Working From Home – A Lego Overwatch Alternate Build

Working From Home - A Lego Overwatch Alternate Build

People are working from home more often now than ever. With no one around, you can find yourself in weird situations when you get a call from the boss. But, that doesn’t stop some people from getting things done. This Lego MOC is called “Zoom Meetings, Quarantine Day 45” and is created by Chris Malloy. This build ended up winning the Master Build at the virtual BrickCan 2020. The challenge was titled “Holding it together” and you could only use pieces from the Lego D.Va & Reinhardt (75973) Overwatch set with a six hour limit. A few of the fun details include the Minifigure hair piece used as a washcloth, the Overwatch logo pieces uses for eyeglasses, and the slippers. The faucet is a great minibuild on its own, and the brick built figure works well. This is just one of the Overwatch alternate builds, but it sure is memorable.

Compile Code With This Lego Automaton

Compile Code With This Lego Automaton

Spending all day writing code can be a lonely experience, so why not build your own little office worker. You can watch him work all day, instead of doing your work. This is the “Office Worker Lego Automaton” created by JK Brickworks. This little build features one office worker, one office chair, a PC style computer tower, a monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, desk, mug, headphones, and a potted plant. All the stuff you need to compile code, pivot excel spread sheets, or play Doom. This Lego build is also an automaton. You can turn the crank and watch the little worker type. The design can even be motorized so he can work on his own. A neat feature is that the vignette can be modified to reflect your own settings. You can easily add duel monitors, change to a standing desk, change the speakers, change the potted plant, and modify the appearance of the worker. So compile code, commit to GitHub, and start debugging now with this Lego automaton.

Lego Collectible Minifigures Series 14 (71010) Leaked Images!

Lego Collectible Minifigures Series 14, Monsters

Lego is going strong with their Collectible Minifigures theme. The recent Series 13 has proven to be extremely hard to find, with most retailers sold out long ago. 2015 is going to be another weird year for this theme. The next release will be the Simpsons Series 2 (a bunch of early production images were leaked). After that the official Series 14 will be released in the late summer or early fall. Breaking with the normal formula this series will be completely themed for Halloween. There will be 16 various monster and horror themed Minifigs in this release, some of them will even feature some extremely cool new molds.

So far 11 of them have been leaked, with the other 5 still hidden away somewhere. There is the (80s?) Frankenstein, Zombie Office Worker, Zombie Cheerleader, the Tigeress (a female tiger), a Mad Scientist, a Werewolf named Kel, a Zombie Pirate Captain, a Plant Man, a Witch and her Black Cat, a Vampire (actually a Vampiress), and a Skeleton Costume Man.

The Tigeress might be one of the most popular of Minifigures, coming with one of those new Minifig tails, and a neat 1960ish hair piece with ears.

The other stand out is the crazy Mad Scientist. This is the first Minifigure to come with an elongated head. This is a super cool piece but most likely it is attached to the glasses/hair. Making it a little less interesting.

The Werewolf is looking pretty familiar (Monster Fighters) and the Undead Pirate has some awesome printing. Check out the skull and crossbones, this one is looking extra dead.

The Plant Guy is maybe the least interesting figure, and the Witch represents a pretty popular Halloween style.

The Vampiress is looking deadly, and the plainish Skeleton Guy is pretty charming.
