Behind the Scenes; Building Lego for Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine Nine Logo, Behind The Scenes With Lego

Brooklyn Nine-Nine recently featured Lego in a scene with Detective Sergeant Terence “Terry” Jeffords (played by Terry Crews). Afterwards something awesome happened. Reddit user austoncall posted a whole bunch of behind the scenes photographs showing what went into creating the Lego tower. Although it took a whole lot more work then someone would expect, the Lego tower looked great as it was being destroyed on set.

The whole project started out as about $300 worth of brand new Lego. Everything was built with 2 complete sets of the Lego King’s Castle (70404), 2 Builders of Tomorrow (6177) sets, 2 Lego Creative Buckets (10662), 1 Lego Creative Building Kit (5749), 1 Lego Education Doors, Windows, & Roof Tiles set (9386), plus a few baseplates and other miscellaneous parts.

The greatest challenge to creating these props, was figuring out what kind of style to build the tower. A sleek modern tower that the best AFOL would create, or a tower created out of a hodgepodge of bricks (like a child would build). After a few attempts, the show decided on something in between. A good decision, as it is instantly recognizable as Lego. In the end three towers were needed, so that the crew could film multiple takes and angles. If you look closely the three towers look similar, but are actually slightly different.

The Adventure Time Project, A Lego land of Ooo at Lego CUUSOO

jazlecraz's Lego Cuusoo, The Adventure Time Project

Lego and Adventure Time are an almost perfect match. Fans of both have been hoping for Lego to pick up an official license. Jazlecraz has created an incredibly detailed Lego CUUSOO project based on Adventure Time. This is the best way to get Lego to notice the demand for Adventure Time. There are currently over 9,000 supporters for this project, and when it hits 10,000 Lego has to officially review the proposal and make a decision. Lego has officially commented on the Adventure Time Project, and noted that no new molds would be created for a CUUSOO project. Meaning that the minifigures have been set aside in favor for a micro scale theme. Everybody would still love to see Finn, Jake, BMO, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, and Lemongrab get their own microfigures.

The Adventure Time Project is focused on created one amazing micro scale Tree Fort. Consisting of about 400 Lego pieces in its current incarnation. This means that it would fit in with the current $34.99 price point that Lego has favored for their CUUSOO theme. There are also six micro scale Lego sets that have been added as a bonus. Showing what could be done if this becomes a full theme. One thing is certain, if these were real there would be a whole lot of Finn and Jake figures.

Lego Breaking Bad by Zoran Bosnjak

ZoranBosnjak's Lego Breaking Bad

It has been a few weeks since the series finale of Breaking Bad. The ending has sparked a lot of creativity. Zoran Bosnjak has even created his own mini Lego set based on Breaking Bad. What makes this one stand out is that everything is made up of relatively easy to find pieces. Unlike the Breaking Bad Superlab Playset, which contains a lot of custom bricks. The detail of the lab is great, being instantly recognizable without a whole lot of parts.

This Lego Breaking Bad MOC even comes with a whole lot of minifigs, such as Mike, Gustavo, Saul, Walter, Jesse, and Mike. It looks like there is enough Blue Sky Candy for everyone.

A Lego Breaking Bad Superlab Playset from Citizen Brick

CitizenBrick's Lego Breaking Bad Superlab Playset

Breaking Bad is wrapping up its final season and what better way to celebrate then with a Lego Breaking Bad Superlab Playset, designed and sold through Citizen Brick. Walter White is a high school chemistry teacher, who after discovering that he has lung cancer, decides to get into the local meth scene. By utilizing his scientific knowledge, Walter is able to quickly disrupt and ultimately conquer the meth trade. It is easy to say that Lego would never create an official theme for Breaking Bad. The details of this unofficial Lego Breaking Bad playset are amazingly accurate. The whole lab comes together in a modular design, with re-arrangeable walls, it is easy to display as one giant Superlab or three separate labs.

Lego Adventure Time Main Title

Cartoon Network has created a promo for Adventure Time where they completely redid the Main Title in Lego. The end result is a very well done recreation, showcasing many different styles of Lego building. This Lego Adventure Time looks so good it raises the demand for an official Adventure Time theme.

“(Lego) Adventure Time, C’mon grab your friends, We’ll go to very distant lands. With Jake the Dog and Finn the Human, The fun will never end, it’s (Lego) Adventure Time!”

Now lets see a Lego version for “Cake the Cat and Fionna the Human.”

Lego Adventure Time with Lemongrab

MrScareChrome's Lemongrab Face

A Lego version of Adventure Time with Finn & Jake would make a great theme. The sheer craziness that is the Land of Ooo has created many great characters. For instance the Earl of Lemongrab, pictured above. Lemongrab happens to be one of those characters who have spun out of control and cause huge headaches for Finn & Jake. This build uses a Lego banana perfectly. I wonder what a Lego version of the Lemon Children would look like.

Lego House Lannister & House Stark of Game of Thrones

There are probably millions of characters in the Game of Thrones series. It is overwhelming at first, but once you get into the novels, or through half of the TV show they all start to become familiar. Arguably the two most important families (sorry Targaryen, Baratheon, Greyjoy, Tyrell, & Martell) of a Song of Ice and Fire are House Lannister and House Stark. These two families alone have over 13 characters, and that is not counting friends and associates. Amazingly, Lego minifigures translate pretty well into the GoT universe. With the recent increase in detail and variety of minifigs, people have many more options when creating their own figures. This version of House Lannister and House Stark has been created by th_squirrel, and is one of the highest quality builds using standard Lego pieces.

First up is House Stark which features, in order from left to right: Sansa, Eddard, Rob, Rickon, Catelyn, Bran, Hodor, Arya, and Jon Snow.

Everyones favorite family to hate, House Lannister, in order from left to right: Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Tywin, and Joffery Lannister.
