Kristi's Lego Ghostbusters Mini Headquarters

Feeling a little bummed out that the new Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) is $349? Don’t worry because you can create a mini headquarters for a whole lot cheaper. The end result is infinitely cuter too.

Lego Silhouette Or Shadow?

Bricks Noir's Lego Silhouette Pointe Tilt

There are many ways to build with Lego, and the relief style has been gaining popularity. The variety of Lego pieces has finally enabled creators the ability to work with curves. There is no way something as fluid as these human figures could have been built a few years ago. These silhouette Lego creations are the work of Bricks Noir. The first is titled Pointe Tilt, and features a ballerina. The second is titled Lovers’ Embrace, and depicts a romantic moment between two people. Check out some of the details, especially the ears and mouths.

An American Gothic Lego Mosaic

Cole Edmonson's Lego Mosaic American Gothic

American Gothic is one of the most iconic paintings of the 20th century. It has been recreated and reimagined in almost every way imaginable. Cole Edmonson has created a huge Lego mosaic of the painting. It measures in at 36.25″ x 30″ which makes it a little larger then the original painting. It’s always good to see a Lego mosaic in actual bricks rather then computer rendered.

A Lego Color Chart, Can You Find Any Missing?

Jeremy Moody's Lego Color Chart

Have you ever wondered how many colors Lego has in its collection? There are probably more then you thought. Jeremy Moody has made it his mission to collect and catalog every released color. Some of these colors go back decades, and are extremely rare.

“Here is my chart of all known named LEGO colors. This started as an attempt to collect colors of 2x4s, and turned into collecting every color in as close as possible to the size and shape of a 2×4. There are some color names LEGO is known to have used, not included in this chart. However, it is unknown what parts or sets were ever made in those colors, or if they were used at all beyond trial pieces.”

A Lego Rhinoceros by Jin Kei

Jin Kei's Lego Rhinoceros

Lego artist Jin Kei has created this Rhinoceros. It is a pretty clear statement about the current state of the species and its dwindling numbers due to poaching of their horns. But, like all artwork there are a lot of different interpretations about it.

What is neat is that this whole thing has been created by (mostly) using basic Lego pieces. The transparent bricks also do a good job of creating the appearance that the Rhino is dissolving into nothing.

The Super Detailed Root Canal

Lab Synth's Root Canal Lego MOC 01

Fantasy and Castle based MOCs are usually extremely limited in their color palette. Mostly gray, green and brown. It always seems that you cannot have enough of these colors. But, every once in a while an MOC comes out that explodes with color. This is Root Canal, created by Lab Synth.

“Root Canal takes its name from the old tree that adorns its small plaza (some say its double entendre is an ironic allusion to the pain one feels when learning about the prices of its palaces).
It is made of a tight succession of palaces, whose proprietors strive to maintain in tip top shape in a sort of non verbal competition that neighbors of the area like to have between them. The richer the material the better, leading to some extravagant decorations and architectural details.

Although direct access to the canal was originally intended for deliveries to be stored easily in the palaces’ grounds, they are now mainly used as recreative ways to arrive, by boat, to one of the prestigious parties that make Root Canal glimmer and sing until the wee hours of the night.”

Let It Snow With This Microscale Winter Vignette

Hornet Razvan's Lego Microscale Winter Vignette 01

Winter is here, which means peaceful white landscapes, bitter cold, and a lot of hard work shoveling. Hornet Razvan has created a charming Lego Microscale Winter Vignette. An iconic red building is the center piece, but the giant clouds and snow Lego built background is what makes this stand out. There are even some extremely tiny cars trying to drive, and two little snowplows keeping the roads safe.

Hornet Razvan created this Lego MOC for the Winter 2015 Brickenburg contest, and won 1st place. Check it out over here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/razvy_cluj_ro/23414471601/

An Official Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters (75827) Coming in 2016?

Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters Firehouse

It sounds like an official Lego Ghostbusters Headquarters (75827) will be released in 2016! Over on YouTube, just2good released this scoop (here). The upcoming set will be impressive. The Firehouse will contain well over 4,000 pieces and cost somewhere near $350. This puts it in the same category as the Deathstar or the recent Avengers Helicarrier in terms of scope. The whole thing should open up, and be relatively modular. It will be interesting to see if it can fit in with the ever popular Modular Buildings theme. Good news, even though the release is 2016, the wait won’t be too long. The Headquarters should be released on January 1st, 2016.

The image above is the super popular Lego Ideas Ghostbusters HQ that was not approved (here). The first images of this new set should be appearing soon.

“My name is Kang, and this is my sister Kodos. ” – Lego Simpsons MOC

6kyubi6's Lego Simpsons Kang and Kodos

Kang & Kodos are some of the most iconic Simpsons characters. They landed on the Simpsons in the season 2 Treehouse of Horror special all the way back in 1990. Since then they have popped up in all sorts of episodes, but you can find them somewhere in every Treehouse of Horror. This Lego Kang & Kodos MOC is the creation of 6kyubi6. Who has been diligently recreating Springfield with their “Springfield Project” (here). The duo is looking good, and fit in perfectly with the standard Minifigure scale.

The Vaults were never meant to save anyone. – A Lego Fallout Vault

Matt De Lanoy's Lego Fallout Vault
I’ve been playing a lot of the Fallout Shelter video game, or I should say struggling to survive the post-apocalyptic future. With news of the Fallout 4 coming soon there is a surge of interest in related stuff. Even Lego MOCs are being revealed everyday. Matt De Lanoy has created his own scene, titled “The Vaults were never meant to save anyone.” This MOC is part of the Iron Builder challenge, this time it was Metallic Silver Barbell. Can you find them?
