Lego Maersk Line Triple-E (10241) Container Ship Revealed!

Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241

Lego has recently announced a new entry in its Maersk Theme. The Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241 container ship is one of the largest ships that Lego has released. Measuring more than 2 feet long this ship is going to have a tough time fitting in a bath tub. Speaking of which, Lego is quick to point out that the Triple-E does not float. The Maersk ship does feature twin engines and propellers, viewing port into said engine, rudders, lifeboats, removable containers, movable crane, and one hidden coin. It also looks like this set will be featuring about a million stickers.

This is the first Maersk ship to be built using the new medium azure (blue). In the past Lego used an exclusive color, Maersk blue, which could only be found in Maersk themed sets. It would seem that Maersk blue has been retired, at least for the time being.

Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241 Detail

This massive container ship is made up of 1,518 pieces, which makes it a decent value at $149.99. One interesting detail is that Lego and Maersk are making a big deal out of the twin propeller engines, even building a viewing port into the side of the hull. The 10241 Lego Maersk Line Triple-E will be available in January 2014.

Lego Minifigures Series 11 Details from Brickset

The upcoming Lego Minifigures Series 11 has now been fully revealed. Herman Napierala sent the above image over to Brickset. It is from the little instruction sheet and collectors guide from a recently purchased Series 11 minifigure. It seems that the Leclerc supermarket in Poland is selling these a little bit early.

Series 11 will include: Barbarian, Scarecrow, Bavarian Lady, Evil Mech, Tiki Warrior, Gingerbread Man, Holiday Elf, Yeti, Mountain Climber, Welder, Scientist, Jazz Musician, Diner Waitress, Grandma, Constable, and a Lady Robot (Fembot).

A surprisingly strong selection this time around.

The Lego Movie Video Game Screenshots

The Lego Movie Video Game Screenshots

The Lego Movie will be getting its very own video game. TT Games and Lego have announced that The Lego Movie Video Game will be released with the upcoming The Lego Movie, which will be in February 2014. Making its home on pretty much every single platform available. From the new Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U, to with the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, 3DS and Vita. Don’t be too surprised if it also ends up on iOS (which most of the recent games have).

These The Lego Movie Video Game screenshots show off a world that is built out of Lego bricks (instead of the typical TT Game style of rendered backgrounds). The only other concrete detail is that the new game will feature at least 90 playable characters inspired by the film, and 15 levels.

The Lego Movie: Movie-Inspired Building Sets & Other News

The Lego Movie: Movie-Inspired Building Sets

Another Comic-Con San Diego announcement from Lego today. There will be an official movie-inspired building theme for the upcoming The Lego Movie. No release date announced, but these new sets can be expected to hit stores sometime around the films release date of February 2014. Lego will be going all out with this upcoming theme. Featuring 17 total sets. Since the film has mishmashed all the Lego themes into a single giant Lego theme, these sets will cover a whole lot of ground. There will be a whole collection of highly detailed vehicles and structures showcasing the broad versatility of Lego. For instance, these sets will represent Lego City, Wild West and Space themes. As for minifigures, there should be at least 16, representing the cast and characters of The Lego Movie.

Not only will these new sets be released, but TT Games is working on a new video game based on the film. With 90 playable characters inspired by the film and 15 levels.

Plus there will be a whole lot of other The Lego Movie themed products on the shelves:

“Movie-Inspired Merchandise A roster of global licensees covering several categories will immerse filmgoers in the world of “THE LEGO MOVIE.” Perennial publishing partners Scholastic, Penguin, Ameet and DK Publishing will offer a range of readers, sticker books, activity books and movie guides. Lego Winter Village Market (10235)

Lego Winter Village Market (10235)

Lego has announced its latest entry in the Winter Village theme. The Lego Winter Village Market (10235) will be available in October, just in time for the upcoming holiday season. This new set will come 1,261 pieces and be part of the Lego Creator theme. The whole set will include 9 minifigures, with Lego specifically calling out that there will be 3 females, 2 males, and 4 children. Sadly most of these minifigs have been seen in other previous sets.

This Winter Village is actually a Winter Carnival. Featuring a brick built Merry-Go-Round, Bucket Challenge carnival game, and 3 food stands. The Carousel includes two horses, with some extremely lovely bridle printing. This set is great for filling in your Winter Village with more life and activity.

It is not too late to build your own Lego Winter Village. Some of the sets from previous years are still available, for instance the Lego Winter Village Cottage (10229) can still be purchased at Amazon.

Check out the official Lego Design video for all the details:

“Bring home the holiday spirit with the Winter Village Market, continuing the popular LEGO® Winter Village Series. Turn the handle and take a ride on the rocking horse as the carousel spins! Visit the carnival booth. Fill up on holiday and fair favorites including a pie, pretzel and croissant at the baker’s stand, chicken and sausage at the grill stand or sweet treats at the candy shop. Celebrate a holiday season full of traditions and building with the Winter Village Market! Includes 9 minifigures with accessories: 3 females, 2 males and 4 children.” — Lego

Lego Friends: Lovely Hotel, A Wonderful Cafe Corner (10182) Mod

Lego Friends: Lovely Hotel Package

The Lego Friends theme has been a wild success for Lego. The first truly successful “girls” line of Lego. There have been many other attempts by Lego to break into the “pink“ isle at the local toy store. But this has lead to a lot of criticism about the separation based on gender of Lego themes. And this segregation away from the other Lego sets certainly doesn’t help Lego keep a gender neutral position. There sure is a lot of pink, purple and tan in the Lego Friends theme, but the building designs, techniques and imagination involved are the same that makes Lego so popular.

One of the most impressive Lego Friends MOCs is this Lovely Hotel. The actual design is almost an exact match to the famous Lego Cafe Corner (10182). The designer of this put a lot of work into modifying the Cafe Corner, and converting it to the Friends color scheme. With some really great ideas, such as using the hair decoration pieces for window dressing. Even the trademark entry sign has been recreated with flowers and ice cream (the original is made from ski’s and a coffee mug). It makes the ground level of the Lovely Hotel an Ice Cream parlor instead of a Cafe, which is a great fit with this theme. This whole build almost feels like it is made out of candy, and it could easily fit into a larger candyland theme.
