Briques Magazine Lego Case

This Lego case is created by Galerie d’Antha. Who wanted a nice way to store and display their collection of Briques Magazine. A popular French Lego and Bricks themed publication. This box was designed to fit the first four issues perfectly. A lot of hard work and thought went into creating the box. A brick built logo is featured running across the top, which features an interesting technique. The curved shapes of the “U” and “S” have curved 1×1 flat plates set inside 1×1 holes. The finished effect is sort of like basic anti-aliasing. The box also features ten collections of printed bricks. They have been organized by theme: Travel, Transport, People, Information, Press, Space, Food, Animals, Time, and Text. There is even a vertical strip of printed tiles that list the date and website. The design can easily be replicated for future collection of issues. The finished Lego box is very interesting, and it looks great displayed.

The Barricade From Les Miserables — A Lego Scene

Les Misérables has been a cultural icon ever since the original novel was published in 1862 by Victor Hugo. Since then the story has been adapted to all sorts of media, with the musical and film standing out. You can now add Lego to that list. This is “The Barricade” a Lego MOC based on Les Misérables and created by General 尓àvarre. This is the pivotal scene from the story, and the point that everything changes. The barricade is an iconic mound of furniture, wooden boards, and trash. This Lego scene has a lot of nice details. The background is a blue sky, and here it is brick built. A subtle detail but worth the effort. The three buildings help to create a focal point on the Minifigure holding their ground with the French flag. That flag is an excellent build. The flat 1×2 tiles line up nicely and can be posed in a way to make it look like it is waving in the wind. The smaller flag looks great too, created from three 1×2 jumper plates held on with a clip. The whole scene has been photographed well, with a hazy look to the scene. You can feel the tension.

Ratatouille In Paris, A Lego Build

The Pixar film Ratatouille captured the spirit of being a struggling chef in the city of Paris. This is a wonderful Lego vignette called “Ratatouille” created by Miro Dudas. This build is completely centered around the camera. The use of forced perspective and back lighting is how this scene has been created. This is a great micro build of Paris. The city is a collection of various 1×1 Lego pieces in silhouette. While the iconic Eiffel Tower is a just a few pieces. The curving sides is achieved by bending black Lego antennas. The French flag is just 3 pieces. The Ratatouille sign is much more complicated than it looks at first glance. Remy is made up of Lego wrenches and clips which do a great job of holding everything together.

The Vinochope Lego Logo – A French Wine And Beer Bar

Vinochope is a French Wine and Beer Bar founded in 2013. Recently, Lego builder J.B.F, had an exhibition at the bar. To mark the occasion they built their logo out of Lego. The wine and beer glass are instantly recognizable. The key to this build is using the Lego flexible piping to create the outline of the logo. It works extremely well when combined with the yellow and dark red plates. Check out the carefully placed white clips holding everything together. Something this simple is usually a lot more complicated then it looks.

Lego Parisian Restaurant Modular Building (10243) Reviewed by Huw

Lego has been steadily releasing new Modular Buildings for the past few years. The recent, Palace Cinema (10232), and Town Hall (10224) have proven extremely popular. The newest set is the Parisian Restaurant (10243) which should be hitting shelves in the near future. Huw, from Brickset, has recently posted an early photo review of this highly anticipated set. The Parisian Restaurant comes with the now standard 3 step instructions. Which, should take anywhere from 5-9 hours to complete.

There are a whole lot of new and rare pieces included this time around. The most recognizable is the new Lego Scooter. This little red Vespa influenced scooter is extremely cute, and fits in perfectly with the Parisian Restaurant. Also included are a whole lot bricks in the new Olive Green Lego color. Since the whole building is based on this rare color, the Parisian Restaurant is probably the best source for these parts.

Featuring five Minifigures, a chef, waiter, two restaurant patrons, and the female scooter pilot. As usual, these included Minifigs all feature the classic smiling Lego head. I like to think of the blonde man as a Lego Owen Wilson.

Huw notes that the increased detail means that the Restaurant takes longer to build. All three floors are furnished, with the bottom floor featuring an impressive amount of details. From the fully tiled flooring, to the full kitchen, everything here looks great.

The Lego Parisian Restaurant is an excellent new entry in the Modular Building theme. The previous two seemed to be missing a certain spark for some fans, but this set has reignited their enthusiasum. The other good news is that there are no stickers this time around. Everything here is given the premium treatment from Lego.

Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243) Modular Building Revealed!

During Brickcon 2013 Lego has officially revealed the newest Modular Building, the Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243). This is a very different modular then the recent releases from Lego. The building doesn’t completely fill (vertically) the 32 stud baseplate. Instead having a small outdoor patio on the roof of the first floor. The first floor is an extremely detailed parisian restaurant. With a small apartment (Murphy bed!) on the second floor, and an artist studio at the top. This set will come with 2,469 pieces at a price of $159.99. The Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243) will be available to purchase in January 2014.

The Parisian Restaurant feels like it has been influenced by the rare Lego Market Street (10190) Modular Building. Although this new restaurant seems to avoid the problems that Market Street had. A more standard design that fits in with the other Modulars, and much more carefully thought out features. It looks like this set will fit in nicely with the latest Modular Buildings.

It’s very busy in the Parisian Restaurant. As a scooter zips by, inside the waiter rushes between the tables as the nervous young man gets ready to propose with the ring! It’s just as hectic behind the scenes, with the chef busily preparing the food. This beautifully detailed building is the setting for so many stories and is a great addition to the modular building series. The Parisian Restaurant has a fully-stocked, blue and white tiled kitchen with tableware as well as a cozy apartment with pull-down bed, kitchenette and fireplace. On the top floor is the artist’s room with a studio that includes a cast iron heater, easel, paintbrush and two works of art by the aspiring artist.
