Admiral of the Rebel Fleet, has spent a good chunk of time recreating the fleet in Lego. The whole project is mostly in scale. The stars of the show are huge Lego MOCs of the Redemption and Tantive IV. If you look carefully you can even find a few unwelcome guests among the fleet.

There are 52 ships represented here. 15 X-Wings, 16 Y-Wings, 6 B-Wings, 5 A-Wings, 3 GR-75 Medium Transports, 2 TIE Fighters, 1 Corellian Corvette (Tantive IV), 1 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (The Redemption), 1 Firespray-class interceptor (Slave 1),  1 Lambda-class T-4a Shuttle (Tyderium), and 1 Millennium Falcon.

A whole system of clear support structures and connectors keep the Rebel Fleet afloat. This helps keep the focus on the ships themselves. With all the detail and greebling the last thing you want to do is hide anything behind ugly structures.
