Lego Minifigures Online, An MMO for 2014

It looks like another Lego video game is on its way. This time it is an MMO style game where you are collecting the various minifigure characters and their powers. It looks like an interesting way to combine the collectable minifigures into their own video game. Lets hope that Funcom and Lego can keep this one online longer then the short lived Lego Universe.

Lego Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn Custom Minifigures

Baldur’s Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal) is one of those legendary video games. Developed originally by BioWare and published by Black Isle Studios back in 2000. Recently there has been a resurgence of popularity with the release of the Enhanced Edition and various Kickstarter projects. Baldur’s Gate is one of the most successful Dungeons & Dragons PC games ever. Set in the Forgotten Realms campaign, a high fantasy world made famous by the author R. A. Salvatore. BG2 is an RPG full of tiny details, hidden secrets, and memorable characters.

Justin Stebbins, of Saber-Scorpion, has created a whole collection of custom minifigures. Showcasing most of the heroes and villains in Baldur’s Gate 2. Pictured above are minifigs for Jan Jansen, Keldorn Firecam, Aerie, Jaheira, Imoen, the Bhaalspawn, Minsc, Viconia De’Vir, Edwin Odessieron, Yoshimo, and Korgan Bloodaxe.

Most of these custom minifigures are accomplished with mini decals, stickers, and paint. This custom minifigure for Minsc and Boo ( a miniature giant space hamster) is a perfect example of what can be accomplished with such techniques.

Even the extremely popular drow (dark elf) Drizzt Do’Urden gets a custom minifig. With some amazing scimitars (from Bric kWarriors, a custom Lego accessory store).

With the release of Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition, came four new characters. Custom minifigures for Baeloth the Entertainer, Neera the Wild Mage, Dorn Il-Khan, and Rasaad yn Bashir the monk. Hopefully some day we will see these characters make it into Baldur’s Gate 2.

You can’t just make 15 minifigs without creating villains for them to play with. A custom Lego Sarevok, Amelyssan the Blackhearted, Jon Irenicus, and Bodhi are ready to terrorize the town of Athkatla and the surrounding lands of Amn.

Justin Stebbins has worked hard on these figures, some of them going through many different revisions. See if you can spot the changes between Jon Irenicus, Bodhi, and Amelyssan the Blackhearted.

Dungeons & Dragons based custom minifigures are becoming more and more common. Lego has been releasing new weapons, accessories, and hair pieces in the recent Lord of the Rings and Hobbit theme that transfer perfectly to other fantasy based themes. Hopefully we will be seeing many more of these type of projects.

The Lego Movie Video Game Screenshots

The Lego Movie will be getting its very own video game. TT Games and Lego have announced that The Lego Movie Video Game will be released with the upcoming The Lego Movie, which will be in February 2014. Making its home on pretty much every single platform available. From the new Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U, to with the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, 3DS and Vita. Don’t be too surprised if it also ends up on iOS (which most of the recent games have).

These The Lego Movie Video Game screenshots show off a world that is built out of Lego bricks (instead of the typical TT Game style of rendered backgrounds). The only other concrete detail is that the new game will feature at least 90 playable characters inspired by the film, and 15 levels.

Atlas and P-Body from Portal 2

ATLAS and P-Body, also known as Blue and Orange, are everybody’s favorite playable robots from Portal 2. They were created by GLaDOS as a means to replace human subjects in the Cooperative Testing Initiative at the Aperture Science Enrichment Center.

Fun robot fact: ATLAS (the round one) is male, and P-Body (the tall one) is female.

Here they have been recreated in Lego. The overall shape and design match up pretty well when compared to the source material. A difficult achievement, considering how intricate and non-Lego like their design is. This MOC is a perfect example in how integrating rubber bands into your builds can help you build the impossible. Check out the rubber bands wrapping around their core, and delicate joints.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes Trailer

It looks like a new Lego game is due out this October. This time the theme will be Lego Marvel Super Heroes. The goofy style that TT Games has perfected over this past decade looks like a perfect fit.
