Zoom Around On This Life-Sized Lego Go-Kart

Zoom Around On This Life-Sized Lego Go-Kart, Mantis Hacks

Sometimes you get a crazy idea and just happen to have the rights tools to make that idea a reality. Over at Mantis Hacks they started with the idea to recreate a Technic Go-Kart model at five times the normal scale. The end result was huge but still not large enough for a human to use. For round two they made a few modifications and increased the scale to 8.34. After a lot of 3D printing (3 different printers!) and a lot of patience the Lego model was ready to go. A little bit of help with some glue and a few steel pieces the finished Go-Kart looks great. All the bits and pieces fit together, steering works, and the wheels turn. With a few planned modifications the Lego Go-Kart will eventually get an electric motor.

These Life-sized Lego Meerkats Are Always Standing Up

These Life-sized Lego Meerkats Are Always Standing Up

Meerkats are those cute burrowing animals that hang out in groups. They often stand to get a better view of their world. These Lego Meerkats are the creation of Felix Jaensch. They are a life-size recreation (no scaling down) of their real world inspiration. These Lego MOCs are in the same style of other big Lego sculptures. With lots of studs showing off. These little animals have some great details, the claws on the hands/feet are well done. As is the ear/cheek area. Much more complicated than it looks. Around back you can see that the faded stipe pattern is also present. Which leads all the way down to their tails. A good color gradient gives these a very realistic appearance. I could see these Meerkats getting their own television special. Lego Meerkat Manor. This needs to happen.

Quick Get This Lego Life-sized Pikachu Some Ketchup

alanboar Lego Life-sized Pikachu

Here is a life-sized Pikachu (Based on the Pokemon video game) made out of Lego. Slightly sharper and less fluffy then a real one. That just means you need to hug it more. Alanboar created this Lego Pikachu out of 3,000 pieces. It could have been more pieces, but this MOC is hollow inside. There are only five colors used; yellow, brown, black, red, and white. This limited palette keeps the cartoon quality that has made Pikachu so famous. In order to get the proportions and design correct this Lego Pikachu was first sketched out on paper. While it is holding a Pokeball; Ketchup may be a more fitting prop.

Not everyone has 3,000 or so yellow Lego bricks. In that case there is a mini version of Pikachu that used a fraction of the life-sized model. The mouth and nose area is simple, and a perfect detail.
