The Lego Story. A Beautifully Animated History of Lego.

The Lego Story, An Animated History of Lego.

Have you ever wondered where the Lego brick comes from? Well, for the 80th anniversary of The LEGO Group a beautifully animated history of the company was produced. The Lego Story focuses on the history between 1932 to 1968. This story has it all, a failed business, new ideas, a tragic fire, the invention of the Lego System, and the resulting success. It is easy to compare the quality of animation with some of the work that Pixar has done, which is saying a lot. This really is a must see video.

Lego also made a little bloopers and outtakes reel. Even poking fun at everyones worst nightmare: stepping on a Lego. Haha… ouch.

Lego Batman vs. Lego Superman, Fight!

Lego Batman vs Superman Fight

Who would win in an epic Batman vs. Superman battle? Some people have spent a whole lot of time thinking about this this possibility. Keshen8 believes that a fight between these two superheroes could only end in one way. The animation and special effects are extremely well done, with the stop-motion being especially smooth.

Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243) Modular Building Revealed!

Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant 10243 01

During Brickcon 2013 Lego has officially revealed the newest Modular Building, the Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243). This is a very different modular then the recent releases from Lego. The building doesn’t completely fill (vertically) the 32 stud baseplate. Instead having a small outdoor patio on the roof of the first floor. The first floor is an extremely detailed parisian restaurant. With a small apartment (Murphy bed!) on the second floor, and an artist studio at the top. This set will come with 2,469 pieces at a price of $159.99. The Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243) will be available to purchase in January 2014.

Check out the official Lego Design video here:

The Parisian Restaurant feels like it has been influenced by the rare Lego Market Street (10190) Modular Building. Although this new restaurant seems to avoid the problems that Market Street had. A more standard design that fits in with the other Modulars, and much more carefully thought out features. It looks like this set will fit in nicely with the latest Modular Buildings.

“Have an unforgettable evening at the amazing Parisian Restaurant!

It’s very busy in the Parisian Restaurant. As a scooter zips by, inside the waiter rushes between the tables as the nervous young man gets ready to propose with the ring! It’s just as hectic behind the scenes, with the chef busily preparing the food. This beautifully detailed building is the setting for so many stories and is a great addition to the modular building series. The Parisian Restaurant has a fully-stocked, blue and white tiled kitchen with tableware as well as a cozy apartment with pull-down bed, kitchenette and fireplace. On the top floor is the artist’s room with a studio that includes a cast iron heater, easel, paintbrush and two works of art by the aspiring artist. Outside, stairs lead down to the roof terrace lined with hanging lanterns and flowers where the diners eat alfresco-style. This amazing Parisian Restaurant model even includes a facade with croissants, clams and feather details that recapture the feel of Paris. Includes 5 minifigures: chef, waiter, girl and a romantic couple.”

Lego Maersk Line Triple-E (10241) Container Ship Revealed!

Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241

Lego has recently announced a new entry in its Maersk Theme. The Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241 container ship is one of the largest ships that Lego has released. Measuring more than 2 feet long this ship is going to have a tough time fitting in a bath tub. Speaking of which, Lego is quick to point out that the Triple-E does not float. The Maersk ship does feature twin engines and propellers, viewing port into said engine, rudders, lifeboats, removable containers, movable crane, and one hidden coin. It also looks like this set will be featuring about a million stickers.

This is the first Maersk ship to be built using the new medium azure (blue). In the past Lego used an exclusive color, Maersk blue, which could only be found in Maersk themed sets. It would seem that Maersk blue has been retired, at least for the time being.

Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241 Detail

This massive container ship is made up of 1,518 pieces, which makes it a decent value at $149.99. One interesting detail is that Lego and Maersk are making a big deal out of the twin propeller engines, even building a viewing port into the side of the hull. The 10241 Lego Maersk Line Triple-E will be available in January 2014.

Lego Maersk Line Triple-E 10241 Engines

You can even customize it by adding or removing the containers. This authentic set includes a display stand and fact plaque with detailed information about the ship and, as a finishing touch, there’s the gold coin that is added under the mast of all Maersk Line ships for good luck on their voyages. This model is perfect for LEGO fans!

A Lego Cabin Cuckoo Clock, with Video

Mark of Falworth's Lego Cabin Cuckoo Clock

Cuckoo Clocks are fun. Lego is fun. What could go wrong. Nothing. Not only is this Lego Cabin Cuckoo Clock a great clock, but it is a strong tudor style home MOC. The clock is almost a bonus. Some of the detailing is notable, like the chimney, the roofing details, and the propeller thingy. While this Lego Cuckoo Clock doesn’t keep time, it does have some automated features. A little bird flies in and out of the homes attic, while the clock spins out of control. Check out the video here:

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is almost here. Which means we are hitting the peak of The Hobbit fever. BrotherhoodWorkshop went and made the original teaser trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and reshot it, scene for scene in Lego. These type of videos represent a whole lot of work, with many unique Lego scenes and minifigures. The best are almost not noticeable.

How the DeLorean Effect changed CUUSOO @ Brick Fanatics

Lego CUUSOO Website

Lego has been running the Lego CUUSOO project for a couple of years now. Most Lego fans are familiar with the site, but may not know just where it came from. Brick Fanatics has written up a great article containing the history of the CUUSOO project and where it is going. It all started as a tiny side project from Japan and is currently on the verge of becoming mainstream. All thanks to a little Lego DeLorean (and Minecraft).

“Originally only available in Japan, the user created ideas website was a joint venture between CUUSOO and The LEGO Group and allowed Japanese LEGO fans to submit their ideas to The LEGO Group in a more formal way. Once a project reached 1000 supporters it was then reviewed by The LEGO Group for consideration on whether it should go into production.” — Brick Fanatics

You can find the full article on the Brick Fanatics website: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/how-the-delorean-effect-changed-cuusoo/

Lego has also created a video explaining the concept of the CUUSOO website:
