Lego House Lannister & House Stark of Game of Thrones
There are probably millions of characters in the Game of Thrones series. It is overwhelming at first, but once you get into the novels, or through half of the TV show they all start to become familiar. Arguably the two most important families (sorry Targaryen, Baratheon, Greyjoy, Tyrell, & Martell) of a Song of Ice and Fire are House Lannister and House Stark. These two families alone have over 13 characters, and that is not counting friends and associates. Amazingly, Lego minifigures translate pretty well into the GoT universe. With the recent increase in detail and variety of minifigs, people have many more options when creating their own figures. This version of House Lannister and House Stark has been created by th_squirrel, and is one of the highest quality builds using standard Lego pieces.
First up is House Stark which features, in order from left to right: Sansa, Eddard, Rob, Rickon, Catelyn, Bran, Hodor, Arya, and Jon Snow.
Everyones favorite family to hate, House Lannister, in order from left to right: Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Tywin, and Joffery Lannister.

“The Lannisters send their regards.” — Lego Red Wedding, Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones SPOILERS!
***
There is one moment in the Game of Thrones series that takes place in A Storm of Swords that changes everything that is expected. The Red Wedding just happens to take place about half way through the book, which is also odd because usually the climax of a story happens near the end. This moment that every GoT fan knew was coming finally took place on the television series. And, fans of the novels were pleased at just how accurate the show portrayed this infamous moment; while fans who had not read the books watched in horror.
This MOC has some creative use of pieces, for instance the use of the red flower for a bloody wound, and red snakes for entrails. The best part of this depiction of the Red Wedding is just how happy Roose Bolton looks.

New The Lord of the Rings Lego sets on sale now: 79005, 79006, 79007 & 79008
The second series for the Lord of the Rings Lego theme is now available for sale on Amazon.com. These sets help to fill out a lot of the missing characters from the first release. Such minifigures as Elrond, Arwen, Saruman, Gandalf the White, the Mouth of Sauron, the King of the Dead, and many others. These sets are great, and it looks like the Tolkien themes may have many more updates in the future. You can even get an exclusive Lego Eagle that can help you set up plot holes and your favorite Deus ex machina! (HAHA!)

Bag End
“Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bar, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a Hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”
— The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Bag End is Bilbo’s Hobbit-hole from the Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings. It being located in Bagshot Row of Hobbiton. The desire of all the Shire, or at least the Sackville-Bagginses. With the notable green door, and immaculate garden kept by Samwise Gamgee. Bag End may be the most innocent location in all of Middle Earth.
Lego did a great job with their official set, offering just the right amount of detail to feel complete on its own. Bag End is one of the best Lego sets currently available. When built the whole thing inspires people to add to the set. It can easily be expanded upon, and in this case expanded out.
LBaixinho, of Flickr, built this expanded Bag End. With the exception of the larger tree, and crooked fence, the actual Hobbit-Hole is straight from Lego’s set. What LBaixinho did, was offer up a more complete version of Bagshot Row. Filling in a front yard full of vegetables, flowers, roads and paths. Even Gandalf is stopping by, maybe getting ready to set up an Unexpected Gathering.

Upper levels of Minas Tirith
“For the fashion of Minas Tirith was such that it was built on seven levels, each delved into the hill, and about each was set a wall, and in each was a gate. But the gates were not set in a line: the Great Gate in the City wall was at the east point of the circuit, but the next faced half south, and the third half north, and so to and fro upwards; so the paved way that climbed toward the citadel turned this way and that and then that across the face of the hill.” — The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Minas Tirith: The City of Kings
J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is the source of a many My Own Creation (MOC) builds, second only to Star Wars. Every few months a newer and more epic build is revealed to the public. It looks like the recent Helms Deep MOC has some series competition for the title of the greatest Lord of the Rings build. All the credit goes to Flickr user Chairudo, who is responsible for this massive Minas Tirith.
The current status for this build puts the brick count at 120,000 bricks, and roughly 6 feet tall. These 120,000 bricks only represent the top 2 levels of the total 7 that Minas Tirith is composed of. What you see here has taken a little over 2 years to build. Imagine what that means if this thing ever gets finished.
Just look at all the details. From the impeccable rock work, to the White Tree of Gondor. Even the Citadel is completely build up on the interior. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Palantír of Minas Anor was included. This build is epic.
Recently Minas Tirith was on display at Lipno Point in the Czech Republic. If this thing ever goes on tour, make sure to go see it. I have a feeling that we will be seeing many more updates to this build in the coming years.
