Ender’s Game: Battle Room

Bricko’s Battle Room Gymnasium

A new movie is on its way based on the Ender’s Game novel by Orson Scott Card. Most of the scenes in the upcoming film look like they have been exaggerated based on what is written in the novel. While this could be great for the film, one major difference is the Battle Room. It always seemed like an enclosed room, that is pretty nondescript, filled with stars and full of teams of students trying to freeze each other. Best of all it is located in the center of the Battle School space station, where gravity is at a minimum.

A great example of this is in Battle Room Gymnasium, which gets a lot of the details right for a build that is not technically a recreation of the Battle Room from Ender’s Game (just influenced from it). From the stars (black squares) to the enemy gate. And, best of all the directionless feeling that fighting in space has. Remember the enemy’s gate is down.

Battle Room Gymnasium is built by Bricko and can be viewed over at Flickr.

Mos Eisley Cantina

ArSparfel’s Mos Eisley Cantina

One of the most iconic scenes from Star Wars is the hustle and bustle of the Mos Eisley Cantina. Lego has never done a good set based on the Cantina, which has caused a lot of people to take it on themselves.

This Mos Eisley Cantina is the creation of Flickr user Ar Sparfel. It has everything a good Cantina would need. The great central bar where Ponda Baba losses his arm, the band Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes rocking out, and even the booth where Han shot Greedo first. So much great stuff in a relatively small build. It even looks like a roof may have been built, which would be great to see in the future.

The Lego Lone Ranger: Silver Mine Shootout Reviewed

The Brothers Brick: Lego Lone Ranger Silver Mine Shootout Review

The Lone Ranger sets keep coming, and this time the Brothers Brick has a great review of The Lone Ranger: Silver Mine Shootout (79110) set. At first glance this set doesn’t seem all that impressive. Although, this set features an extremely large amount of play features, and sloped bricks. Most of what it offers is very hard to photograph. The five minifigs included here are the Lone Ranger, Tonto, Chief Big Bear, Butch Cavendish, and Skinny Kyle. This set goes together well with the Stagecoach Escape. This Lego Lone Ranger theme is actually a pleasant surprise. Not one set seems to be filler. Make sure to check out the video review!

The Lone Ranger Silver Mine Shootout (79110) is available now on Amazon.

Lego Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack Reviewed

CaptainNemo’s Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack

Just in time for the new release of Iron Man 3 comes a new Lego set. This one focusing on what might be the definitive scene from the film. This set comes with 5 minifigs, Tony Stark, Iron Man in Mark 42 armor, Pepper Potts, the Mandarin, and an Extremis soldier. That is a lot of figures for such a set. The Malibu mansion is a super abbreviated version from the film, containing a workshop, hall of armor, and a kitchen. Lego has done a great job with their Super Heroes line. LEGO Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack (76007) is currently for sale on Amazon too.

Captain Nemo over at Eurobricks posted a great review of the Lego Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack.

Lego Tower Of Orthanc

Lego Tower Of Orthanc, from Brickset

Lego Lord of the Rings gets a new mega set this summer with the Tower of Orthanc (No. 10237). Poor old Saruman will have to live his downfall over and over again. Isengard has never looked better at 2,359 pieces. This will certainly take the majority of a day to build, which is not a problem. The problem is that at 6 floors tall, totaling over 2 feet tall (28in or 73cm), most people will not have room to display this set without having to specifically make room for it. Make sure to check out the the designers video below!

Lego Tower Of Orthanc Details

The Tower of Orthanc will come with minifigs for Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf, a random Uruk-hai, and an Orc Pitmaster. Not only that but you will get a rare Great Eagle, and a brick build Ent. You can now reenact all of your favorite scenes, such as the great wizard battle and defeat of Gandalf. One of the rooms of this great tower contains the Palantír of Orthanc (with a light brick!), where Saruman communicates directly with Sauron. You can even reenact Gandalf’s call for help, with a Great Eagle rescuing him just in time. Or, the fall and destruction of the tower as the Ent join battle with the evil Orcs. This set is full of fun details. Hopefully soon, we will get a Treebeard figure that we can add to the battle.

Lego Superman: Black Zero Escape Reviewed

Plissken’s Superman: Black Zero Escape

With Lego having licenses to both DC Comics and Marvel Comics it means that as every new film based on their comics is released, so too is a new Lego set.

Man of Steel, the new Superman film directed by Zack Snyder, is getting its first Lego set. Superman: Black Zero Escape is just starting to hit stores now, with the first sets showing up in Germany.

Plissken of Eurobricks has posted the first full review. A huge surprise is General Zod’s full combat armor. I have a feeling that this set will become a must buy for any scifi builder out there.
