The Lego Daisy Hill House

Lego lends itself to modern architecture surprisingly well. The geometric and clean designs can be replicated with SNOT building techniques. A great modern style Lego MOC is the Daisy Hill House created by Sarah Beyer. The actual build is unfinished but some of the interior rooms are done. A bedroom, kitchen, and upstairs landing have been completed. The results are amazing. The landing uses a variety of patterns and geometric shapes. The Lego bookcases look very good, and OSHA would approve of the the railing. The bedroom features a lot of natural light, achieved by building the windows sideways. The plant adds some life to the room.

Downstairs is an open floor plan kitchen. The different patterns on the walls, the windows, and the grid aligned floor all combine well. The sofa is nice and clean, and the houseplants look happy. This modern house would make many a Lego Minifigure happy!

I Saw (Lego) Spider-Man Today

I Saw Spider-Man Today, is a Lego MOC by Barthezz Brick. The scene features three huge buildings, a few streets, and a whole lot of details. Everything looks weathered, accomplished by using various misaligned and ill-fitting Lego bricks. Giving the whole setting a very New York feel. Especially the more gritty version from some of the comics. There is a lot going on in this build. If you look carefully you can spot Spider-Man, a Sushi stand, Motorcycle, newsstand, and even a saxophone player. Everything has been brought together by the excellent use of custom decals and stickers. Especially the Coca-Cola sign.

Barthezz Brick has even provided a short story, setting the scene:

“The scultz gang robbed their third bank this week. I chased one of the robbers for three blocks when he tore his money bag on W 37th street. He lost more than half of his loot. I doubted, should i secure the money or should i keep chasing the bloke?

I decided to keep track on the scultz gang member, but then all of a sudden i saw spider-man. He came out of nowhere and webbed the guy in the middle of a busy crossroad. It was amazing!! Finally when the police arrived they arrested that son of a b*tch and took him to the nearest police station.

It was amazing to see my childhood dreams came true. Spider-Man you’re my Hero!”

Lego Batman vs Joker At The Art Deco Gotham Theater

There are a whole bunch of Lego Batman MOCs out there (click here). And for some reason people put a whole lot of time creating some of the most massive Lego scenes out there (see this one, and this one). The great thing is that there is always room for more. Check out this beautiful Lego MOC, titled “Lego Batman vs Joker Gotham Theater Showdown” built by Paul Hetherington. The scene depicts an epic fight between Batman, Robin, and Joker in the streets of Gotham. This MOC is essentially three smaller builds in one. The center piece is the Art Deco styled Gotham Theater, there is the street and trolly outside, and there is a huge brick built background. There is even a detailed story:

“Once again that Mad Harlequin of Hate, The Joker, brings menace to the citizens of Gotham. Beware as the Streetcar named Destruction advances into Gotham, and the Joker’s henchmen unleash horrible Joker Gas! Listen to the eerie dreadful laughing — has the Joker taken control of everyone?!? Wait — look above – that symbol of justice descending from the sky — The Batcopter! Piloted by the plucky Robin, The Boy Wonder and the courageous Batman! Are the tornado team of crime crushers in time to oppose the Grim Jester in the gripping tale of — Gotham Theater Showdown!”

Paul Hetherington has created one of the most beautiful Lego Art Deco style buildings. The Gotham Theater was originally inspired by Marbro Theater of Chicago (sadly torn down in 1964). This build features a limited palette of beige, brown, black, and gold detailing. Check out all of the unique patterns and textures on the facade.

The Lego Batman vs Joker Gotham Theater Showdown has a secret. Power functions have been built into the scene and carefully hidden. The street car moves back and forth. The Joker is moving/aiming the balloon cannon up and down. The cops are all laughing out of control, spinning and falling down. And the Batcopter is hovering/twirling in place amid all this chaos.

Minifigures Need To Eat Too, Part 2 – Lego Taco Bell And KFC!

Lego Minifigures are lining up to eat a Cool Ranch® Doritos® Locos Tacos or a KFC Famous Bowl®. They can even wash it down with an ice cold Pepsi, Yum (Brands)! These two Lego MOC fast food buildings are the creation of Eric Badis, who is putting together a nice collection of Lego fast food joints. The Lego Taco Bell features the standard beige and purple design you will find in almost any city. The sign/logo and the wallpaper pattern are all custom printouts applied to the Lego building. The end result is amazingly lifelike. Then their is the Lego KFC, which features a more exaggerated design. It is based on the red and white stripe motif that you find on their buckets. This tall two story building will fit in with the official modular buildings.

A Lego French Classical Stage Featuring The Molière Comedies

“This project make possible to represent at least six of Molière’s most famous comedy : Dom Juan, Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, The Imaginary Invalid (Le Malade imaginaire), The Learned Ladies (Les Femmes savantes) and The Affected Young Ladies (Les Précieuses ridicules). But, of course, minifigures and pieces can be used to build anything you want !”

The Lego French Classical Stage is a Lego Ideas project created by Campistron1984. The stage is based on the Théâtre du Palais-Royal, a French theatre in the seventeenth century. This one has been set up to feature the Molière Comedies, and if you want you can build and create new backdrops to host any number of shows. The back of the theatre can easily be switched out. This Lego MOC comes equipped with a salon set, a dinning room, and a bedroom set. Also feature are a couple of trap doors, so you can fool even the most skeptical Minifigure. Welcome To The Lego City House Of Culture!

This is the Lego House Of Culture, designed and build by O0ger. It is always an interesting challenge when you take one of those weird ugly Lego Pieces and use them in a new way. In this case, the gigantic wing that comes in sets like the Lego City Airport 60104. Two of these big wings are used to create the roof of the House of Culture. The large whole in the wing, where the rest of the plane goes has been transformed into a neat skylight. Some other details of note include the giant chess set on the patio, a nice looking bus shelter, and some neat benches built into the landscaping. The end result is one awesome architecture themed MOCs.

Minifigures Need To Eat Too. Lego Dunkin Donuts And Texas Road House.

This Dunkin’ Donuts and Texas Road House are built in the Lego Modular scale. And, just like in real life these buildings will stick out. The bright fast food colors of this Lego Dunkin’ Donuts would wake up the most sleepy Minifig. These two buildings are relatively simple looking and are both based off the same template (just like their real life versions). Although they do hide a lot of interesting details. Check out the Lego windows being used as a modern overhang over at DD. While the Texas Road House has a cute little cactus out front. These SNOT style buildings look good and would be a perfect addition to any modern town set up. After all, your Lego Minifigures need to eat food too.

Chinese Architecture – Near Sanyuanqiao Station, Beijing

Lego builder Qian Yj has specialized in building Chinese themed Lego MOCs. One of their latest models is this “Lego Chinese Wind Architecture – Kuang Dian.” It is an amazing study of Chinese Architecture. The facade near perfect. Check out the details such as the trim around the roof, the red lanterns, the various seating arrangements, and the custom signage.

This Lego Restaurant is not a small building, and the interior is fully built. It looks like there are private dinning rooms, booths, a kitchen, and more all squeezed in. Using the 2×4 flat plates for detailing on the walls is a great idea.

This Lego Restaurant is actually based on a real life location. The restaurant is located around the Sanyuanqiao Station in Beijing. If you compare it to the Lego version, you will that almost every detail is represented. The scale is a bit off, but that is typical of Lego projects.

Video Game Or Lego? – The Last Of Us Lego MOC

You can build anything out of Lego. Even huge dioramas based on zombie/apocalypse video games. Such as this MOC which is based on the The Last of Us. The game is easily one of the best of the last decade, and a sequel has recently been announced. The ruined buildings have been detailed down to the smallest piece. The whole creation is 3 1/2 feet wide, and 2 feet deep. It uses thousands and thousand of bricks. Interestingly enough, it sounds like one of the buildings here is made up of custom 3D printed bricks. Can you guess which one?

The buildings contain some incredible work creating the rundown walls of the buildings. A few of the techniques used can be seen over here. The Lego buildings even have plants and vines growing out of them. The whole overgrown feeling captures the game exactly. You can find some other details too: a ruined bus, a military vehicle, and even Minifigures of Ellie and Joel.

An interesting detail are the broken windows. Each building has a different way of creating these. There are stacked 1×2 clear bricks, overlapping multiple small Lego windows, unevenly stacked windows, and a combination of the other three.

The Last Of Us Lego Interiors.

Each building contains fully customized and detailed interiors. Each floor is different which means there are a lot of hidden features in these buildings. A few of the scenes created contain ruined toilets, rundown kitchens, pillaged stores, and broken bars.

The only thing missing is a pack of Clickers, crazy Militias, or some Fireflies.

Don’t Tear Down This Wall (Lego Wall Techniques)

“A quite simple, but very decent looking wall technique using 1×2 jumpers (the newer ones!) and 1×2 door rail pieces. It looks a little bit simpilar to just plates and tiles, but you can actually add much more texture with this one.” Simon NH

It is super easy to build a wall out of Lego. They have a few newer pieces that you can use to create more detailed (and less manufactured) walls. Even then you might need something different to help your MOC stand out. So, it is always good to be on the look out for new Lego building techniques. Some Lego builders are great with sharing their techniques, and that is the case with Simon NH. He recently shared a way to create a brick wall that is relatively simple. Using just 2 different bricks to achieve the effect.
