Getting Lost In The Upside Down – A Lego Stranger Things Tensegrity Build

Getting Lost In The Upside Down - A Lego Stranger Things Tensegrity Build

Lucas, Eleven, Dustin, and Mike are on a quest to save Will from the Demogorgon and the Upside Down. This Lego Stranger Things Tensegrity build is the creation of Richard Jones. The weightless appearance of the Upside Down fits perfectly, and it really looks like Will is in a place he cannot escape. They found the perfect theme for this optical illusion. Tensegrity builds are increasingly popular, and each new one shared is more elaborate than the last. The secret is that the Lego chains are under tension, and are holding up everything above the tree with physics. A delicate balance that can be knocked over at the slightest bump. This Lego Stranger Things MOC is so well done it almost looks like an official Lego release. And, it should be.

Mike, Gypsy, And Cambot In A Lego Mystery Science Theater

Mike, Gypsy, And Cambot In A Lego Mystery Science Theater 3000

This Lego Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) build is the creation of Chris Doyle. The scene features the host Mike, and the robot Gypsy. The original television show started in 1988, and continues on (in some form) today. A human and a few robots are aboard the spaceship The Satellite of Love, and are forced to take part in an experiment: to see what happens to humans when forced to watch terrible movies. This scene feature Mike, the second human host to take part in the experiment. This Lego build depicts the moment between bad movies, when Mike and the robots are getting into all sorts of wacky situations. Mike is a great caricature and looks very animated. Check out those Lego hands, the solution for thumbs works well. Gypsy the purple robot is instantly recognizable. In another photo, you can see Cambot is also hanging around, and a mirror is used to show off the design. An excellent use of a Lego tire. Will Lego Mike Nelson ever finish the experiment, or will he finally escape?

Lego Monsters Inc. “What are you talking about? Of course it’s her door. It’s her door.” Mike Wazowski

Dave Shaddix's Mike Wazowski, Lego Monsters Inc

Monsters, Inc. has been a popular Lego MOC theme for the last couple of months. It always helps when a new movie (Monsters University) is on its way. A Lego Monsters, Inc. build is a little bit difficult. With a lot of round shapes and bright colors it can be hard to get the Lego to look right. Mike Wazowski is an extremely animated character which makes him especially difficult. Although, Dave Shaddix found a great compromise and has created a Lego Mike Wazowski and Door vignette. All of the details from the film are here, the door controls say “42,” the little M logo on the hard hat, and the canister all create a very recognizable scene. Also, the excellent proportions between Mike and the door. Now if only Mike Wazowski can find Boo’s door.

Lego Mike & Sully, Monsters Inc.

MacLane's CubeDude Mike & Sully, Monsters Inc

Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan are an unstoppable pair of monsters. Both of them successfully managed to save Monstropolis and usher in a new era full of laughter. Monsters, Inc is one of Pixar’s best films, and its prequel (Monsters University) has recently hit theaters. What kind of adventures did these two monsters get into during college? Maybe it’s time to go watch the film. A tiny Lego Boo would turn this duo into a frighteningly awesome trio.

Angus MacLane has made a whole mess of CubeDudes (A squarish Lego figure), including this Monsters Inc set. So, go check them out on his Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27826007@N05/4690965383/
